Hi guys! Anybody form Hungary...

Hi guys! Anybody form Hungary? I'm going on a short trip to Budapest and want to learn from you what you recommend to do there?
How people there look at tourists?
Can you get along without a problem in English?

dont go there

Don't go, shit country. Only smegma burgers. John is kill.

if u hungary just eat some food nigga

you hung? Do porn.

Lol wasted money, shit place, literally all the neighbouring countries are better to visit csuse they have actual landmarks

Why? Can you elaborate? Are you from Hungary?

Bumping this cause I have the same plans of visiting Budapest

Hell no, don't insult me. Only niggers and fags go there and you don't sound like a nigger.

Waste of many? So where you suggest to go for a long weekend at a price ~100-150 Euro/person? Becouse I got an offer at about that price. Transport, hotel, tickets, food.

Don't listen to the haters, i visited it and its pretty nice. Not tons of stuff to visit but it's nice to party and the city is pretty. One thing I advise you to do is to take at least one full day at the baths.

Should be a great trio, its still on my list. I would actually want to take a tour of the Danube and the major centres it intersects, but those river cruises always seem to be designed for old people.

Budapest has a balls-deep pinball museum that looks like Fun, and don't forget to get shot into the Danube by archers. Please remove your shoes first.

never been to hungary but i saw some article about how they have some bars in old ruined buildings. looked kinda cool. the pics im finding on google at the moment look awful, but i'm sure you'll have more motivation to search than i do

i'm hungarian, younger people here usually speak english and are nice to tourists. nice country except for the political atmosphere, just beware of scams like hot girls asking to go drinking something in suspect places, fake cops asking for documents/bribes and so on.

Budapest look like paris

Thanks for good tips!

So in tourists places there's no problem to speak in English? Every country got shit political atmosphere so dont worry :D
I'm traveling with my gf so hot girls not for me anymore :< but that fake cops are really that common?

This. I bought ''weed'' one time and got lettuce. We threatened the guy and got our money back. The place is ok but a lot of gypsy's trying to scam tourists.

Dont go. Bunch of nazi infested faggots in there. It's a totalitarian country.

Well, that case at least you wont get gangraped by an army of muslims before having your head cut off by a dull knife.

not that common, happened just a couple of times to people i know. anyway they are usually recognizable as they are unarmed, can't identify themselves with credible badges and really don't look like legitimate policemen. if they ask to check if you have enough money for your stay or stuff like this ask them to be brought to the police station as that's the only place they can legitimately do these kind of controls. if it's a scam they'll likely run away.

you won't have problems with english, as almost every person under 35 speaks it fluently. anyway if you're having problems ask for help, people are usually really nice to tourists.

I'm a native Hungarian. Tourists are welcome, but anything from the point of shitskin immigrants will be met with hate. We like to smoke, drink, and eat our ultra greasy foods. We mostly bow down to our corrupt to his bones-prime minister, Viktor Orbán for making Hungary safer and stronger each year, but slowly killing us by defunding the hospitals.

People here hate each other, but they are proud to be hungarian, except for the liberals, who flee to London to become waiters and waitresses. We are usually poor, earning 350 USD per month is considered a good payment. Lots of gypsies and lots of racists.

I strongly advice you not to settle here, but visiting should be a nice experience. Can't really tell you the tourist spots because we can't afford those things.

food is nice, girls are too horny, guys have bigger dicks than africans... all what you need to know.

People can speak English mostly, but some of them will refuse to because they are ashamed of the way they sound when they speak it. You will encounter the same problem in Greece and Turkey.
Go to Serbia, the bitches are good and prices are low.

We are not taught the proper pronounciation. Yet they should, because our language is entirely phonetical. Thats why we have a hard time speaking english, not because we cant, but because we know it wont sound right.

Novi Sad in serbia is kinda nice

When I visit a country I like to talk with people living there, are there any taboo topic I shouldnt start? I mean probably politics is the hot topic?

