How does Sup Forums organize their porn folders?
In the past, I've tried meticulously organizing it with plenty of sub-folders, but it made organization much more time-consuming and tedious.
Since it's unlikely that I'll ever share it with anyone, I figure it would be much more convenient for myself & easier to maintain if I were to stick to a more simple approach.

Because I'm not a casual. You can get higher-quality videos by downloading them, and you don't have to worry about your favourite videos being deleted. It's also just fun to collect, and it's something that I've been doing for years.
Basically it's split up into incest manga, non-incest manga, and sex stories.

yeah is better many sub folders at one level but not excess for example:
creep folder contains creep, candid, voyeur and upskirts. but if i got pics of sharking i make a subfolder because i like so much dat shit

The problem with that is that there is too much crossover. Tagging really is the way to go but I haven't found a good solution for it.

Be honest: do you ever really need to find a particular thing so badly that the organization comes in handy? Or do you just get in a mood for a certain specific category and only want to see that? If not, consider just putting all your images in one big folder.
For me, I put any large 'sets' in their own sub folder of a folder called "sets". Individual pics unrelated to one another (or sets of 3 or fewer) all go in one big folder. For me personally, it's more fun to look at them this way because I can open one with ACDSee32 Version 2.41 and then start a randomized timed slideshow, or hit spacebar to change to a random image. This way, I don't know what's coming next - which adds some excitement to my session.
For videos, I do a similar thing, putting them all on a playlist in Media Player Classic and then randomizing the playlist. It takes forever to add my entire folder to the playlist, but I can always save it once that's done and access my collection at random quickly.

That's a nice collection. I just got a 4tb external hardrive, so I'm in the process of transferring over my porn folders from previous computers/laptops.
I'd assume it would be easier with some type of file management software, but you could try sorting by filetype, and just selecting the 1st jpeg, scrolling down to the bottom and shift+clicking the last item on the list (if you're on Windows).
Top Levels are: Women, Straight, Lesbian, Shemale/Trap, Bisexual, Men, Gay.
Sub folder, Women, for example, is: Tits, Ass, Pussy, Nude, Non Nude, Fetish,
Third Level, Ass, for example: Creep, BBW, hairy, public, milf, etc - get as granular as you like on this level.
My second level Fetish folder would include folders like pissing, feet, faces, etc.
I don't like going more than 3 levels deep -
maybe 4 in my fetish folder. I prefer to have a smaller number of top level folders then allow myself to get more granular i.e. have a greater number of folders in the next level and more folders in the third.
When downloading it makes it easy to organise as the top level is general, and you just quickly drill down and save in the correct place.

I used to do it by file type (gif, webm, jpg), but now I'm working on a numerical category system with mixed media. The only thing that's hard is deciding which folder a picture goes in when it has two porn stars with their own folders.

What do you do when something includes multiple categories? Do you make a decision and risk not finding it again when you need it or do you duplicate the file to all subfolders?

Yes. Occasionally I'll use a slideshow for a particular category, so thanks for the tips.

has a filter strict to more flexible and yeah find duplicates of different sizes and has an autoselect very useful. is light and fast too
Yeah, it does very well. Sometimes it thinks two images are the same if the color quality is similar, but you can adjust the threshold a bit.
Go for it, man, it's never perfect like I said. It never will be, just accept that... but this is the best system I've come up with in 20 years of downloading, saving, organizing all this shit! lol...
It's a balnce between having everything organised AND making it easy to put things in the correct folders when you're downloading. The less levels deep you go the quicker to put in the correct folder when downloading.

I switched over to using the number codes because it was getting hard to find things with just names.
My celebrity folder is slightly different but goes like this, again for ease of organising when downloading:
Women, Celebrities, M, MILEY, Miley Cyrus
Women, Celebrities, H, HOLLY, Holly Willoughby
Women, Celebrities, J, JENNIFER, J-Lo
I add the first name folder because there are a ton of Jennifers for example. I organise by first name because it's easier to think this way when downloading I find
