Can someone explain to me why Jason Voorhees replaced this nice costume with an edgy hockey mask? The bag feels more real.

It's kind of generic
The hockey mask is more original

He got it from that fat guy he killed.
It's only "edgy" now, because it's seen as cliche. It was original then.

The only other slasher was wearing a Shatner mask. The sack evokes an authentic white trash feeling. Jason doesn't play hockey, he's an ugly brute

It's Shelley

Post best girls.

Kevin Bacon is always best girl

>"The only other slasher"

Good to know you have no knowledge of slashers. Extend your knowledge beyond Michael Myers, Jason and Freddy.

Isn't that Jason's mommy?

How many slashers were made before 1980?

Like a million man, tons. Honestly probably more than were made during the 80s. Mainly Italian and Spanish schlock mind you, but still

Not him, but did they wear masks?

Not him but some did.

It started with Halloween, the modern slasher film that made 'the mask' so iconic.

>Black Christmas
>Psycho
>Texas Chainsaw Massacre (how the fuck did this escape you?)
>Silent Night, Bloody Night
>Alice Sweet Alice
>Alien

No, Pamela ran around killing people while wearing a comfy sweater.

I can't wait to kill people as Pamela in the game

wasn't that his mom?

When's it out? Next month?

True, I dislike Halloween and think that just about everything it does was done better in 74 by Black Christmas, but its one genuine innovation was the mask

>implying that Halloween wasn't the first real slasher movie The tropes existed before, but Halloween was the first to bring them together. Think of progressive rock, all the elements of prog existed before ItCotCK came out in 1969, but ItCotCK was the first to bring them together. Stuff like Sgt Pepper's, The Who Sell Out were just psychedelic rock, not progressive rock. Likewise, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Psycho were just horror films, not slasher films.
>implying Friday the 13th wasn't a blatant ripoff of Halloween

She isn't going to be in the game. They didn't hit the stretch goal. Practically guaranteed as DLC down the line though.

Officially, Fall 2016...meaning it could be a few days before Christmas. But I expect a delay into 2017 because they haven't shown much footage and it doesn't feel nearly complete to me.

All I know is that the steam page says Fall 2016

I love Halloween, but I agree with the guy above you. It had 2 major innovations: the mask and the un-killable monster. Carpenter even planned for Halloween to be a Black Christmas sequel. Not only that, but Halloween was majorly influenced by Psycho and Texas Chainsaw, too.

Damn it, I wanted to go around screaming

>Kill them mommy!

You don't know what a real slasher movie is. Especially if you think they all must include the same exact beats and cliches, and all must feature teenage machete fodder as characters. Dig deeper, little man

This.

They said during the Pax West panel it took a fuck load of time to design each iteration of Jason so I'm guessing that she won't be in the game proper but will be in the DLC.

I'm more excited to see the new Jason Tom Savini designed.

I can't wait to go around killing fools in the game with this outfit.
It's just way more atmospheric and terrifying. It actually evokes a sense of horror.

Though, obviously, if I get the option, this is my ultimate choice.

Tbh this game looks shitty as fuck
I watched one trailer and all the killing animations looked identical, like you don't get to stab them but you get close, press a button and it activates a cut scene where people are stabbed
this will be a major disappointment for all of you, mark my words

Do you think Ft13 could've worked as an episode of The X-Files? Just look at the episode Home.

There are dozens of different contextual kills and they've said you can also just slash at people on the spot. They can get wounded and heal themselves. A kickstarter update mentioned Resident Evil style first aid sprays.

Best Jason look coming through.

The sack wasn't even original. The hockey mask was.

crystal lake facility level when?

I think campers will need a few more escape options. Since just looking at Jason will make him notice you, and he can teleport, too.

What movie?
Hey, that sack has TWO holes. This has one.

But he doesn't wear overalls!

There's no fucking way it actually lets you play as Jason and just chase people and fucking murder the shit out of them. That's too good to be true, we're not allowed to have good things anymore.

