A fucking decade later

>a fucking decade later
>not ONE sci-fi released since then has matched BSG

Seriously, is sci-fi fucking dead?

>Seriously, is sci-fi fucking dead?
On Television? Yes. At least in the traditional "Space Opera" sense of the term.

No Star Trek is back for revenge in January.

Have to admit I never got into BSG i dunno what it was. Love the space combat but everything else was boring to me. I keep trying to rewatch it.

There's been lots of Sci Fi movies since BSG that were much better.

>Seriously, is sci-fi fucking dead?
Yeah? Where the fuck have you been for 30 years, as a genre regardless of format it remains dead in the water

Except for 3 of the 10 highest grossing films of all time.

the expanse is good, i liked stargate universe more than i should have(solely for robert carlyle), Humans and Utopia are both fantastic. all other sci-fi has been crap

Watch The Expanse, pham.
Top tier sci-fi tbqhwy.

Well I don't think it's dead but it's certainly been bad. Bsg is one of my favorite shows.
I think Maybe the new star trek will revive something but it will really dépend how they do it. As much as I loved the previous tng or deep space nine, not many today would sit through a Season dragging as much as they did.

>There will never be any good media starring robots
>Including future documentaries

Time to die.

>No Star Trek is back for revenge in January
>having the audacity calling that SJW-infested abomination "star trek"
>not immediately killing yourself

You and I both know that discovery is gonna be filled with leftist tumblr-tier bullshit to push a point, and totally miss the original point made by roddenberry in the process

not one show since BSG has started off so strong and nosedived so had in the final season.

You obviously have no idea what Star Trek is supposed to be. Please end your life.

>Star Trek
>not filled with leftist bullshit

You do realise Earth at that point is basically full communism?

yes. give it a few years and they'll come up with something good and new, that everyone will copy and beat to death.

The show was never solely about socialism or social justice you dumb fucks, it was merely an element, it was ham-fisted, it wasn't shoved down your throat every 2 seconds, it was just fucking there

"There is a black woman on the bridge of a goddamn star ship during the 60's, so fucking what? Who cares? We have alien worlds to discover and themes of humanity and its place in the universe we need to address".

This new series is going to be the total fucking opposite and you know it.

"There's alien worlds we have to discover and themes of humanity and its place in the universe we need to address. So what? Who cares? We have a transsexual other-kin demi-pen-queer-vestite-undefined gendered homo-trisexual on the bridge!"

to be fair Star Trek's "communism" is just the logical result of a post-scarcity society, its not saying communism is preferable right now or something like that

>"The economics of the future is somewhat different. You see, money doesn't exist in the 24th century. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives. We work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity."

>"A lot has changed in the past three hundred years. People are no longer obsessed with the accumulation of things. We've eliminated hunger, want, the need for possessions. We've grown out of our infancy."

totally not in your face at all

No, but it does give an ethical and material template to strive towards.

>documentaries starring robots in the future will be considered science fiction

kys

humanity, aside from maybe a couple of sociopathic assholes, is already striving for a post-scarcity society anyways

The elimination of hunger and wealth are not social accomplishments but technological ones. After all what's the point of wealth when you can just print anything you want for free and when the only quality that matters anymore in a job is personal satisfaction a lot of people would strive towards bettering ourselves and humanity anyways.

Post-scarcity is impossible under a system of private accumulative ownership. Wealth would have to collectively owned to produce such a society.

Glad that Sup Forums likes BSG tonight.

given the technology in star trek any attempt to artificially induce scarcity would be morally and ethically reprehensible and would naturally lead to mass scale revolts

Upgrade to Legend of the Galactic Heroes you pleb.
>no seriously
>10/10 series that will NEVER get a live-action adaptation because the underclasses might start thinking too much

I think that's kind of the point

Had the chance to be GOAT, ruined it with "GOD DID IT!" trash.

>tfw you found a POV porn of a girl that looked exactly like Katee Sackhoff with brown hair years ago
>tfw you never saved it
>tfw you have searched for years and can't find it again
feels bad man

Where did he say science fiction?

What is the expanse
