Yzerman playing 4D chess

Why the hell would anyone even trade a player over 36

>2nd round pick for a guy with 1 point

LEL

how do our fellow finns feel that >their jets didn't do anything?

Statistically no, because he never played a game for them.

Patrik Laine (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈlɑine]; born 19 April 1998 in Tampere, Finland) is a Finnish professional ice hockey winger who currently plays for the Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League (NHL). Laine formerly played in his native Finland with Tappara in the Finnish Liiga before he was taken with the second overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Jets.[1]

They're in "queue" to announce late trade.

Thankfully Ottawa traded for a guy who's only 35

Reminder that the Sharks are going to win the Stanley Cup and there is literally nothing you can do to stop it

#CBJ acquire LW Lauri Korpikoski from the @DallasStars in exchange for D Dillon Heatherington.

That's pretty weak

it doesn't matter for the cap.
his contract is over in 4 months.
this saved Tampa around 1000$.

highlight of his career is appearing in a music video with 1 mil views

If Shorks or Caps win the cup I will do a nofap for a whole month

window is literally only opened for 3 more months

>That stafford trade
Not bad

Hopefully he will be better than Beleskey and Hayes.

But for a 6th or 7th it's worth the risk.

Always liked him aswell

>Columbust

KEK what a horrible trade

Jesus that's a faggy name. He's never going to play in the NHL with a name like that.

Successful salary dump for lightning

5 million gone

joe said his avs were done with trades

Not me, but those 15 other teams will.

How so? You get a current lower end forward for a possible future lower-end dman.

>only one big seller
>doesn't sell
Thank you Joe Sakic

...

haha we trolled the flyers

>A 4th liner rental for a future top 4 defensive dman

whats the point of teams trading current nhl players for 4/5th round picks?
99% of players in those rounds will never even play in the nhl.

>Top4
>Defensive defenseman

a thing of the past

Picks for one of the weakest draft too

Must be Vegas

because they're usually at the end of their contracts and we don't want to resign

also the teams trading away players are on the downswing, so they've got no delusions of cup victories or even making the playoffs.

So they turn them into whatever they can, knowing full well that there is a chance that there's a hidden gem in the later rounds. These things have happened before (top 100 of all time center Datsyuk was picked 171st in the 6th round).

You're trading 20 games worth of player for a chance at gold. You'd be retarded to do nothing with it and let the player slip away for nothing.

Plus look at a guy like Ott. Ott loves the wings. Wings trade him for 20 games for a 6th round. If the wings love Ott back, he can be resigned next year becuase he's a UFA. Effectively giving us a free chance at something great and accepting that we're not making the playoffs, while simultaneously giving us a naturally better pick as the team worsens this season

>Picks for one of the weakest draft too

For the top 10 maybe, but could you honestly say that its any different for 4th/5th rounds?

am I a retard or is vrbata gonna leave the sparkledogs anyway? what's the point of not trading him?

>weak draft

I believe most writers mean the top 5-10 picks when they talk about shit like that. think of a distribution like that lambda=4 thing (too lazy to find a better picture), so less outliers to the high talent levels, but as you approach later picks, the talent level remains pretty much steady compared to other drafts. you can still get your 6th round steal or your late 1st rounder that turns out to be a great NHLer. it's just that tanking for a top draft pick doesn't pay out in years like this. lookign at the 25th-30th pick range I'd be really glad to pick up Erik Brannström for example if I were any team holding on to their 1st rounder

I'd like to try and spin this as a "surely he had other parts of his game that were good", but looking at the advanced stats meme, wew. He had 56-44 offzone vs defzone starts, yet his Corsi is still 39.8%

Maybe he was just played with the worst players imaginable in Ottawa?

>Tampa keeps 50% of streits contract
This guy's getting paychecks from half the league

Because at the draft you can trade picks for NHLers. See the Cam Talbot trade for example

There is like 40 decent players and even then, some of them would be 3rd round material in a normal draft

>Filppula to Flyers

Fuck yeahh

NHL is a youth game now. Old guys can't compete.

They traded Stafford for a 6th rnd pick...

>Yuro so soft, he's has two women's names for a first name traded to the Broadstreet Bullies

>godsby is only 29
>already considered old

If any Southern team was going to win, the Sharks are probably the team I'd want to win. Joe and Marleau deserve at least one so they can finally hang up the skates.

>trading players

That's too mainstream, I prefer signing players

>signing overagers

When has this ever worked?

>trading for draft picks
better off trading for 20/21 year old "busts" who never really had a chance to play on their team

Didn't even realize he was still in the NHL. Good job by Dallas in turning that into a longshot D prospect.

Nope.

>jykkets not even included
good post

>2020 starts android Jagr era and you will witness it

I don't buy that. there will be another 4 years until we can judge this because most late round picks take longer to develop anyway, but I don't think we'll see a significant difference in player quality in a few years
