America was not worth serving...

America was not worth serving. Then people wonder why 22 a day is a statistic when America constantly fails it's veterans. Don't join the military, don't throw your life away like I did mine.

Should have joined the Air Force. You'd still hate your life but you would've had an awesome DFAC.

Why are you not in this thread?

Doesn't change the fact that Veterans Affairs will try to kill you, deny benefits, burn records, falsify claims, wrongly amputate limbs, and generally fuck up veteran health care. Life after the service is being constantly ignored by a system that purposefully tried to break you physically then denies care when they break your body.

Sounds like someone didn't get out under honorable.

No service is worth joining. America does not take care of it's obligation to it's veterans. Then there's the fucking civilians that think our job is Call of Duty or the fucking Hurt Locker or some other fabricated bullshit created by Hollywood types that have never experienced service. It's all a fucking joke.

Not all civillians are bad, Sir.

I'm a civillian and I go out of my way to be nice to anyone involved in the military, active or not.

Some of us are grateful that you do what we can't.

That's rich, saying that the military has honor. Still have honorable conditions on my DD214 until the VSO can unfuck the fuck up that the Navy pulled. My commanding officer made the fucking Navy Times because he was fired for malingering and dereliction of duty. My DD214 is in error but stupid fucks like you don't consider the situation, you only try to say it's not honorable so you dismiss it. No wonder so many veterans commit suicide. Who wants to live in a broken system that's no better than jail?

All the civilians I can think of offhand have no idea what military service requires. "Thank you for your service" is dismissive because it allows people that wouldn't volunteer themselves or their family but instead rely on a volunteer military to fight it's battles for it. Every civilian is entitled whether they chose to believe it or not because someone has stood a watch for them somewhere.

Well, I genuinely mean it when I say thanks.

I wanted to enlist. Stand by your side. Have your back in every situation. But my spine has looked like this since birth, so that's not an option.

Best I can do for you guys is pay for the occasional meal, drink, or coffee.

Did you not read catch 22?

Dishonorable discharge and a crybaby who makes excuses instead of opening up too then. You were probably a shit soldier and you should go back on one last tour and not return

Since you want to bring up the subject, let's talk about how some soldiers get a free ride while the rest of us have to do this thing called work.

Let's also talk about how the work you do in the military will be claimed by your superiors while they don't even give your eval a passing glance.

OH, how about we talk about how when that free ride skater fucks up and blames his fuck up on others via misdirection, the command goes with it, and that GI gets fired because of some bullshit that Carl fucking said to SSGT?

Let's talk about how I witnessed people's careers ended over false sexual harassment claims because the command was so toxic that 3 females wanted out of service badly enough to lie?

People like you make the world suck a little bit less. Doesn't change the fact that there is bullshit, but it does help.

I'm still suicidal since the military. Been almost a decade too.

Its probably permanent

Whoa, that was HUGE assumption on your part. I do not have a BCD you dolt.

No.

It is.

11B here. 2 trips to Iraq, and then stuck in fucking recruiting right as my unit got their first Afghanistan deployment. Recruiting's stress pushed me over the edge, ended up spending 2 months in in-patient care. The army decided that was a NOGO, medically retired me.

That was in 2012. I'm still struggling. Honestly, the only that that keeps me alive right now is my 4 year old son.

I know my suicidal ideation is. The VA always asks me how often do you think of suicide and I have to always tell them it never goes away. They don't get it.

I have nothing. I don't know why I'm still here. I merely exist.

What's 22 a day the number of dicks you suck

>It does help
That's all i want to do, man. Help.

Civillian bro here. Me too. Been suicidal since I was 12. On suicide watch again after losing my job. It's definitely permanent.

Sorry to hear man. If you need a friendly ear, i'm here.

Same with my partner. He is surprised i'm suicidal, and thinks that my brain will magically repair a nervous breakdown overnight.

You exist because you do, man. And i'm glad you do.

To both of you.

Yep. I get it.

To the one who says "They don't get it," I dig what you're saying because that's my experience. It is further compounded by the fact that since I was medically retired 5 years ago, I've had 12 changes in psych docs. Only one change was initiated by me, when the fuck sticks decided to give me a hijab wearing bitch.

To the one who has nothing, You still have something. There are vets near you. Shit, nigger, there are even vietnam vets who are in your exact position. Existing for the sake of existing is still existence.

I did 27 days of the hardest torture a SGM can invent, for a 14 day article.

No one can save you from your chain of command. IG wont do shit for you.

Why the heck would anyone join the military?

I joined because there were 2 wars going on, I was 25 and working a dead end job. Both of my parents had volunteered during vietnam, and I couldn't let them have all the fun.

Joining the US military just makes you a mercenary for Israel.

A plethora of reasons... The life isn't easy but there's good reasons to do it

Yeah, I tried getting them to investigate my claim but the temporary command I was assigned to wouldn't let me go to the JAG office. They told us that we had to leave with an escort and that they didn't have anyone to provide escorts.

The military is run by narcissists that know they can get away with torturing others because the system is broken bureaucracy.

My father was a gunners mate in Vietnam, got shot and awarded purple heart. My grandfather was a Marine during the Korean War.

I joined because it was better than my shitty job and I'd fucked around until 29 doing nothing. Now I'm saving a shitload of money every month and learning skills as well as making connections

Why? O.P

What do you think of the veterans who spect everyone to thank them when they greet them?

Currently using my GI Bill for school and getting paid for it. Im glad I was in the military.

At this point I'm more inclined to agree with you than try to counter that point. Zionism... I wouldn't have signed up had I known the military kills for God.

Those people weren't combat veterans. Combat veterans don't want to be thanked for their service, it's a cope out.

Exactly how gay are you?

Congratulations at finding an MOS where you sit on your ass watching the rest of us work.
