The old one died and I'm going to try and keep these threads around more often to force some life into them, lest we see the situation we had in winter again where the general died...

I think keeping them spaced out is what keeps them active with a lot of discussion
Have you ever noticed how the ones without topics usually do better? It's cause they waited a week so people weren't burnet out
i'm certainly one of the best in the revival
says I need to login to download from mega
whoever posted the links originally fucked up and forgot to include the encryption key in the links...
nobody notices half of the song the songs on this album are electro shoegaze and they are fucking awesome. Hex Girlfriend is a banger
I posted them and the mega links might be old Ill update it now
gimme some lewd shoegaze that isn't Curve or MBV, please.
Here:
It should work now

Sort of new to mega
Try La Casa Al Mare

Where's /Shugazi/ from?
YES YES YES
This song is literally such a great shoegaze song and it fucks with me that this album is so underappreciated
no idea what the lyrics are, but sounds great anyway. downloaded, thanks bud!
Does anyone have reccomendations similar to Melodys echo chamber?
What's your opinion on this?
uhh its not shugazi but tame impala is very similar...
I listened to it and it didnt catch me, sounded pretty standard, but I gotta relisten
Bought Two Airships/Exploder Falls today on vinyl. Can't wait. Is their newest record any good?
Pleb
referring to tame impala?
I mean if im a plebe for liking tame impala then im equally a plebe for liking melodys echo chamber, they have the exact same sound...
yo this is really good
if I've never listened to neon indian, should I start with this album and work out from there? are they worth checking out overall?
Most of his is stuff is chillwave/synthpop not shoegaze but its all pretty good. I would recommend psychic chasms as its a fantastic album even it isn't shoegaze. Night School is good but its just pure synthpop and doesn't have the great hazy atmosphere that era extrana and psychic chasms have.
My Bee's Garden - Hunt The Sleeper

Melody Prochet before she was in Melody's echo chamber incredibly comfy
Closer to dream pop than shugazi desu
>My Bee's Garden - Hunt The Sleeper
your link 404s for some reason

Pray for melody ;_;
>youtube.com
Oh thanks for relinking somehow i removed the t from watch
Been revisiting this lately and its so fckign good
Someone mispronouncing the word shoegaze like 'fugazi'. It stuck as a general name.
I think they are asking where people are from?
In that case britfag reporting in. I should probably sleep instead of trying to have any reading comprehension.
anyone have any info on this
discogs.com
i've listened to both of these already. I really liked Hunt the Sleeper but im still looking for more
>1985
whatever it is it probably sucks
I'm from western Pennsylvania
>tfw still no new grouper

why is this so good, lads? I've been listening to this song since it came out and it still gives me chills.
I get really confused with dream pop and shoegaze. What's the difference between them? What about post-punk and post-rock?
Some shit I've been digging recently:

Broadcast
dream pop is more poppy and focused on atmosphere
shoegaze is more rock and focused on timbre
post-punk and post-rock are completely seperate genres with "post" just meaning beyond the conventions of punk or rock music song structure while still keeping the key elements
post punk kind of precedes shoegaze (late 70s-mid 80s) and a lot of "shoegaze" has kind of a melancholy post punky sound as a base, with less synthesizers and more guitar effects. Dream pop is usually less rock/riff-oriented. It usually is more lyrical and has simple melodies with maybe some reverb for a dreamy atmosphere. That said, the genres all overlap with each other quite a bit.
I see.
>post punk kind of precedes shoegaze (late 70s-mid 80s)
Does that mean there is no contemporary post-punk?
there's post-punk revival (Strokes, White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand)
well there's always contemporary music of any genre somewhere, but im talking about when it first became popular. New Wave/Post Punk (very similar genres) were big in both US and UK, but in the UK post punk kind of evolved into shoegaze/ethereal wave (think early cocteau twins), whereas New Wave kind of died out in the US and was replaced by noise rock/alt rock/grunge
speaking of post-punk

Just came across this today and it blew me away. Very dense and murky post-rock-gaze with a few black metal parts.

