I don't know if my doctor was exaggerating to scare me but it worked

I don't know if my doctor was exaggerating to scare me but it worked.

>be me
>drinking 2L of vodka every three days
>binge drink a lot of days, have been for about 3 years now
>after feeling like utter shit for a week straight, go to doctor
>blood tests showed enzymes about 12-14 times higher than normal
>get ultrasound
>tells me I have fatty liver, it's mildly enlarged and I have fibrosis
>start Googling shit like an idiot
>now I only take a few sips at night and that's it
>had this same bottle since the Aug 30 and it's barely past the neck
>she says I have to quit drinking or I'll be dead really soon
>ask what I can do
>she said there's nothing you can do
>then she tried to give me some anti-anxiety pill called efexor?
>look up the side-effects and withdrawals
>fuck no, not even one pill

So now I just drink a shit ton of water through out the day and take Milk Thistle every 8 hours. She said there's no signs of cirrhosis.

>Doctor
>She
Have you tried going to an actual doctor and what the fuck do you mean there's nothing you can do? Fibrosis can be reversed to an extent and fatty liver goes away if you stop binge drinking. Get a new doctor pronto.

Жeлaю тeбe cдoхнyть oт циppoзa, пьяницa.

>A russian calling someone a drunk.
How many handles of poor quality vodka you down today Vladimir?

This.

Had the same problems after 2 decades of drinking hard. Stopped cold for 5 years. Doc said I was good to go but ran high risks now so I learned moderation.

That's awesome dude Keep it up.

Well you are fucking retarded.

I don't drink at all, you know. My father does get very drunk, and it became such a thing that I don't want to ever end up like him.

Moderation can save your life but I'm baffled by OP's doc saying that you can't do anything about fatty liver or fibrosis. The liver can heal through fibrosis but it will leave some scarring behind if it's in late stage fibrosis.

I sincerely doubt someone who's been a heavy drinker for a few years has late stage 3 or 4 fibrosis. That makes no sense. OP is either lying about the amount of consumption or OP needs a new doctor ASAP to assess him.

Or her or w/e. Gotta be politically correct in 2017.

Liver damage is irreversible. efexor is no more damaging that the mass amount of alcohol you load your body with.

You won't be able to maintain this new moderation for more than a week or two.

>she
Hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahha

fuck that noise but totally agree

>Liver damage is irreversible
Actually it is reversible. Not to a 100% healthy liver but that's what doctors tell you so they can push pills on you. Try to talk to a doctor about a herbal remedy. Guess what? They hate it. They don't make money on it and neither does the pharmaceutical companies. Milk Thistle has been used in China for years and years with positive effects.

You need to make some positive lifestyle changes but it absolutely is reversible.

>Washingtonpost
Oh.. never mind. If those are your sources for alcoholism and the damage it causes, I understand why you'd say that.

Have a fatty liver too. Is milk thistle a drink or are you just taking pills? Sorry I've never heard of it until recently.

I got it in a capsule form because I hate pills. I just mix it into water and down a glass real quick. You take them every 8 hours and the taste isn't bad.

>get a new doctor
I'm going to a liver specialist next week to ask some questions and let them review the diagnosis/ultrasound results.

>efexor is no more damaging
I haven't taken a pill and it's not because I think it causes physical damage but the side effects are terrifying.

Not only that but you cannot stop once you start taking them. If you try to stop, the withdrawals are like going through heroin withdrawals and whatever you were taking them for comes right back if you ever try to quit.

Read the reviews from people who have used Effexor. That shit is scary and I have no idea why that's a thing.

The people with the harshest side effects drink alcohol with the effexor.

DO NOT TAKE THAT. Any psychiatrist will tell you not to take that trash. You will be life dependent on it if it even works for you.

Wrong, so so so wrong. Even after one pill some people get mini seizures, severe vomiting and if you have a sex life you can kiss that goodbye. It makes erections difficult, it kills sex drive and makes orgasms almost impossible. Also you cannot miss ONE SINGLE DAY or else you go through the worst feelings you've ever experienced. Your head will feel like it's being electrocuted all through out the day, your legs will feel extremely weak and you won't be able to keep food down. No one should be recommending that shit.

This tbh. The fucking zaps were annoying and made it hard to work. Docs love it so much because without insurance it is SUPER EXPENSIVE. Health insurance in America is so fucking bogus they're so addicted to keeping everyone on pills for their entire lives. You can save your life without the bullshit pills user.

>Liver damage is irreversible.
Liver is actually very good at regenerating.

It is, up to a certain extent. Fibrosis is when the liver starts to harden. The next step though is cirrhosis and that's when your liver is solid as a rock. The cells are dead and cannot be repaired or replaced. You're basically given a death sentence at that point because nothing can bring it back and that turns into liver failure.

If people make lifestyle changes and stop doing what got to them to that point, it can be saved. It will never go back to normal but a lot of damage can be repaired and cells can be restored. No fucking doctor should tell someone that their fibrosis is a death sentence and there's nothing they can do.

>drinking 2L of vodka every three days
And here I was think I was drinking a lot going through a 1L of whiskey every working week.

To be fair while OP isn't healthy and I don't think anyone should do that the people I met when I worked as a GP assistant were so much worse. People who were putting down 1-2L or even a gallon of hard shit every day. It usually takes a decade or two for severe liver damage to start taking form.

How has no one asked this yet? This is very important OP. Does your doctor wear a lot of religious symbols or give you any indication to believe she's a Christian?

wtf does being a christian have to do with telling someone with fibrosis that they'll die soon?

Fatty liver can also be hereditary. I haven't had a drink in over 5 years and have a fatty liver. Doctor said there's literally nothing I can do it's just inherited from my shit genes.

Yes, she does?

Doesn't run in the family.

I used to be far worse. I used to go to the bars every day in my early 20s and order pitchers to myself. A couple of pitchers, stumble to the next bar and keep going. That was my daily day to day life in my early 20s. By my mid 20s, I couldn't afford it anymore so I started buying liquor from the state store and drank at home.

Is it really that bad? I thought about taking one this morning to see if it had any effect what so ever but God damn.

Female doctor, where there's your problem retard.

Heres the attention you're seeking. Stop being such a fucking fag.

Kek this is what your liver prolly looks like. Enjoy OP

don't you have school in a few hours?
