I remember mostly nothing about that album except the ending having this interesting weird thing where Jamie says a bunch of sentences
It isn't really an album I remembered much of or thought was notably good, but it's an alright thing that isn't bad at all.

Wrong, every other track on this thing is a memorable banger. And it's not Jamie at the end it's a drag queen.

2017 has been a good year for going over your musical backlog.

correct answer
excellent couple of albums, definitely up there.
saw them live and actually really like the new album. not quite AOTY but definitely top quarter of albums I've listened to.
they opened for Slowdive and were painfully average live. album is unremarkable too.
good, but check out Taiwan Housing Project - Veblen Death Mask to really get things going in that vein.
I actually really like these.
here's my list:
Expressway Yo-Yo Dieting - Undone Harmony Following (9/10)
Xiu Xiu - FORGET (9/10)
Colin Stetson - All This I Do For Glory (8/10)
IDLES - Brutalism (8/10)
The Caretaker - Everywhere at the End of Time Stage 2 (8/10)
Various Artists - Mono No Aware (8/10)
Taiwan Housing Project - Veblen Death Mask (8/10)
Mark Templeton - Gentle Heart (8/10)
Oxbow - The Thin Black Duke (8/10)
Sun Kil Moon - Common As Light and Love Are Red Valleys of Blood (8/10)
>they opened for Slowdive and were painfully average live
Dunno why everyone says this. I saw them open for Alex G and got way more enjoyment out of their >30 minute set than his entire 90 minutes
Have yet to listen to the album though
okay part of it is my disinterest in the "concept" of the new album. they talked about the robot stuff a bit on stage and it wasn't compelling to me in the slightest. then the performance was dull and mainly felt like a "we're just happy to be here" opening for a legendary band. and it's not like I had any expectations going in, it just fell flat for me.
