So its finally happened, my computer is almost out of memory. Even after uninstalling anything I don't use frequently anymore I only have 6GB left from 2TB.
I have little knowledge on this sort of stuff so does anybody know if there is a safe way to save stuff on external storage or if there is another solution?.
Get some USB sticks and put the stuff you use the least on there. Or an external USB backup drive. I dunno. Do whatever you want.

Delete all your porn. That should almost free up your whole HDD capacity.
> safe way What do you understand under safe?
Camden Clark
Will take me quite a while to save the money. Last time I tried USB some of my files corrupted so i'm reluctant to use them. My porn folder would only get me roughly 8gb back if I got rid of it.
Huh this is much cheaper than I would expect. Is it mostly reliable to not corrupt files?

So you're afraid of data corruption - which is a thing when you transfer over USB and something fucky happens in your OS while you do.
The most reliable way of transfering big amounts of data is to plug in another HDD into a free SATA-port of your motherboard, boot from a live-linux of some sort and transfer the data between the HDDs. Never had any problems doing it that way, but destroyed some valuable data trying to backup through USB to an external drive.

Just buy a small internal drive, say 250gb. Install it. Use mini tool partition wizard to migrate your os to the new drive. Make sure you only migrate your os and not your user created files. Once running from your new drive delete all your os files on your 2tb drive and then use 2tb as storage. Good luck.

Tbh I dont own one, I just looked up "1TB external HDD"

This sounds like a good idea. Again might take a while to save up for one but I can just be careful in the meantime. Sorry but I have no idea whats involved with partitioning Still thanks, I can now look at similar products and try to find one that would work.

well you dont particularely need a new one, you could, let's say, get an unused one from school/work/friends etc and at least secure the most important data first and migrate the rest when you do have enough shekels to buy a new one.
In the meantime, download WinDirStat and let it scan your HDD so you know the biggest files and caves in your drive that eats away the capacity. Im sure you'll find a lot of stuff you wouldn't need in the results.
And for the future: When you install your OS, make sure to partition your HDD in a way that your data are seperate from your OS so you can safely reinstall the OS without touching the data.

sign up for a bunch of free cloud storage accounts. Dropbox, Amazon. OneDrive, Google Drive, etc and throw all of your shit on there. If you live in the US, I'll ship you one of these drives I have laying around in the pic.

I know someone who might have one spare; ill also have a look at the tool. I have no idea if that was done on my pc or not as I got my friend to set up my computer. Even helped me build it since i'm not the best with computers. Thanks for the offer user but i'm from the uk. ill get some cloud storage for now know I forgot that was a thing lol.
Jeremiah Adams
np. Also, I think there's a thing called like odrive or something like that that combines all of them like one big drive.
Caleb Flores
Just searched for it and yea that's worth a try too.
Jack Clark
obviously you use a fuckload of stuff. get a second hdd. not that hard to solve this problem
Nathaniel Butler
You just need to download remote access memory.

ohhh and another thing I forgot. Telegram lets you message yourself unlimited files up to 1.5gb in size. I have a ton of shit backed up on there I don't want to lose or have access to on all my devices.
Jack Ross
Indeed. Much of it is just ridiculously heavy on memory too such as eso. Takes up like 70gb alone. How does that work user? Indeed. Also nice dubs. I'll take a look, thanks again.