That'd be 7 I think.

What are some kino slasher movies? Looking for ones where the killer is not an unkillable zombie or anything like that. Something more realistic. The obvious ones are Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Black Christmas, whatever this is , and Scream.

Also with atmosphere though, something truly scary and also inventive, with a genuinely interesting and unique killer.

Any movies like this?

Yes, the catch is that people will get bored eventually, and move on. How fast it happens depends on how good the game is.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Halloween is the most kino of all the slashers, seeing as how it was made by one of the most accomplished and well-respected directors of all time.

>I've seen 1 trailer and don't know shit about the game
>let me educate you plebs who have actually kept up with the game's development

Look into Italian giallo films, lots of good stuff there

Well, it's a multiplayer game, so if you hate that...

I never said anything of the sort. I'm just saying that Halloween was the first definitive slasher. All the others have slasher elements, but they're not truly slashers.

1. Halloween sucks
2. Carpenter is not accomplished or well respected, he made like a total of 3 good movies and even then they have all been genre stuff. The general public and critics only like The Thing, and rightfully so since it's his best by far. Halloween is absolute garbage and probably his worst film, even his new complete trash is more entertaining

Also forgot to mention American Psycho falls into the realistic slasher group.

You are sticking to this idea of the "slasher" film as something that must be kids in woods/suburb/etc. getting cut up by some cunt in a mask. My criteria for a slasher is pretty much that it must be a horror film about someone who slashes other people

TELL ME ABOUT JASON WHY DOES HE WEAR THE MASK/BAG

All I've ever wanted since I was a little boy was to be Jason Voorhees and brutally kill people, I just want a gorey interactive snuff torture porn game where I'm the legend himself.

You better hope you're right pal cause I'm gonna be laughing pretty damn hard here in a few months if you aren't

You answered your own question. Scream is the greatest slasher of all-time.

Because he has hydrocephaly and is pretty ugly

It's really not a slasher, though. It's a character study drama wherein the protagonist is a serial killer.

>All I've ever wanted since I was a little boy was to be Jason Voorhees and brutally kill people
Huh. I wanted to be The Thing.

Scream is a meme movie. Deconstruction doesn't make something good. It's just going

>Wow, look at how stupid this is, so we're going to do it!

Scream is the logical evolution of slashers. There was no need for another slasher film after that.

It's too convoluted to project yourself onto a creature that could potentially become a godlike being if it ate a planet worth of life.

But we never got a good movie involving power drills.

I'm pretty sure that happened in Martyrs or something like that.

>Pamela killed teens and any involved with Crystal Lake because their negligence killed her son.
>Jason is getting revenge on the people who killed his mother for killing

Series makes no sense

>the actions of these deranged serial killers with heavy psychosis do not conform to my logic

I'll kill you for shittalking Jason for killing, this is real life.

Serial killers conform to an internal logic.

>not valuing your mother's life over a bunch of shit-eating teens
>not killing them for killing your mom, regardless of their motives
faggot

Killing random teens isn't going to bring your mother back. At least Pamela decided to only kill people at the camp.

When Jason is going around killing people in a barn or a party, it feels pointless. And Jason also kills people completely unrelated to the teen stereotype, like old people.

And who are you to determine their internal logic? Jason can't talk, you don't know what he's thinking at any given moment.

I think it's also
>bullied
>hate the world
>kill everyone
It's pretty simple

I think that after 10+ movies, we can figure out what Jason likes, and doesn't like

Bullshit, the killer wore one in Alice, Sweet Alice. If anything it started there

Another dumbass, Black Christmas is widely considered to be the first real slasher film and even then that's not totally correct

christ, you have no idea what a slasher movie is

Premarital sex.

You're gay.

What is the difference between flirty by 1980 standards, and flirty by 2016 standards?

I wouldn't know from personal experience.

is this bait?

bane?

>italian slashers
man, I don't even want to know what kind of tripe they made.
