Rock is the same as EDM and hip hop, just degenerate party music for druggies to dance to and socialise.

It's shit

I don't buy that at all.

How can a duck watch you from anywhere in the world.... unless he installed spyware and accessed my webcam.

Fuck.

?

It surpassed Jazz at high speeds.

(not true by the way)

Those who still think rock didn't surpass jazz, let alone destroy it in terms of artistic value are seriously retarded and have no hope.

Sorry jazz, for ruining you

Yeah we saw your weak b8 the first time.

I don't think think rock music was ever intended to be as artistic as jazz. It was more about entertainment than artistry, but there were still plenty of rock musicians that made great art nonetheless.

Jazz is still the superior art form to anyone that has a modicum of taste.

This

Beatles > any Jazz musician

>the first time.

>the art of jazz
You mean the art coming up with a 10 second theme and then having a bunch of morons wank on some horns for 15 minutes?

There are actually people in the world who believe this, that's the depressing part.

Want to know how I can tell you're not a musician?

You can't.

>There are actually people in the world who believe this, that's the depressing part.

Plebs and normies love rock to sing along to and dance to at parties.

Jazz is for people who like art.

Rock is a far more interesting genre when you take into account all of its sub-genres. A lot of the best Jazz is Fusion and most Jazz purists won't even consider it "real jazz" because Jazz fags are as narrow minded as Punk fans.

>Jazz is for people who like art.

I've never seen a more reddit / pleb post in my entire life.

>best jazz is fusion
I literally spat my drink out

>art of jazz

Old jazz is shittily recorded cornball pop songs about new york city and breakfast foods. Then it progressed into the ultimate form of musical wanking and nothing but boopity bippity bopp bullshit. Every fucking Bebop album sounds the fucking same and has roughly the same recording quality.

Rock music went from Elvis and Chuck Berry to fucking Radiohead and every in-between. The art of the production quality of Rock music alone surpasses anything in Jazz.

Electronic fusion yeah

Herbie Hancock is GOAT

>a lot of the best jazz is fusion

So Bitches Brew isn't considered one of the greatest Jazz albums? Go back to your containment jazz general where the same 30 people post nothing but flowcharts because they're still trying to figure out how to listen to such a SHITTY fucking genre.

>Rock music went from Elvis and Chuck Berry to fucking Radiohead

rly maeks u thonk

Who needs the art of jazz when you have the art of parties?

>more subgenres = better

EDM confirmed superior to rock and jazz.

>Rock music went from Elvis and Chuck Berry to fucking Radiohead and every in-between

Damn

because it wanted something else

The difference is most of EDMs sub-genres sound the fucking same

Jazz is artistically more profound than rock imo but rock isn't bad either,I suppose rock overall never became as profound because rock musicians tend to know less about music theory in general I mean punk is an entire genre that was literally created because people got sick of prog,a genre that tried to push rock to be more artistic

typical ignorant af rocktard

>bitches brew
>not fusion
holy kek what type of jazz do you think it is.

>artistically more profound

By what metrics?

I didn't say it wasn't fusion. My whole point is that it's a Fusion album that's considered a classic.

At least I don't take a genre literally created to be background music seriously.

It wasn't, the complete opposite in fact

Holy shit you're stupid

My understanding of a genre of music nobody cares about does not reflect my intelligence. Your unwillingness to shut up about it does reflect yours.

>rock & roll started for teens to dance to
>electronic dance music started for teens to dance to

The literal only difference is the instruments

>Holy shit you're stupid

Confusing ignorance with stupidity is a good indicator of autism.

>nobody cares about
jfc

Yes, and Rock and Roll progressed a long way since the 50s. EDM on the other hand? Lol

More so, expanding with EAI, IDM, glitch and other fusions.

Rock strummed geetahs a bit faster, then slower, the faster again, WOW

>More so, expanding with EAI, IDM, glitch and other fusions.

Nobody care about those.

I got your art rock right here.

youtube.com/watch?v=Fuj3SfkG5IM

>guy who only listens to rock music argues with guy who only listens to EDM about which genre is truly the shittiest of all

Cancer

That's, like, just your opinion, man.

