First track is the best

>first track is the best
>album gradually meanders in a downward spiral
>last track is the worst

Why do 99.99% of albums do this?

Name 1.75 albums that do this

Sounds like you just can't focus

...

Nearly every song is better than Only Shallow

...

I'm not contrarian, you're just a secondary

I've heard several thousand albums and even the mediocre ones I wouldn't describe this way

Anybody who doesn't recognize that Only Shallow is the best song on the album is a contrarian by definition

It's To Here Knows When. Most people who actually like shoegaze think its that one, When You Sleep, or What You Want.

>bands first album is a live album

...

...

Are you kidding, the second half of the album is better than the first

It kind of meanders down a downward spiral, just not quality-wise.

When You Sleep and Blown a Wish are the best tracks though.

>I COULD BE IN LOVE WITH ALMOST EVERYONE

normies stan "somewhere" above all else. only Sup Forumstants actually like "only shallow"

this fucking album

I do think there are much better tracks on the album, but I'll be damned if that snare at the beginning doesn't get me hard every time.

I literally don't know any album that does this.Even when you have frontloaded normie albums like First Impressions of Earth or that Timberlake album, there is always a track that shines more than the first, including the last one.

The closest thing to get worse and worse I know,is Pornography, speaking emotionally and in terms of darkness(the quality is consistent all the way through)

the internet age has really dis-incentivized putting some of the best tracks at the end because of how harshly the drop-off of listens is after the first track or two

>first few songs are pretty conventional then at some point the album turns dark and experimental
>mfw

Chinese democracy -- guns and roses

sounds like adhd/depression or something in that vein
in any case externalizing it will only make it worse
albums are fine, you are not.

Dark: Moving in Stereo
Experimental: I'm in Touch With Your World

except the whole thing is bad

This does it too. As soon as you hear those fucked up synths on Empire State Human that's when you KNOW.

what Imagine Dragons work is that

objectively wrong

Agree
Forever Changes is a masterpiece

Those two tracks are major turning points for the album. The Cars are very subtle about it, like total pros actually. I'm In Touch With Your World sets a more mysterious tone for the next set of tracks and Moving In Stereo takes it to the breaking point which makes All Mixed Up so incredibly effective as a closer. It has so much tension to release.