What food you suggest I have to try there?

No idea. Im not from Budapest, and everything there smells like rip-off. I can only tell you what to look out for, but I have a money-cautious mindset. For example, the taxi service WILL rip you off there. The bus-tram-metro service is good however.

Also, your question depends on what you are looking for. Architecture? Fun times? Prostitutes? Lake? You get it.

Hungarian living in Budapest here.

Most people do know English under 35, but most are shy or don't want to speak in a foreign language for whatever reasons.

Downtown as a whole is a rip-off district - avoid flashy clubs and the like. Never set foot in Váci street - restaurants are scamming everybody there as fuck, even more so if you seem drunk. "Ruin pubs" are fine though, if you don't mind the trashy aesthetic and the art students.

>Prostitutes
I think that's illegal. Probably because of Orban

Hungarians are completely mad. They will brag how impossibly complicated the language is, I mean they would if they could, because for some reason they learned this completely fucking madly complex language (it's a lie) as toddlers, yet they can't fucking speak proper English.

Then if you find someone who does, the first they do is trying to teach you to swear, or fool you into insulting someone by telling you it means something different.

It's not that the average hungarian doesn't like tourists, it's just that they lack all seriousness when they are being approached by one.

As for the landmarks and stuff. It isn't hard to find nicer historic pieces of architecture in the neighboring countries, when it was the hungarians who fucking stopped the turkish expansion. We have ruins because we actually fought invaders, and more often than not managed to stop them.

You're welcome, western europe!

i'm not aware of any actual cultural/political taboo, it will really depend by who you'll be talking to. also don't be worried about freely talking about whatever you want. censorship is not remotely as strong as in russia and nearby places.

But "dating" websites are legal, desu

Where are you from?

Doesn't change the fact that they rob you blind by offering the same service for 10 times the price, as soon as they figure out you are a foreigner. No matter if that service is a bowl of soup or having your dick sucked. Everyone does it.

Know the exchange rate and only buy crap from stores and locales that have their prices written on a public menu.

Tourists always try gulas soup, for dessert try dobos torta(dobos cake) maybe.

Taboo topics are the same as everywhere, immigrants and minorities. Don't buy anything on the streets those are stolen... and FOR CRHRIST SAKE dont fucking act like a tourist, doing selfies on every corner, that makes you a "hey rob me and rake me " target, act like the other people.

Thanks for advices!
So it is a must to exchange money to forint? And use it at stores, restaurants museums etc? What is an exchange course EUR HUF ?

That is sadly true.
The thing is, the way I see it, most Hungarians have never seen a foreigner in their life and if they had, they treat them as walking ATM-s. This is why most of us don't know/want to interact with tourists, and why scamming is a huge problem and the like.

Another thing: if you get scammed... sadly, the police won't do shit, and if they do, they will treat you as some criminal for getting fucked.
Don't expect politeness or English knowledge from droids. The majority of the police are assholes or just can't be asked.

East Europe is full of subhumans, Stalin fucked there head too hard

1 EUR is around 300 HUF.

Although I'm (duh) not Hungarian, I need to tell you: try out various foods they have. It's fucking delicious. Careful though, they're not jewing with their plates and you may have trouble finishing even one meal unless you're American.

You can pay with EUR in most places, but the exchange rate sucks, and I don't know if they can give EUR back in change, so you might be better off by exchanging money beforehand.

1 eur is about 300 forint right now. Exchange rates at each bank will differ.

*their

We did not need for Stalin to do that - our dear leaders did it for shits and giggles. Sadly.

are you Romanian?
iirc you guys sorta "dislike" (euphemism) each other.

Don't need to go that far, hungarians dislike hungarians. kek

Hungarians fucking hate everything and everybody everywhere, period.

Amen!

- admire hot women
- go to thermal baths
- admire hot women there too
- return to first step

Poland here ;)
Well I'm aware that I have to pay attention to everything and try not to get scammed
I like to eat a lot too, so its a challange!

