Brad Paisley

Richie Sambora

Those guys were all great players and worked hard to get where they were. There's something to be said for seeing excellence in other styles beyond rock.

A lot of the best rock guitar players studied other styles in order to widen their game. I challenge anyone who is playing rock guitar to learn one of these two.

So underrated

another one.

and another one.

and another one

You see the slides/bends, that includes notes beyond the pentatonic you faggot, ergo it isn't made of 5(pent) notes anymore

slides and bends are just accents in the musical phrase, bending a note in a scale doesn't magically take that note out of the scale.
putting a pinch harmonic in a song doesn't change the scale.

learn fucking music theory nigger.

Nokie Edwards

tfw no Robby Krieger

>The blues scale is very closely related to the minor pentatonic scale, and is used unsurprisingly in blues. The blues players often ad an attitional passing note to the pentatonic scale which is technically known as a flattened 5th - that means an extra note in between notes 3 and 4 of the pentatonic scale. This note is called the blue note, and when you add it to the minor pentatonic scale you get the blues scale.

>when you try to say blues can be found in a pentatonic scale.

I didn't say that, I said that blues can be played in the pentatonic scale.

you are replying to a new user, and have been ever since I left a 4 comment reply.

now, those are 4 blues licks or riffs in the pentatonic scale, hope you're satisfied with how rekt you are.

No Jeff beck? Smh

>blues can be played in the pentatonic scale.
No you can't, once you add another pitch or note, it is not longer a 5 note scale. You wont change key, but it is no longer a pentatonic. You do make a blues scale out of a pentatonic, just like jazz. but when you say you can play blues in a pentatonic, you are absolutely incorrect.

Fuck Hendrix. David Gilmour owns!

retard, playing a song in a scale doesn't mean you play up the fucking scale, it means you play phrases with notes FROM the fucking scale, with accents like slides and harmonics.

you clearly know nothing about music, do yourself a favor and just walk away.

No one gonna say Frampton?

nigger can you even play those pentatonic blues riffs?

have you even heard of pentatonic blues?

have you even gone to guitar class?

>derp I'm going to defend the fact that pentatonic means 5 notes, and most blues scales are considered hexatonic
kek you self-taught neckbeards are the best

youtube.com/watch?v=4-XWDbMtR-U

here's some pentatonic blues lessons.

Give up

and you guys who skipped theory lessons are fucking dumb as shit.

Kurt Cobain
Eric Johnson

The word “pentatonic“comes from the Greek words “pente” meaning five and “tonic” meaning tone. Unlike other scales, which often have seven or more notes, the pentatonic scale consists of just five notes. It produces two types of tonalities — major and minor and is one of the most commonly used scales in blues, pop and rock. The pentatonic scale works really well over simple chord progressions, and because it’s one of the easiest scales to learn, it’s usually the first scale taught.

john frusciante

Brian May

Mah nigga Ringo Starr

that's why I find it hard to understand why you can't grasp this.

youtube.com/watch?v=4-XWDbMtR-U

watch the lesson, learn some shit.

Hank Marvin

Show me the point where he says "Even though I slide through and hit an extra note, it's still considered a pentatonic scale". I already said that people use pentatonics to create blues scales, but merely the fact that blues can't be pentatonic. It's like You are arguing that all rectangles are squares, when it's obviously not true.

Nice

Steve Gaines

yea you realise that a slide is meant to simply go up the neck from one note into another, not hanging on each note and playing them individually?

that's the part that you missed in theory class, that doesn't mean you are playing each note individually, it's like saying you can play every song ever written and then playing each individual note on the guitar and going "TA DAAA!"

teah me the ways of guitar, clearly i have so much to learn.

My guy. But his name is Brent

Kurt cobain
Robert johnson

I guess that's why he never signed my shirt then...

Lil Wayne

It's Diamond "Dimebag" Darrell of Pantera, kiddo.
