‘Raw’: French Cannibal Movie Causes Multiple Moviegoers to Pass Out at TIFF

FUCK.

>About this time every year, there’s a festival horror hit that breaks out with big buzz, but the biggest buzz of all usually pops up when a soft-hearted patron or two who just can’t stomach the gore. Such is the case with the Midnight Madness cannibal film Raw, which proved too intense for some TIFF moviegoers earlier this week when a screening ended in a call to the local paramedics.

>THR reports that an ambulance was called the Midnight Madness screening after multiple audience members fainted in the midst of the body horror and bloodshed.

Sounds like a bunch of pussies desu.

>French

oh, right.

>horror movie
dropped. Literally the same tier as capeshit

Lightweights like this always make movies like this seem darker/edgier/etc than they really are. There is nothing a company loves more than filling a theater with a bunch of easily scared normie lightweights who will make their movie seem like the second coming of Satan.

I bet it's not even that bad.

Cool. I love French cannibal movies.

>French movie
>Cute girl
>Cannibalism
I can see da pusi being eated already.

As somebody who gets kicks out of gore flicks, I only hold out hope for this because it's french, I've seen a few genuinely ruthless french movies

>Toronto
>French

Try again.

The French are really bringing the heat lately.

I'm guessing Frontiers and Martyrs?

I MEAN THAT GUY SOUNDS LIKE A REAL JERK.

Frontiers was just a Texas Chainsaw Massacre rehash, I've forgotten it mostly
Martyrs is great, so is Inside. High Tension had some tense moments but one of the worst twist endings I've ever seen

Someone brought some fancy wine to the theater and dropped it
"Sacre bleu! Vat a vaste! Im going to faint huh"

You'd think the French would be used to gore and extreme violence by now.

youtube.com/watch?v=qCLtKPxYWYo

will this bring back the new wave french horror?

/deadgenre/ general?

>faux snuff
>Horror
Uhhh...

Fucking normies.
It's just meat like any other, and it's a fucking movie on top of that.

Nothing compares to watching Pet Cemetery in a movie theater. I'd love to experience that again for the first time.

They pull this shit every year

>he guys pretend to pass out/run out/vomit so everyone thinks our film is hardcore and we'll give you 10 Bison dollars

What was that horror movie where people left the theatre last year? It was spanish I think.

They already admitted it was a hoax.

>“An ambulance had to be called to the scene as the film became too much for a couple patrons,” Ryan Werner, who is handling the film’s marketing, said in a statement.

Means there were people in ther 70's, probably the parents of someone that worked on the film and the !Marketing!-guy saw his chance to promote the film even further.

Reality: Two old people were shocked.
Marketing: The whole audience literally had a heart attack and fell into a coma!

>film festival
Means jackshit, there's always borderline retarded things happening in film festivals.
Wasn't just a month ago that they were clapping for for 10 fucking minutes? It's the fedora convention of the film world.

so this is only 35 mins long?

i dunno guys. that dinner scene in Bone Tomahawk kinda made me queasy. anyone enjoyed that scene?

What's the most brutal violence you've ever seen in a movie, Sup Forums? I mean an actual movie, not faux snuff or real gore type shit

>feminist cannibal movie
>meme reports of audience vomiting/shitting their pants/dying

White Chicks.

Tooth scene from Oldboy. I just generally feel very queasy with teeth stuff. Just the thought of my tooth breaking in half

Wait, there was something actually worth watching at TIFF this year? I live in Toronto, are there still screenings of this movie? I love horror.

Who is this qt?

When will we see a trailer shot in night vision in a theater where some plebs get jumpscared?

i bet it's hilariously bad, like cannibal holocaust

it would either be from one of the saw movies where the guy's limbs get slowly twisted off or hostel

Remember when they killed and ate the black guy in Green Inferno?

what a silly thing to say

It was a French film shown in Toronto.

>we're on a board about TV and film
>people don't know what TIFF is
What the fuck? Seriously, look up acronyms when you don't know what they refer to you'll look less stupid.

is there any confirmation that this story is real?
I remember reading about a screening of some film at a film festival just a year ago or so and supposedly people were so scared that they were literally running for the exit.

>Raw tells the tale of a vegetarian veterinary student who "develops an insatiable lust for flesh as the result of a gruesome hazing ritual."

Don't forget Trouble Everyday and Irreversible.

French people see this shit on the street's it's "Cultural Enrichment"

French people see this shit in a movie it's offensive

it happened in Canada goofball.
Amerilards can't read for shit

What the fuck are you even talking about

You went from French to German there

is cannibalism the edgy hot item now, pls stop

t. butthurt cucknadian
Literally but literally nobody gives a shit about your country

Nothing can top newborn porn from "A Serbian Film".