And general question - What you think is the biggest achievement in history of your country? Battle, person, invention...

What is your skin color
Whites are fine
Niggas are "somewhat" fine
But light niggas you have a problem.. because you look like a fucking gypsy

Just be watchful that you are being charged the same money as you would if you were a local, other than that not every hungarian is hostile and/or a scumbag like the previous comments would suggest. They are just poor as fuck with 2/3rd of the country earning as little as 400€ a month, so whenever they see an opportunity to earn more cash, they jump at the opportunity. Other than that they aren't difficult to get along with.

And what about prices? Bottle of water, beer in pub, a meal?

And what alkohol you drink?

White

Try food outside of the regular "goulash - fish soup ("halászlé")" choice. If you're Polish, you'll certainly feel at home - most of our dishes are pretty similar. Just like said. Enjoy!

Hunfag born in Budapest but moved to the US at the age of 2. I'd say John von Neumann is our biggest achievement, but I'm a STEMfag so I'm obviously biased.

And yes, Hungarians are pathologically pessimistic.

>What you think is the biggest achievement in history of your country?
Nothing after 1490, that's when Matthias Corvinus died and everything went to shit.

>And what about prices? Bottle of water, beer in pub, a meal?
Well, I don't know where you're from, but prices will be mostly the same or a little more expensive than what you are used to, because the 27% sales tax.

Hungarian here. The city itself is not bad. Not the most interesting place you'll ever visit but it's okay for a few days. Listen to user, spend some time at the baths and just do some sightseeing. The architecture is nice at some places and generally the areas around the river are pretty nice and chill.

Most Hungarian beers are shit, but for 160-300 HUF it's affordable. My favorite beers in that price category are Staropramen Dark (not exported, made here in Hungary under licence) , Borsodi and Soproni Fekete Démon (brown ale). Sadly, Heineken is around 450 HUF a can, but it is the same licensed type and offers nothing more than the rest I've mentioned.

Most important thing about any eastern european country is
Watch out for gypsies
Don't trust them
And if they confront you about you "looking at them the wrong way"
Tell them to fuck off and don't get them out of your sight because if you do
They steal something off you

I saw one turist get guilted into looking away from the gypsies because he tought that was racist (lol). So they stole his bag
And he was just there screaming that he got robbed
And of course no one cared because he basically gave the bag away

i thing u guis in hugnry shuld eat somethink is about time realy

As a Hungarian not from Budapest, I think it's the filthiest city I've ever been to. I was just walking on a dry sidewalk for a couple of hours but by the time I arrived back at the hotel, my trousers were so dirty from all the dust and smoke, it looked like I dragged myself through a chimney.

Thanks user, I've already had lunch.

depends really on which parts you visit. yeah it's not exactly clean i admit it but that wasn't really my point

szédültél a betonon, spanom?

Bojler eladó!

Fun fact:

I pissed off that bridge into the danube while drunk.

>vidéki paraszt vagyok

Na ugye. Meg kicsit hisztérikus is.

Any stronger alkohol?

Well google translate translate you quite funny :D

Polinka.

>triplákok
Csekkolva

>Well google translate translate you quite funny :D
That's why I'm not out of a job yet. I'm a translator, and machine translation is terrible.

Try our palinka. It's fruity and kicks like a mule. (It's 40-70 v/v% brandy.)

Story?

Can I buy it at store? Its good enought or try to look for homemade?

>Just like (You) said. Enjoy!
Fun fact, I'm polfag too, lol.

Might explain things.

The palinka you can buy in the stores are completely trash, don't waste your money on it. True palinka is the homemade palinka.

Storebought will be much lower in alcohol content (closer to 40%) and 0.7l will set you back by about 4-7 thousand forint if you buy a quality brand.

Homemade is only worth trying if you can taste at least 3-4 different batches, because if you only try one, it might give you the wrong impression of the taste. Some homemade palinka is so strong it's like vodka, and lacks the fruity taste, so it's much more bland and tasteless than palinka should be.

