They did it. This is going to be considered a classic

They did it. This is going to be considered a classic

I think they've changed too much for it to stay true to the source material.

>They did it
they did it this time last year
but all that clown shit started happening irl and the studio got cold feet

clown shit?

It's so fucking scary. I couldn't believe how scared I was. I haven't been genuinely horrified from a movie since before I can remember.

You need to either watch a better class of movie or unfuck yourself enough to have some fucking empathy

Fuck the source material. Just let the movie be the movie and the book be the book

And this movie was fucking good. All future horror films have been put on notice

You couldn't name a horror movie I haven't seen. I have empathy, dramas make me extremely emotional all the time. Horror has sucked at being scary for a long time. Good recently at being spooky but not scary.

Cant wait for part 2 next year.

I can't decide if I want to wait and check it out later at the comfort of my home or if I want to go to a movie theater to see it – and die of a heart attack. The trailer alone gives me goosebumps, and I cannot recall the last movie trailer that has done that.

More like shIT, amirite?

go to the theater, man. The sound system will be a great benefit to the scares.

Lol. No.

BEEP BEEP RICHIE.
Truly, this movie was made for the general audience.

It looks bad though.

so it was good?

so is OP bullshitting or is it worth watching

fucking amazing. Go see it.

was planning on it. thanks.

I did like that pennywise said BEEP BEEP Richie.

I was sad that Bev didn't let the boys fuck her and that Henry didn't light his farts on fire.

the deadlights were so fucking scary. The fake out with georgie in the beginning had my dick ass shook

>You couldn't name a horror movie I haven't seen
riiiiiiiiiight, way to lose all credibility.

Pennywise being chauffeured between deeds by Tyrell Wellick.

>really excited to see the movie
>fan of the original movie as a kid
>read the book a few months before they announced the movie
>go watch it in a black theater
>blacks yelling at the kids not to go into the house
>backs on the cell phones the who time
>one black yells "not worth it" at the end of the movie.

...

To be clear; a horror movie should HORRIFY, not terrify.

>Salo
>A Serbian Movie
>Johnny Get Your Gun

These are HORROR movies.

It is a terror movie. Most of King's works are.

...

Just got out of it, so fucking worth it! Majorly refreshing.

people dressing as clowns at night
and standing under streetlights
or at the turn of a road
or just inside a wooded area

I was not genuinely scared once. The new Pennywise has Down syndrome ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You're not wrong but that's a bullshit thing to say because you know language isn't always literal.

No bullshit. It's an amazing movie. Rotten Tomatoes even has it at like 80%

It's visually dark and malicious and rich. It's very discomforting and at times disgusting. It captures all the fear of adolescents and the rose-tint of any good coming of age tale except this one is darkened with the brooding, horrifying story of a clown shaped demon.

Definitely would recommend. It's horror done well. Of course, no horror movie could avoid at least a couple of basic jump scares. But IT will find some unexpected ways to make you squirm or scream and they don't all even have something to do with the clown

i cant be scared by the new pennywise, he looks so fucking doofy its retarded

i think its the 2 buck teeth that do it for me, he just looks so fucking "hurka dur" retarded with those

>The sound system will be a great benefit to the scares.
so instead of actual suspense and creating an atmosphere that the audience is terrified
they are just gonna fill a shitty remake with buzzer scares and hope no one notices the shitty writing, acting, and camerawork

The teeth were very rat-like to me. It worked. I mean, you know he isn't human.

No

one can't know if something is a classic until many years have passed.

I really liked it, that being said I was really bored for a lot of the film. Well written, interesting adaptation. Nothing really felt scary though.

I don't think the movie was supposed to make you actually scared. Rather it was about the story with horror elements. I for one am glad to see a horror movie without jump scares every 5 minutes. Those are startling not scary.

This movie had some good story telling elements, good actors, funny lines. Sadly they tried to fit too much in one movie.

Your comment is retarded and you are too, probably. Please refrain from posting in the future, for the sake of maintaining discussion quality.

I'd tell you to stop being autistic but I know you can't help it.

Oh fuck off. The dialog is actually pretty thoughtful and realistic and the acting is really fucking good. These young actors, if they can put as much raw emotion into their future performers, could all have succesfull careers

Unlike most horror movies, this one has some thought behind it. It felt like they really respected IT

I like that he is almost always drooling.

hmm
maybe I should see it
I love horror
but have gotten so tired of jump scares and slashers that I've given up on watching "horror" flicks

Sounds like a publicity stunt for the film

It's scary as shit, dude. I don't even know what to compare it to because I haven't been actually scared from a horror movie in so long.

Too many poeple use imprecise language. Causes tremendous amounts of confusion. Words have MEANINGS, use the right ones.

I agree jump scares are shit tier fear. And I agree that the story, characters, effects, and even the little jokes were awesome. Everything was +A to me except Pennywise. I'm missing that underlying dread when I see him. I liked all the cool computer effects they did. But the overall feel of the charecter wasn't there for me.

Yeah but also The Shining happened. And A Clockwork Orange. And pretty much anything Kubrick touched.

Point is he showed us that you can still make it your own thing and it will be fantastic if its done right

That's just autism. Language evolves, evolve with it, you child.