It's just blues scales

What is the "Smoke on the Water" riff of Jazz music?

ahem

So What
Rock music is not only very restrictive from the perspectives of timbre and arrangement, but has always had its foundation on the basis of being music that's meant to be simple/straightforward yet energetic. That's why even the supposedly more ambitious forms of rock music like progressive rock and post-rock are also relatively simple/straightforward compared to actually complex music. Rock music's closeness to blues music also means that like blues music it's not harmonically adventurous either. Even radio pop music tends to be more harmonically varied than rock music in that it's more willing to use more uncommon keys.

>Rock music went from Elvis and Chuck Berry to fucking Radiohead and every in-between

bahahahahaahahaahaha

Radiohead literally doesn't even sound much different from Pink Floyd from the fucking 70s.

meanwhile jazz went from bebop to third stream in less than two decades, with some albums/compositions rivaling classical after the 50s, and then continuing to evolve with fusion in the 70s and then more avant-garde musical styles later. that's a fuckton more evolution than rock did in 50 years.

>Jazz went from Scooby Doo sounding music to Sponge Bob sounding music

Astounding.

>jazz
>art

did you think that was funny or something

Only Slint belongs on that list.
Step up user.

>enjoying slint
how meta of you

>not liking unwound, fugazi, shellac and sonic youth
you wot?

>not enjoying slint

jazz is gay as fuck. yeah go on and tell me about your minor 9 flat 5 go fuck yourself chord. fuckin dummies

I do like them (Shellac and Sonic Youth at least), but only Slint has high artistic value.

huh?

lol.

Oh look, this autistic fuckhead again. This time using his own metrics for artistic value and not just joking around.

>he thinks he's above rock listeners because he listens to jazz
>but he doesn't listen to classical
>yet he thinks he has good taste
Explain yourself.

Some truth to this

I am above rock listeners because i listen to jazz and classical. Not only that Im above most jazz and classical listeners because of the jazz and classical i listen to

...

>I am above rock listeners because i listen to jazz and classical. Not only that Im above most jazz and classical listeners because of the jazz and classical i listen to
ooh you were so close. if this had read:
>Not only that Im above most jazz and classical listeners because I play both jazz and classical
then you would have been vindicated

>The art of the production quality of Rock music alone surpasses anything in Jazz.
Ahem

>but only Slint has high artistic value
how do you figure this?

>Wow its a Avant Math is a cunt episode
Imagine my shock

You could say the same about rock or jazz

Idk, but I think Giant Steps is definitely the Stairway to a Heaven of jazz

>he still hasn't realized Fugazi was the apex of Rock music

o i am laffin

>i started browsing Sup Forums 3 months ago
It's okay, we have all been there.

There is nothing cunty about it.

idk man

I do play both jazz and classical. Sup Forums is not a place to discuss our own music and music playing, it's to shitpost about other artists

>he needed Sup Forums to discover fugazi

You're no god

What instruments? And in what medium? Are you in your high school jazz band?

>Sup Forums is not a place to discuss our own music and music playing, it's to shitpost about other artists

this desu

This is true

You're not a cunt, you're just stupid. If you were smarter, then you'd be a cunt. I've been watching you for years. You're as naive as they come.

The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

Guitar, drums, piano.
Was in highschool jazz band, but is that even an accomplishment? Don't they accept any drooling retard in there? Lately i've just been playing with some buddies from uni, we play some standards and some of our own stuff. Really we just like making up stuff on the spot

this desu, I dont know why the fuck he feels the need to have a trip on an anonymous board.

He is literally a walking Sup Forumscore vending machine.

the nazis thought the same thing with jazz

and they were right

Of course. Just go back to r/The_Donald

The beatles are really overrated

the dregs of /summer/ are truly upon us huh? this is just a really bad thread. also this Avant-Math trip is a douche or just having a really tough time in life. also jazz is better.

>He brought up the nazis in an argument that was not about WWII

ITT: kids that think if they don't understand something, it must be high art.

Your unwillingness to at least look something up before making a claim that made you look like an idiot speaks to it though.

So? It's completely relevant

"The Lick"

>Only Slint has high artistic value
>How do you figure this?
>Idk man
Brilliant. I hope you've at least saged.

>guitar music
>art