This. My cousin showed me this movie and my dad decided to watch it too. Most uncomfortable movie experience of my life.

you should really try watching the Guinea Pig anthology and/or Autumn underground then

>I worked in the movie and the production crew is very sleazy. They didn't pay the promise contract to some workers. The producers also came up with the idea to get free viral promotion by setting up actors to pass out and create a scene during the screen. It seems like the idea worked Brilliantly as every news outlet and websites are covering the pass out story. Majority of the people would have never heard of this movie if it wasn't for that free promotion. Hopefully the stunts exposure brings in extra revenue so that the producers can pay promised contract.

Hmm?

this

...

Mermaid story is actually kind of romantic desu

Barely shows it but the small quick flash in dredd of the dudes getting skinned alive with that hacksaw makes my skin crawl just thinking about it

What this guy said

Martyrs for me, when she finds the girl in the basement or even when Lucie hallucinates in the bathroom, this was nightmarish and bloody.

this

Martyrs is a beast. Pretty much the whole fucking movie is a "jesus fuck" for me.

Cannibal Holocaust, rock scene

It's basically the same for me. You have to be either really unaware of human suffering or beyond desensitized (dead inside clearly) not to feel pain watching this movie.

Production companies have been using stunts like these for generations. They had fucking ambulances on standby during initial showings of The Exorcist. Why would you expect this to be genuine?

Honestly? The only time movie gore has ever made me feel uneasy was Hellraiser 2. I'm not even sure why, shit just got to me for once.

How's her foot game though?

could it be the scene where the guy cuts his own skin with a razor?

Perhaps.

>tfw I can't watch horror movies because I work alone at night in dark places and they're 2spooky4me

Why are you being such an asshole? Please apologize

Embarrassingly enough the shot that bothered me the most was when the old hag was showing the MC those pictures of those tortured girls who successfully got a look into the other place and all their eyes are pointing upwards

The end credits sequence too although that was more serious depression than fear

Holy shit, yes. It wasn't even that particularly gorey but something in that scene stayed with me

This got me hard and very ashamed after

I bet it's just going for the same thing as martyrs.

This ending was so great. And the part where she shows the martyrs is something harshly criticized as some bullshit philosophy but I found it very creative.

Americans couldn't help but do a remake lol what a failure of a movie

Thanks for Reminding me

Fucking Nick getting Scalped the spear in the throat and the splitting will stay with me for a while.

I never heard about an american remake of martyrs. what's it called??

It's got the same name, but it's a piece of shit. I would strongly recommend you not to see it, you would ruin the original doing this.

>going to a TIFF and expecting a JPG rated movie

just looked up the trailer and yeah it looks horrible. fuck I wish we'd cut it out with the remakes.

They butchered the piece Hollywoodian-style to be clear!

That didn't bother me as much as the remake where moto pancake was cutting pieces out if the guys neck.

What's JPG rating?

it's because in most shitty horror films you think "just leave the haunted house" or something along those lines

in this scene there was nothing the victims could do. and you know that in that situation you'd probably be hopeless too.

Obviously set up to create hype about some whack B movie

nah, it was the stabbing. the schlick shlick noises it made while he was pricking her. like cutting butter

At least expect a png or something

Has been for generations but we are now in the middle a modern revival as it were between the Green inferno, Bone Tomahawk, Chew(Thats still getting a film right?) and this it's back in a big way.

Added benefit is that it makes natives unhappy.

Fucking pussies. It's just a movie.

I nearly passed put watching Deadpool lmao maybe I shouldn't see this.

Is this bait? Or do you genuinely not know where TIFF takes place? If so why the fuck are you here?

Green Inferno was pretty fun to watch.
Not a good movie, but fun.
>THEY'VE GOT THE MUNCHIES AAAAHHHH

This film was already screened at Cannes. It was pretty well received.

I remember seeing Suicide Club at the Chicago International Film Frstival. It was a sold out showing and my friend arrived late and she had to sit on the other side of the theater. The train scene came up and immediately about 20 people, mostly old, walked out. We were able to sit together after that but she covered her eyes during scenes and asked me why the movies from her country are so fucked up.

her punani, you mean?

Ok, I'm starting to see a pattern now, so cannibalism is the new chique? Just how far does the (((nose))) want to lead us?

>they didn't even make it to the musical number
They missed out.

>Canadians

Even better

Fuck Toronto

Irreversible. The fire-extinguisher and the anal rape/torture scene equally.

Fake marketing to bullshit to try to generate hype for the movie.
