I prefer hardcore punk/hardcore and pop punk rather than just your standard "oi oi oi" punk or ska.
Punks are generally dickheads, they have an attitude problem a lot of the time.

I don't understand why a music genre needs to have a "subculture".

I like punk, many forms of rock, country, blues, and live jazz. But I don't subscribe to any of their subcultures.

Congratulations.

Real Punk died in the '80s. Only thing left is posers.

Punk is ok if it's the right shade. Punkers are mostly alright...

cept for crustpunks, I hate those fuckers.

Punkfag here, can confirm that crusters are piece of shit bums that are a drain on everything and aren't even punks since they're dependent on everything being done for them,

Music is goten used as an expression of culture, and as it usually does not conform to the dominant culture, it forms a subculture or counter-culture. As a people we trend to look for like-minded individuals, in this case punk. You not feeling the need to subscribe to a specific one based on music does not make it irrelevant. After all, you are on Sup Forums, which apparently means you feel comfortable among the peadophiles and edgy teenagers.

What's the difference between real punk and posers? Please explain.

Punk used to be good until around 2014 when the narrative turned into "all straight white men are evil". It all went downhill from there.

wear a condom when you fuck their women. great lays but usually got herps. some of the best fucks of my life were from neon haired "anarchist" broads.

Listen to Fugazi and see for yourself

I need pics of the bitch in the background to make a better informed decision.

in both cases, some of it is awesome, a lot of it blows goats and most of it's Meh.

Either it's teenagers, or adults failing in life.In any case, displaying what you think you are like you have to prove something is really cringy, when i see those type of person i instantly think they are boring, since they just look like what they are

punk was the first, unsuccessful attempt at glam, but failed horribly as the punk movement only managed to produce a single hit song (sheena is a punk rocker).

I almost exclusively listen to punk music but would absolutely not fit in with the punk subculture

This.

TDKs are my favorite band of all time but instead of failing against the govt. And rich people, Jello's latest work is all about SocJus BS.

I used to be really into anarcho crust punk when i was younger. Dressed like a faggot and everything. then i grew up and realized that fashion is for girls and i quit wearing my lame ass punk costume. I still appreciate punk but i think the way they dress is embarrassing and attention-seeking. The realest punks I ever met dress in cheap plain clothes and live what they preach

>music
couldn't care less
>punks and their "culture"
smelly alcoholics who beg for money aggresively. disgusting people

i like most of it, but i can do without the green hair and "tear down the state" thing

Punk= prison bitch

The culture is Jewish bullshit, the music is the worst you will ever hear

they're retards, basically

I hate punk pop, which is basically emo, which is like punk's version of hair metal.
The rest of it is pretty cool. Punk girls are sexy. Punk guys usually come across as petulant dicks.

Real punk died in the '70s. Only thing left is posers.

i like thrash-punk. the stuff that's just straight up nihilism without the preachy whining about political reform, peace, vegan diet, peta shit.

give me speed noise, danger, hedonism and destruction. if you're burning it all down for anything besides the fire's sake, you're a hippie who found hairdye and a bedazzler

love crustpunk/hardcore punk
saw the casualties, exploited, leftover crack and some bunch more bands. what is op's opinion on the casualties? because the rape incident glad he left tho.

The punk scene in my area: (Inland Empire California)

The oi & street punks dress in their little costumes, all the local music sounds the same, and they think drinking and smoking makes them cool. Too afraid to do drugs or commit crime besides open container in public at worst. Hardly anti establishment, all they do is dress different and drink in public but they are ultimately apathetic to politics or liberal sheep.

The crust punks are the alt-left liberal sheep of the punk community most (like myself) listen to crass and other anarchist bands that preach veganism and feminism but most treat their girlfriends like shit and eat meat. Most of em are all alcoholics and heroin addicts. From the suburbs they dress in costume. As they hit adulthood reality hits and they become homeless couch surfing bums.