I was in Budapest for a few days with friends, the beer was like 350 HUF - I'm British so that equates to like £1.

After a huge pub crawl we took a boat to an Island in the river where we found some Euro featival happening... Also more beer.

We decided to leave and find a club or ruin bar.

I was wasted and decided that few peoplw can say they pissed into the danube... So halfway up I took a leak over the side, my stream spraying into thw river 100ft below.

Best view I've ever had whilst taking a wizz.

Ahh, the shithole of Europe. Don't go there. Slovenia and Slovakia are nearby and are pretty cool. Basically every single neighbouring country is a better option

Not hungarian, but went there last year and absolutely loved it. You should definetly go to hero square, memento park and take the hike up to the liberty statue and the citadella. I also fell in love with Deák Ferenc tér. There is a lovely hostel at Blaha Lujza tér

nigger, they're all good.

The ruin pub crawl is offered nearly everywhere. It's very nice, I went on one when I was there

Dlatego chce pojechać i nadrobić to nieporozumienie ;)

Where I can find legit homemade palinka? Can I ask at my hotel if they know sb who makes it?

And general question - how about public transport in Budapest? Is it worth to buy "Budapest card"? Or use just one-time tickets?

I usuall get around with a daily card, not that expensive and can be used on any transportation.

Definetly the best offer you can get, I had one too

Again, all relative questions. I found the public transport to be lacking. Compared to Vienna, you have to walk a lot more because bus/tram/whatever stations aren't placed as dense all over the place. They are actually pretty far between by comparison. I'd buy the Budapest card for convenience.

Thanks guys for all your answers!
Hope it will be a good stay :)

i hope you get stabbed by a gypsy

bye

Nope my dubs will protect me

My Facebook profile pic is taken from that exact spot

these.
native hungarian living in neighboring coutry. try rakott káposzta, bableves, gulyásleves, Hortobágyi palacsinta, Nutellás palacsinta, paprikas csirke nokedlivel,...
keep an eye on gypsies around you and try not to wear any jewelry or expensive accessories. the club scene is very big and vibrant, I advise you join in for a night or two. as mentioned spend at least one full day at Gellért fürdö! Don't try to get in the outer districts of Buda, especially Pest, it's unnecessary because there is nothing to see and your safety is not ensured. If you got time drive down to the Balaton and get yourself an airbnb. Takes some hours with the car (highway) but it's worth it! hf & gg

>club scene is very big and vibrant
Budapest doesn't have anything "vibrant" to offer in comparison to cities in other countries. Compared to other hungarian cities? Sure, but compared to foreign cities, it's a snoozefest, a cultural wasteland.

as I said, native here. sure it's not comparable with Berlin, but with the neighboring countries for sure. Just as Prag is.

Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. Maybe they should advertise themselves better. I found the scene to be lacking. Every place I wound up at only played that awful shit radios play, that electroswing garbage, and other shit that only has rythm but no fucking melody. Meanwhile in Vienna I couldn't throw a rock without hitting a place that played decent music like trance. And none of that minimal garbage, real, melodic, contemporary uplifting trance.

Budapest is awesome.

But my best tip for you is to not ask for travel advice on fucking Sup Forums.

This is fake news

Not OP here but currently staying in Budapest.
Where would you advise me and my friends to buy weed from ? Ofc without paying 15€ per gram

Sure, Budapest is full of vibrant culture. Also gypsies are decent beings and pigs fly.

fucking this

protip: hungarian criminal law makes no distinction between weed and heroin, and possession is punishable with up to 8 years of prison

Unless you want to enjoy four years in prison, vanquish the mere idea from your thoughts. There is no distinction made between drugs, trying to buy weed is just as worse as trying to buy cocaine.

Yeah saw that on a few websites but we were planning on smoking a few J's during our stay, we're going to the Sziget Festival for the next 2 days so I guess there won't be lots of police controls on the island
