Help My Normie Ass

Don't really use this website much. Most of the people that I meet irl that use this come off as pretentious music snobs but maybe y'all aren't all like that. I'm look for some recommendations when it comes to psychedelic rock and neo-psychedelia. Any albums or bands you guys like?

Kingston Wall is an awesome band. Especially their first and second albums.
MGMT Congratulations album
Flying Saucer Attack (noise rock but pretty psychedelic at times)

The people on this site will be far worse than anyone you meet, leave now, don't waste your life

Just go back to Plebbit and listen to fucking Salad Days recommendations on Youtube.

Pink Floyd
The Beatles Sgt peppers
Nektar - Tab in The Ocean

Get into older Psych, forget about that Neo shit, don't ever get into memepsych like ing Gizzard or The Oh Sees

Hawkwind - Space Ritual
Red Krayola
Guru Guru - UFO
Ash ra Tempel
Le Rallizes Denudes
Silver Apples
Brainticket
Mad River

After Bathing at Baxters

I bet you've had sex and everything, get off my board

>psychedelic rock
Later King Gizzard. Their earlier stuff is more garage rock. Also, Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall, but it both of them also vary from psych rock and garage rock. Try Manipulator and Drop or The Mutilator Defeated At Last

United States of America - United States of America

MGMT Congratulations is the most underrated major label psychedelic rock album in the last decade

Thee Oh Sees are making the best psych rock of this century by far.

lmao

Well then, who is?

Morgan Delt - Morgan Delt

Flaming Lips - Clouds Taste Metallic

Panda Bear - Person Pitch

Animal Collective - Merryweather Post Pavilion

Radiohead - Kid A

>Radiohead - Kid A
>psychedelic

Unfortunate that they had been claimed by the normies at the time they released the album. Neither the plebs or the patricians game it a fair shake. Hindsight shows it is truly 8/10

Go back

Psychic Paramount, Bardo Pond, Acid Mothers are much better than that trash

Start with the 60s and branch off from there.

'60s Psychedelic Rock Essentials:
The Beatles - Revolver
The Doors - The Doors
Love - Forever Changes
Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced
Silver Apples - Silver Apples
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Grateful Dead - Grateful Dead
The Beach Boys - Smile Sessions
The Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground & Nico
The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
Procol Harum - Procol Harum
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold as Love

and all the rest of these artists' releases from the 60s. also check out the kinks, the golden dawn, the byrds of course, captain beefhart & the magic band... you'll get the picture with tools like rym.

Use these albums to find connections between the genre and the times. This will allow you to discover more psych rock artists, and eventually neo-psych as well.

if you don't already, try using last.fm to scrobble and discover new artists and works. I highly recommend also trying rateyourmusic.com (this is a quintessential music discovery tool).

(you)

I've never liked "revivalist" music, I think it's phoned-in bullshit for the most part. For whatever reason though, this band sounded magical as fuck. Of course they would break up.

Thank you for such a detailed post. I'll definitely give all those albums a shot. I don't know much about older psych rock so this is a big help.

Sad that I've only listened to one album on that list but that Flaming Lips record is one of my favorites. Thanks for the help!

Replace the grateful dead with anthem of the sun and you're good

oh my god hahaha alright mate

...

There you go. Try traversing the Sup Forums wiki, they have all sorts of essentials charts like this one. Have a nice day user!

Cream - fresh cream, disraeli gears, wheels of fire, and goodbye. Also their bbc sessions are amazing and anything live from them. Can't believe user didn't have them in for the oldies though.

Yeah, I left out a lot but that was to leave some room for righteous discovery on OP's side. That's always a whole lot of fun.

No problem. if you give rym a swirl you can find a whole plethora of psychedelic pop, rock, folk gems. esp. in the late 60s

Good luck!
