Are smartphones meant to last only 2 years?

Are smartphones meant to last only 2 years?
It seems that this is a part of their marketing strategy.
I've been using my galaxy s6 somewhat heavily for the past 2 years.
I took good care of it and it looks slightly used on the outside.
The thing is, it has many annoying problems now.
The battery life is absolute garbage, obviously.
Fast charging pretty much doesn't work anymore.
Sometimes I have other charging problems.
It just took a screenshot by itself, randomly.
It also has some random-ass issues that happen every once in a while.

For how long is it realistically possible to milk your smartphone before upgrading?
I don't wanna buy a new phone right now, there are better things to spend money on.

Quit watching gay porn on it, and it will last longer

Buy an apple faggot

Quit being a nigger

Watching gay porn is the best on an OLED display.

Buy an unlocked phone it's half the price for similar specs

I broke mine by fucking your mom

Take it to a repair shop and have them put a new battery in it. Problem solved.

replace the ac/DC cord

I kept my Sidekick 4G limping along for 7 years until the hardware keyboard just got too fucked to deal with.
Also, for better battery life, charge before it gets below 20% and don't watch gay porn on it.

This nigger gets it.

Or just listen to acdc

This.

Next phone I buy I'm getting from GearBest.com.

Um actually I identify as white and my preferred slur is cracker

I don't think you know what the term unlocked means, newfriend. It means unlocked from a carrier. You can buy any phone unlocked.

You're just talking about a 'budget' phone. Like the One Plus, or Motorola phones. They have *decent specs for half the price.

I still have a working S3 I just flash a new rom and bam no/less lag

I know this is Sup Forums, but I didn't expect this many cancerous replies.

My deepest apologies, cracker.

Doesn't that also mean it's not so loaded down with carrier shovelware?
Also, it's never a good deal to buy a phone on contract financing.

I'm offended that you think my post is cancerous.

Maybe not that one, but the whole discussion.

The batteries are designed for 1 year of life. The phone isnt designed to fail but its not made to withstand all the changes that are made carrier side. Thats why they push an upgrade every two years, to keep you on the current carrier programming. I have a drawer of phones that stopped working on the network around 5-6 years. I currently use a phone way past its life cycle because new phones dont have basic features I want.

Lithium ion batteries do not have long life spans in terms of batteries and should be replaced every year or so if used frequently. Aside from that, no, smart phones are not meant to "fail" anymore so than any other piece of technology.

Replacing the s6 battery is hard and risky. It can fuck up the phone if you do it wrong.
I'm kinda worried that those people I pay to change it may fuck it up too.

I'm offended that you're offended
(giganticfaggot)

I'm not really following the current smartphone market.
Are there any good "flagship" smartphones now that have a replacable battery?

>to keep you on the current carrier programming
The only change that requires a hardware update is the carrier upgrading their protocols incompatibly. LTE is supposed to make that less disruptive, no idea whether it actually will.
>The batteries are designed for 1 year of life
Actually, about 500 charge cycles. Don't use up your whole battery in a day and it'll last longer.
t.oneplus 5 user who gets a week out of a charge

Not really risky if you have the right tools. Mr. Fixit probably has the right tools. And you were going to buy a new phone anyway, right?

What, you don't have a heating plate and an opening kit in your toolbox just because?
smuganimegirl151641.jpg

get a new fucking battery retard. problem solved.

My note 3 lasted me until last year.
Now my S7 edge will last me another 4 years or so.

Pro tip.... Sim only contract. Use the money your saving by not being on a 24month phone included contact, to buy what ever phone you want next time you want to change and stay sim only. Plus you only normally have it on 12 month contract or a rolling 1 month contract.

That's the easy part, m8.

just buy last years model on ebay, much better than getting sink holed into a contract for the newest phone.

all of ops problems that were described are battery related. if not enough skill to take the back off the phone, backup and wipe the phone, sell it for some shillings on ebay.

Most, but not all.
Some random shit happens every now and again.
Also, the home button feels different than before, it moves a bit.
