I guess they have to keep it within the time limit. If there were more breaks between fights it would probably go on for 4-5 days rather than 3. I'd say my current set is something between 1500-2000€. My first set was around 1200€ but I've since upgraded some of my gear (shins, helmet, gauntlets, gambesons).
The cheapest sets are around 800€ if you order from Russian armorsmiths and get them delivered to an event like BOTN.
