Test 1 recap >Mercedes sandbags as usual >Redbull sandbags a lot >Ferrari might not sangbag enough or it's utterly shit >$troll made clear who is the real amd >McHonda being McHonda >Renault, Toro Rosso and Force India are somewhere >Haas and Sauber might be solve >We got Bingo on day 3
I have been reading stuff here and it kind of surprises me. Yeah I know they have been shit past few years but this year is kind of different.
Last year they improved greatly YoY from 2015 to 2016.After summer break ALO finished P7 4 or 5 times plus a P5 in USA. Jenson Had a P8 or something and all this was with a handicapped Honda PU limited by token system.
This year there is no token system. Honda can bring a different version of PU for every single race if they need to improve on something .
Their car is improving. They were clear 4th fastest on a few tracks last year after summer break despite being 80-100bhp down. Hungary,Singapore,S2/S3 of Spa and maybe Germany comes to mind.
They have huge resources(Bahraini owners and so on) and with Honda pouring in $$$ too.
Good drivers.
Not saying that they gonna be in top 3 but writing them off so early by saying they gonna go backwards seems like jumping on to conclusions too early to me.

You could make an argument for 1966, when the engines doubled in size from 1.5L to 3L. The Jim Clark-Lotus combination should have been the strongest on the grid, but Climax's (Lotus' engine supplier for some years) 3L engine failed to materialize, so they had to look elsewhere.
They went to BRM, who also had a relatively recent championship under their belt, but in an effort to place peak power over everything else, BRM made an engine that was overcomplicated, hard to drive, had the center of gravity too high, and was unreliable, effectively taking both teams out of the title hunt.
Ferrari might have been in with a shout, but John Surtees, far and away their best driver, quit the team after being pulled from the Le Mans entry at the last minute. Honda, meanwhile, was still struggling to build a good chassis. Cooper, another team that had Climax engines in the past, switched to Maserati for 1966, but Cooper was already on a downward trajectory by this point.
There were a couple new teams, Dan Gurney's All American Racers and Bruce McLaren's team, but they were still establishing themselves at this point.
Thus, the title ended up being won by Jack Brabham in a car of the same name, which used a modified Oldsmobile Jetfire V8 as its engine. While not taking full advantage of the regulations, the engine was good enough and very reliable. Denny Hulme would actually win the championship with this car in 1967, as Lotus got the new Cosworth DFV engine which made them devastatingly quick but would need some more time to find its reliability.

Hard to say because of how much carbaby plays a factor. As much as I hate Lew Lew it's probably him or Alonso.
Jose Price
Of the last 30 years I would say:
Senna > Alonso > Hamilton > Amx > Prost > Schumacher
Justin Martinez
>there are seriously people in /f1/ right now who believe carbabbyism is a new phenomenon

any conclusion is too early leafy but when you end 2016 like they did and start 2017 like they did its not looking good because every step forward they make other teams will do the same or more. always two steps behind.
I really hope they do well, I want every team to do well but its not looking very positive is it?

Alonso knows that due to an entire decade of failure he's going to be remembered as the Mansell of this era, while Hamilton and Vettel will be remembered as the Prost and Senna.
Alonso also knows that the only way he can escape this timeline, and be a """""legend""""", is to do a Senna and kill himself, so people will claim he was much better than he actually was.
Don't be surprised if you see him taking dangerous risks, and getting involved in huge crashes this year, it's all part of his plan.

If Ferrari can stop being fucking mongos and give Vettel a car close to mercs it would only take one great season fight between them and they'll likely both go down as the greatest of all time.
Both of them are way up there in wins, titles and shit people just have the fallback of carbabby and muh unexciting championships despite hamilton being involved in two of the greatest final race deciders of the last 30 years
