ok so i remember watching the anime years ago and it ended with the demon raping the princess. i have since not caught up. will anybody put me in the loop with the series?

If you're referring to the original anime, you can forget about it. It pales in comparison to the manga.

No princesses were raped, but yeah the Anime ends at the eclipse.