I also really liked the acting and dialog. I honestly enjoyed Eddy and Richie's back and forth more than anything else in the movie. Movie would have been better if there was no clown and they went on a journey to see a dead body.

lmao retard

many people thought it was as primary filming had just ended
but then the studio pushed back the release date indefinitely because they felt that if any of these clown sightings turned violent they would be blamed

A Haunting in Conneticut?

A few jump scares, but mostly mounting tension and subtle terror of the unknown and possibly real.

I saw Annabelle a few weeks ago and that movie is the exact opposite of IT. Nothing but jump scares with no plot or character progression. I felt bad for the loser club I didn't feel anything for the orphan girls.

Except that movie sucked and was boring and derivative. Which, obviously this is an adaptation and also owes a lot to James Wan but it still manages to blend Stand By Me and The Shining in a way nothing else has. So maybe that's the comparison I'd make lol.

The Shining was shit. Clockwork Orange was good (if a departure from the source). Kubrik only gets it right about half the time. It's possible to depart from the source material and still remain true to the story, I just think that there's SO MUCH of the essential story that will have to be left out that it'll wind up being a visualy stunning hack job.

>The Shining was shit
Just stop it, man.

all stories are derivative. There's only about 30 or so stories. What makes the derivatave ones good is the details of how they differ from the originals.

Just went and watched the movie. Certainly stepping up the bar for horror films.

They missed out one of the most disturbing parts of the book and it has nothing to do with pennywise.

I'm talking about Patrick and his baby bro

GUYS GUYS, here is a real contrarian, listen to him!
He is special!

That's true a lot of the time but I also think the righteousness of the trope is something to be considered.

I'm more interested in Anti Matter

where 2 watch movie for free?

not wasting my money

just start googling child porn and it will show up

OK, THAT was a horrifying scene. Fuck. I'd forgotton that one. Shit.

See, , THIS is a horror scequence.

Honestly I was afraid of jumpscares being a thing in the movie, and there kind of was in a way, but not in the way you expect a jump scare. This movie was great I give it an A+. This is not a jump scary, slasher movie. This is general fear.

Patrick is fucked up and has the most horrifying death.

You're a fool. The themes, ideas, characters and overall structure remained intact. The changed did something incredibly rare for an adaptation...they improved on the source material.

Correct

Every time Pennywise was on screen I laughed, this fucking movie is a joke. It relies heavily on the score to make people "scared" and the overabundance of CGI just made it look goofy. It was like they wanted to do body horror but gave up when that would mean hiring practical effect artists. This movie is the funniest shit I've seen in a long time.

These are trash films catering to gore, neck yourself faggot

Are you a contrarian?

This is what I thought too. It may have not been that scary but the whole movie was ridiculously well-put together compared to any recent horror movie I've seen in a while. The acting, the way that it looked and the way that it flowed was pretty great.

This

>gore
The first two had very little gore and the third had none. You obviously haven't actually watched any of them.

don't forget that Serbian's gore was to put the true point of the movie in context

Which was?

oh shut the fuck up you twat

I loved pennywise. His mannerisms were erratic and impatient. The drooling and his inability to maintain convincing human speech really drove home the fact that he truly is not from this world and that he's hungry.

Man he fucked Georgie up

the main character had sacrificed his dignity to earn money
but he had given up that life and started a family
but then he was forced to sacrifice his dignity to provide for that family
but the new sacrifice was too much for him to live with
it is a metaphor for serbian nationalism after the dissolution of yugoslovia and subsequent wars to protect serbian "dignity"

ITT Hollywood desperate to get people into cinemas

How were the dead lights handled? I'm going to see it on Friday but I feel like this is an interesting effect to reimagine

No, the trailer looks like they've made a Netflix version from a classic.

Yeah, that's there job faggot. Have you seen it?

Isn't the original movie suppose to be the classic? Why would the remake also be a classic when it just came out? Even many years later it simply cannot when it is a remake from a movie that is also originally from a book.

Same, shit scared me but I laughed at way too many scenes because of how they were executed
>Georgies arm getting ripped
>Stan's Jewish ghost lady
>Eddie's Leper man

>that's there job
>there job

Dead lights kinda happen in 1 scene but that's it

excited to see it this weekend.

also came to post that i just woke up because i pissed the bed from having a nightmare about the movie "the others". haven't pissed myself since elementary school, hope i don't piss myself at the movie theatre.

your to critical
its find

TBF, after watch Stranger Things and the new Marvel shows, I've bcome a big fan of Netflix's original productions.

>you couldn't name a horror movie i haven't seen

L O L
O
L

Yeah I got about as far as
>The Shining was shit
Stephen King is a hack. Kubrick did him a favor.

Did you even read A Clockwork Orange you fucking mongoloid? The movie was one of the closest book to film adaptations I have ever come across. And to say it's only good is like saying It was a masterpiece. You're full of shit, You think like shit, and your opinions are, indefinitely, shit. #Kubrick4Life

Aside from the fact that they cut out the entire ending of the source material which completely changed the story

Did they wind up doing the scene where Bev fucks like everybody? Or did they pussy out?

No, this movie isn't scary.
>ez money jumpscare movies count as horror movies
They don't.
The fucking Leper EDM kept me smiling the whole time.
