If yes, post your top 10 albums of all time (be honest!), followed by your obscurity score.
How can you know your obscurity score? Pretty easy. 1) Go to RYM and write the number of ratings for each of your 10 favorite albums. 2) Write the following formula into google (replacing all the "x"s with the amount of RYM ratings for each album). (log(x)+log(x)+log(x)+log(x)+log(x)+log(x)+log(x)+log(x)+log(x)+log(x))/10 3) ??? 4) PROFIT!
Now, do you ACTUALLY belong on Sup Forums? >4.0+ You have to go back >3.5 to 3.9 Sup Forumsdrone, lurk more before posting again. >3.0 to 3.4 Not a Sup Forumsdrone, but you should explore less popular music more. >2.5 to 2.9 Good taste, you keep Sup Forums quality high. >2.0 to 2.4 Great taste, Sup Forums should follow your example. >0 to 1.9 Awesome taste. Are you sure you didn't cheat though?

Dunno, I'm guessing that OP is thinking about how Sup Forums works - to have quality music, a lively board etc. you need to constantly inject new, interesting content, such as more "obscure" music, thus the value of one's taste in the context of symbolic production of this board.
I mean, it's kind of the only way I can understand this coherently outside inane memery

Man, I don't give a shit about rym. Only go there for the lists, sometimes. Some autists are nice enough to weighten their taste with an objective-looking score system, and perusing them it's always fun. I got the album from a sharethread on here, downloaded it among many others, listened to it and liked it. There's not much more to it, no pretension of obscurity or knowledge of musical theory. It's sounds I like, as all the other albums. Maybe I tricked myself, progressively, into liking this kind of sound over others, for social or cultural capital, internalized prejudices or whatever. Still, I like it, and I don't need anything more.

Wow...you know believing that someone has a bad taste in music because it's popular is the same fallacy as believing something is good because it's popular. I could list ten shitty albums from local metal bands and your system would tell me that I had the best taste on the entire fucking planet.

Yeah, he did it wrong.
That's what I did once I posted the first thread, but this thread wasn't posted by me.

It wasn't me this time, I would have posted the updated version. It's not like Sup Forums makes the same threads every single day anyways.

can't wait to do some autistic algorithmic formula so I can get approval by some fat neckbeard on Sup Forums
Asher Sanchez
Because it's using an old formula It's log 10, but you don't need to know because you are being told to input it into google >a single album with no ratings will cause a singularity in which case you assume one person (you) has rated it
Log 10. I think which log is being used is irrelevant though. And the logic behind the formula is to adjust by popularity in a way that's not completely retarded (like lastfm's formula which is basically listeners of artist X / listeners of most listened to artist). Getting a score above 50% is almost impossible that way, and the difference between an artist with 10'000 listeners and 100 listeners is basically none. The current updated formula is this one desmos.com/calculator/ptujhbipfc Just put your Google score into the o formula and the result you get at z tells you how much obscure your taste is compared to Sup Forums
>if you like classical music No, because the updated takes into account listeners of a specific artist by last.fm This thread should be deleted because it's not updated.