Ska punks all look like the faggot from Smash Mouth and they have no political standing or if they do it's a leftist sheep mentality. Too afraid to do drugs, drink in moderation, obsessed with black and white checkered patterns... basically the autistic stepbrother to street punk

Then you got normie punk like Reel Big Fish fans... I have nothing to say about the normies they just like the music even though punk music essentially sucks and all sounds the same. They don't have strong political or social views worth fighting for.

Then you got the folk punks who are basically crust punks without electricity. Always riding trains drinking steel reserve and slamming black tar heroin bummin money at the bus stop with a banjoe and a washboard. Too busy trying to find a place to sleep and picking up a bag off some unknown connect in a foreign city to be preaching social and political values.

Posers only dress up in their punk costume when they go to shows but dress normal around their suburban families, typically leftist sheep with no ability to form their own opinion. Crass and sex pistols patches on the same jacket.

All have low self esteem

Used to be one. Now i think it's ridiculous.

antifa killed it

well, the culture isn't that bad the only problem is antifa

It's not cool anymore here because Sup Forums are now right wing traditionalists

Except when it comes to what they masturbate to

The only punks I see are the punk with dogs in my street they do nothing but taking drugs, getting drunk and dirty; and trying to get some money from tourists from time to time. For the music I used to listen the exploited when I was a teenager but quickly stopped cause it s pretty basic and shitty.

antifa is full of edgy kids that buy black clothes from their shitty jobs while having a iphone and drink starbucks with patches and flags that say 'capitalisme' also like telling that everyone who loves trump is a nazi and should kill themself

Was big into the Toronto/Montreal/Ottawa punk scene. A lot of good people I know are now dead or presumed dead (or might as well be dead)

A decent amount though are completely awesome functioning members of society with actual jobs and houses, cars, mortgages and families. These days we just get our kicks on the weekend having a couple of beers away from the family and enjoy some solid tunes. Not too many decent bands left, but let's hope the next generation get pissed off enough to make some decent punk again and not just mash buttons on a laptop or stare at their fucking shoes.

lol let's argue with them the antifa style

We used to just sit back and watch Skinheads on both sides beat the shit out of each other while we just drank and laughed. That was the best way to do it.

Sup Forums that a way ----->

Punk for lyfe

theres no real punk outside of britain, really. it is after all a product of the british government being shit and some people going "you kbow what, fuck this, i disagree and i have something to say" the music was never as important as the message that was being sent, and todays shit really isnt the same. the whole anarchy shabang is cool and all but if youre not gonna do anything about it you can fuck off

Pic related, it was me back 13 years ago. Punk subculture claims to have no rules and do whatever you want but so many punks follow such a strict guideline. You can only be like this, dont do that. It got really annoying. Rancid however will always be a favourite.

what's the difference between now and then? what changed in your music/clothing style?

I'm 28 now, own a house and drive a family SUV. I guess I sold out. I listen to everything now, metal, rap, punk whatever.

when did you realise the punk life wasn't ment for you?

Aggressive and more hardcore punk is good. Haven't met any punks but the older generations of the subculture seem way better

Shit tons of this. Was involved with the scene for 15 years, did booking, merch, hosted bands, seen more shows than I can remember.
Was a lot of fun when it was about the music and camaraderie, no matter who you were, you were treated as an equal. I watched the SJW bullshit start to eat away at whatever unity they had as early as 2010. Suddenly all the girls stopped getting in the pit, and the ugliest ones became the biggest "activists". I like a lot of the anarcho-crust shit and still enjoy my powerviolence(see hardcore for fat kids) but the fact that our group would accept anyone made the already weak minded beta males turn omega the louder the females got. Part of the reason why my gfs were always from outside the scene.
It used to be ideals, now it's just infighting and tons of minuscule rules that get you ostracized. My leathers and squats will continue to collect dust. I will miss sitting around and taking turns introducing each other to new bands or leaving a show drunk and bruised.
Also, glam came first you dumb nigger. 1st wave glam was Bowie, Gary Glitters, Slade, shit like that. Who do you think the Dolls modeled themselves after?

