Technically no answer. People assume the the bundle of 3 bananas is equal to 3 because the bundle of 4 is equal to 4 and one taken away will make it 3. But technically there is no rule saying that that bundle of 4 has a value or 4 because it has 4 bananas in the picture. So that 3 bundle can be any value whoever made this wants it to be so you cant solve it because there is no way of knowing its true value. The pictures could have any values. They are just symbols where their appearance has no relation to the set value. Its like taking the number 8 and cutting it in half. Its going to make an o. You are correct in saying that there is no proof that the four banana image equals four just because it has four instead of three. I will argue that because the images are different, that there is significance to the differences. Those who are simple-minded or less observant will more likely interpret any bananas equals four.
