Strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries are kept in the fridge. Melons which have been cut open are kept in the fridge.

Pretty much what said except I like melon cold so I put it in the fridge even if it's not open.
Also there are fruits like Avocados that you put in the fridge once they reach their desired ripeness.

Batteries have no reason to be cold.
Did you never feel how nice cool shoes are, especially on a hot summer day? And this also makes you keep them clean even if you are a lazier person like me because you don't want dirt or other things in the fridge.

Well obviously that goes in the fridge, it's dairy

In general, things that are stored at room temperature at (/in???) the store will be stored at room temperature at home. Vegetables are the only exception.

My roommates both put their unopened chocolate in the fridge, though. I think it's become incredibly common to do so here in Norway. It's gotten to the point where the confectionary companies have written articles in newspapers explaining that it's dumb. Chocolate will only be messed up by large swings in temperature and keeping it at room temperature is less likely to turn it white and weird-looking than putting it in the fridge.

I'm sure they put a lot of effort into choosing a suitable array of different length fatty acids to keep the chocolate a solid consistency at room temperature and making it melt quickly when it reaches mouth-temperature.
By cooling it down you're messing with that balance.

Maybe it reminds them of their childhood when they would get a frozen piece of chocolate after a few hours of cross-country skiing. And putting it in the fridge reminds them of those good times.
The reason doesn't really matter. It's dumb. And I try not to comment on it, but it's fucking stupid.

For the stuff that spoils, it can keep longer in the fridge, especially in hot places.
