After chaos in the Trucks and Xfinity Series, NASCAR’s best attempt to conduct a segmented race in a competent manner. Also, the return of Dale Jr. and the alleged last race for Mikey Waltrip.

Will mikey finish on the lead lap?

>tfw this is the last chance for Mikey to kill himself in this race

hell no

rolling for winner

Do you think Erik Jones could upgrade my dakimakura to an actual gf

Please respond

...

Post Yfw Mikey pulls off the impossible and wins

chase elliot will win

Mikey and Danica finish 1 and 2

If I was on his team I would be pissed. The guy isn't even focused on racing. He spends most speed weeks commentating and interviewing

Has Danica ever won a race?

Not a NASCAR race. She won an Indycar race by pure luck essentially.

>C-carl WILL be back

-Darrell Waltrip, 2017

the fuck is this stages shit
NASHURR gets shittier every year?

idk how he could win, Daytona in this current package makes it impossible for underdogs to sniff the lead, it's just going to a few top dogs swapping it unless there's a massive wreck up front

Here's a stream.

stream2watch.cc/streams/23481/52811

It should actually make for better racing so I'm OK with it.

nascar.nbcsports.com/2017/02/26/brian-france-warns-drivers-about-blocking-during-the-daytona-500-in-an-admittedly-unusual-address/

I'm honestly surprised France showed his face after how hard he got BTFO by the Wall Street Journal

i like how they explain the rules to us like we are little babies

Yeah they are trying to make it like three mini races, to keep the audience engaged. It's dumb as fuck though.

What's this Mickey Mouse bullshit with stages?

t. Brian (((((France)))))

>create rules package where you have to block to win
>get mad when drivers block

The drivers' council actually had most of the say in this format, no?

No fucking way will it make for better racing.

i miss jeff

Why not? It's not the same, but has a similar feel to heat races and the main event. Paired with the damage policy, it brings a lot more strategy into races.

I'm fine with that.

youtube.com/watch?v=4C2Wt-DQdAs

>heat races on 1.5/2.5 mile tracks
no

>le daytona day

fuck off.

If we need stupid rules now to keep things exciting why not encourage drivers to sabotage each other on the track? Not just with crashing but with IEDs, spikes, banana peels etc

stop shilling, mikey

fwiw I think this format is actually awful at plate tracks, but I often nap through the middle of cookie cutter races. Many are way too long. If they're not gonna shorten them, this is not a terrible alternative.

How fucking delusional are they to give Dale Jr 5/1 odds to win? He's fucking done, he'll finish at least 5 laps down.

americans listen to this kind of music?

>watching the prerace junk

I'm getting comfy with bowling until the race starts. I can get important updates from you guys.

>NASCAR Employee guy here

Expect the #10 to be fast out of the gate

the odds are high for a female to win a major race this year

it may not be this race but NASCAR wants the fake news media to make headlines for them and they figured the best way to do it is to give the #10 a pass during pre-race inspection

expect the #10 to be unfairly fast

Muh-Nards for the win!

Danica can't win

How big a percentage of people currently at the speedway do you think voted for Trump?

She's still a shit driver, and is still in close to top tier equipment. She'll also finish 5 laps down with Jr.

well, the entire state of florida (with exception of Miami and parts of Orlando) went bright red last fall

so, probably 80-90%

need stream pls

Why not just give her a bigger-holed restrictor plate?

Supid ones, yes.

>OIL EXPLORES SPACE
whut

In the old days the length made sense for endurance. The cars were rough to drive, hot as fuck, and it was a major stress test on your car ability to build cars.

Today they have air conditioned helmets, easier driving cars, and there's almost never an engine failure. Minus a few outlier races where things can be somewhat hard on a driver, the endurance factor is not there as much on the driver, and especially the car anymore.

Shortening races makes sense, but cuz of $ you know it's not gonna happen. So you get stages to improve long ass races.

If it's shit blame the drivers, they had a ton if input into this format. That's why they're all shilling it so hard.

NASCAR knows if he retires that means that half of their remaining fanbase will not watch

it will literally bankrupt NASCAR

thats what they did

Is it possible for anyone to finish five laps down in this format? Do the stages function as cautions?

you now remember when it was called the nascar nextel cup and the obnoxious walkie talkie commercials

Nobody falls 5 laps down unless they have some sort of issue.

It is, and always will be, the Winston Cup.

if you wreck you can't replace body panels (the new cars are carbon fiber panels) and you only have 5 minutes to "fix" the car

look at the truck race, the cars that finished looked like something out of a fucking junkyard, one team had the bumper held on with screws and ratchet straps

Here's one: ustream.tv/channel/USesfma6sgG

DEJA VU

I miss 2005.

are there any /thicc/ drivers this year?

thats actually when NASCAR started on the decline

the 2004 Daytona 500 had the highest ratings since 1979

Patrician is choice is Dale jr

I like the change, but think 5 mins is a little too short. It should help teams with the costs tho.

Is Chase Elliot /ourguy/

Mikey wins.

...

all the fat dudes are driving part time in arca now

it makes the sport look like redneck fixes,

pic related, the truck that finished 4th on friday, one that was involved in the first big wreck

>not going to leddit to get the yt stream

Top cucks

no,

Landon Cassil is

one cup championship despite missing half the season

top kek

>Brian France takes over
>adds chase
>ratings in freefall ever since

Really activates those almonds

I tried rebbit but couldn't find it

Help a brother out

making some new memes

here you go guys

basically the reason why the chase is bullshit

>Green flag at 2:30

Remember in 2009 when all the old fans bitched about how "DADGUM RACES STARTING TOO LATE I REMEMBER WHEN WE RACED AND THEN WE CAME HOME AND THERE WAS SUPPER ON THE TABLE" and NASCAR responded by making the races start earlier and at standardized times?

Those who don't learn from their history are doomed to repeat it.

Fucking this, good lad

I think if they make it back up to speed the 5 minutes reset, so they could always come back and start fixing it again

Greatest finish ever?

It is time

JAPANESE STEEL BLADES

Ford are /ourguys/

i don't, you will have damaged cars spewing out parts and shit causing more cautions and being a rolling chicane

pic related

>screws
>ratchet straps

if your car can't maintain the pace or speed, GET THE FUCK OFF THE TRACK

>race in an rfactor 2 league, using the stock car mod
>damaged cars go slower

if you can't maintain a 2 second pace with the field you are required to park it

what's the best daytona 500 you remember?

What was this about, I don't even remember

>no more picks by based OP
How long has it been, 5 years?

youtube.com/watch?v=MVoDLFjIwUU

My dad used to tell me that people who drive Fords are queers

He's in jail

Whom should I root for now that Edwards is gone? Fells empty mang.

Darlington battle between Craven and Kurt Busch

1998 when Dale won his first and only after 20-some years

I was 7 and a big Dale fan at the time

>You now realize AWS was a substitute driver and finished 2nd

Justin Fontaine was supposed to drive that truck before he got fucked up in the ARCA race
