Amorphis, Amon Amarth, Skeletonwitch, Brendan Small, Eleuviete, Soilwork, Lamb of God, Mastadon are all in my wheelhouse. I'm 36 and love older stuff too but you will enjoy one of these. Start with Circle or Skyforger from Amorphis. They both are excellent from.start to end.

I wasn't a big fan of thrash (in fact, I actively kinda disliked it) until I found them, and I'm in love. Listen to their second album, Nightmare Logic. Also, if you were ever into Sabbath, check out Sleep and Electric Wizard.
