Stoicism had nothing to do with the original Christian outlook whatsoever, it's a purely pagan philosophy. Plus, both the original Christians and the Jews of the Old Testament were not simple moralists in a sense of the 19th century's European moral universe. Satan for them was not a "bad guy", it was another God's mask.