I love their hairstyle...

Punk died when I stopped going to shows.

I've actually been trying to start a an-cap/alt right punk band for a while. But a bass and lyrics alone does not a punk band make.

I've been thinking about learning to play the guitar and eventually try to find a band

Best decision you'll ever make learning an instrument.
I think Sup Forums should have it's own personal punk band.

Would be hilarious to make music the way Analog by Nature does. But yeah learning to play guitar would be fun and an easy way to get sluts on your dick

punk is legitimately the easiest genre to play but the most fun to play in my opinion.
just primal and fun
if you're anywhere in SoCal i'm always okay with more people to jam with

It's basically autism before autism was invented.

It's kinda supposed to be easy to play and get shit off your chest. Don't live in the US so I can't meet you bro

punks are the worst subhumans except jews and muslims

But niggers are ok now?
>priorities

That guy is amazing
Im from colorado but after i get off probation i plan on moving to either california massachusetts or back to puerto rico. If i do get to cali i'll definitely look you up

Never got into the music but love their energy and colourful insults

All of you guys referencing SJWs must have not been around for the early 90s. Plenty of word policing back then, but the main difference being that social media wasn't there yet, so callout culture wasn't in full swing.

Spikey jacket punks are lameass halfheads in halloween costumes.

Punk still rules. Plenty of good bands are cropping up from time to time and there has been a great deal of cross-pollination in different subcultural scenes under the punk umbrella. There's still plenty of trend-hopping, but that's nothing new and different.

There have been a bunch of great punk records put out in the last few years by bands like Nurse, the Impalers, Slimy Member, Hurula, Zero, Lumpy and the Dumpers; The War Goes On; Sunshine Ward; Storm of Sedition...it's a great time, musically.

The fact you actually care shows how pathetic you are.

Punk is and was always shit. Long live metal

Thanks Trump. Your input was highly valued here.

punks dead
/thread
now fuck off an post porn

been learning guitar for a few months now to eventually learn how to play folk punk a la Days n Daze, Johnny Hobo and the freight trains etc.
shits really fucking hard because Punk is played so stupidly fast.

Even Blitzkrieg Bop, which is like a song you can learn within an hour of picking up a guitar for the first time is frustrating because of the tempo.
So be prepared to be pissed off a lot in the beginning. I sure as shit am.

history and music is alright
the fanbase sucks.

That's kind of the point, though. Social media allowed those boils of idiocy to fester and burst, infecting the rest of the scene

Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?
Good night.

Agreed. I also like post-punk. I like GG Allin, Dead Milkmen, Violent Femmes, The Damned, Ramones, Minor Threat, Black Flag.. lots more

It's not that bad you just gotta practise every day
I only recently started playing bass Since maybe february and i just play it every day for at least an hour or so
vocaroo.com/i/s0NZ8y8ar4pk

The drums and guitar were from a game called punk-0-matic but the bass is all me.

Fuck it, posting album covers

It's the same with satanism. All those losers doing rituals and dressing funny are attention seeking posers. A real satanist could blend in with any crowd - be it a work crew or in a board room - and nobody would know he's a satanist.

Fugazi was good and kept up punk ethics for a good while into the 90's and 2000's though

Love you, Fugazi was amazing

Fugazi was life man

Do you understand that if the next gen is to get pissed, they will get pissed at your generation?
You get that, right?

Watch "instrument" it's their documentary. Really infuriating, every time someone in the crowd starts to move or it looks like a pit is gonna start Ian stops the band from playing until people stand still again like it's a performance art piece.
>no fun allowed

Haaaaaa - assholes

Fugazi and Ian's prior band Minor Threat were the shit. You ever listen to Crass? Punk ethics to the max, they were losing money producing albums because they let people choose the price. Punk heroes IMO.

This is a weird opinion from a metal head. Listen to discharge

youtu.be/4pfiLjL6-HI

i couldnt get into it because i was more of a metalhead, but ive been listening to some crust punk and psychobilly for a while now