That's one of my favorite songs of hers.
Really takes skill to make minimal open-tuned noodling sound so beautiful. Hope the new album will have more stuff like this or the Dead Deer sound; as much as I love the ambient stuff it does get a bit samey.
Anyone with a link to Capsule Giants - Blue Period (JP shoegaze)?
discogs.com
Thanks!
bump
This is where I come to find new music
Is Neon Indian shoegaze?
most definitely
I tried his other songs on yt but all sounds more of electric music. I wonder which one is his shoegaze album
sounds like the Drive OST but dreamier
>forgot link

Never mind I think I found one

Thanks I like it!
tell me why should i do it
Finally got the 'A place to bury strangers' sound right - sorta wanna leak the demo here to get some feedback
Anyone got some more harsh/noisy shoegaze recs btw?
because I don't have a copy and I'd like to listen to it?
Xinlisupreme, Astrobrite, Cosmicdust, Shinsei Kamattechan (or so I remember), Flying Saucer Attack
>Shinsei Kamattechan
wouldnt call this "harsh" noisey, more the kind of noise that is just pure chaos and dissonance.
also, because I'd be very grateful, if that's a thing
it's on slsk
try Dear Eloise
youtube.com
yeah, this is by far the best general on Sup Forums
Anybody got something similar to this?
private
hey fellas whats that album called that like japanese noise rock and the album cover is a close up of a girl with her hair over her face with sorta short hair
Midori - Shinsekai?
wrong thread for this but ehh
thanks user! sorry, i just say /noise/ in the subject
Future Sick is a pretty sweet track.
Favourite Japanese Shoegaze group? Mine is Tokyo Shoegazer, particularly their first album.
Helvetia
I'll check it out, thanks user.
NYC here
German Shoegaze. Sounds impossible, doesn't it?
Definitely Oeil for me. Both Urban Twilight and Myrtle are fantastic.
Apparently they're coming out with a 70 minute song
what's up /shugazi/
me and my buddy have been working on a shoegaze track. looking for some feedback. we haven't finished the lead guitar or recorded live drums for it yet but here it is with stock logic drums. thanks
Xinlisupreme?
Fairly generic but solid. Sorry I don't have anything really constructive to say, but it definitely seems like something I'd give a listen and maybe buy on bandcamp.
hey, i appreciate it! i agree the chord progressions are pretty generic. mostly my friend's writing. i'm handling things on the production end mostly. it's our first time attempting to record anything
Catch the Breeze live was the greatest moment of my life.
Anyone else seen them on their stateside tour?
tfw my friend got me a free ticket to see them and I couldn't because I had a final at the same time fuck me
Are there any plans to lay down vocals? As it is I don't really think it earns it length. Some vocal melody might keep it more interesting over its runtime.
Anyway, good job user, keep it up.
I saw them in DC, it was probably one of the best shows of my life. Japanese Breakfast was the icing on the cake.
Well the good news is the band seems to be pretty happy with life in the spotlight again, it doesn't seem like they're going anywhere anytime soon. You'll probably get another shot.
oh yeah definitely gonna add vocals and guitar leads and whatnot. last 2-3 minutes are gonna be a big noisey gaze breakdown. it's a very rough early demo haha. thanks man
I don't remember Myrtle being as good as Urban Twilight. That one was my jam though.
I like that Hannibal is becoming a /shugazi/ mascot.
Post moments that give you chills everytime

thanks senpai, happy to hear that you dig it. i'll be sure to post it in one of these threads whenever it's complete
pretty
Hi guys, I'm not huge into shoegaze, but I absolutely love the style of this song and was wondering if you guys could rec me anything similar. Thanks in advance
the embed starts 20 seconds early for some reason, but I'm talking about the song that starts at 34:37 (shoegazey part starts at 36:00)
The closest thing that I can think of is maybe Giles Corey.
his self-titled is one of those albums I've been meaning to come around to, thanks for the rec
The song that came to mind after listening to yours was Guilt is My Boyfriend.
Try slowcore. I'm not sure what noisy slowcore bands there are, but the one's I've listened to have that same feeling.
Duster is kinda noisy I guess.

>nothing this beautiful will ever come out again
Why live??? ;(
Stratosphere's cool, haven't listened to it in a little while I'll go back to it
Thanks
