How do we improve this "sport" Sup Forums?

we don't, it's perfect. at least it was until this cuck commissioner who wishes he was running the NBA.

pitch clocks
no more than nine batters per inning to help speed up the game
instead of extra innings all ties end in a mini hr derby
universal DH and no more than 1 pitching change per inning

It's contradictory to want more offense and shorter games

how do we improve this "post" Sup Forums?

some changes add more offense while the others help offset the increased length this will result in

Does baseball need more black

Baseball isn't really a sport in the modern sense. It's more of a game.

why, because it's non contact? then basketball isn't a sport either. if you think it's not athletic, then you've never played it. just because reflexes are more important than raw power doesn't make it any less of a sport.

If you think basketball isn't a contact sport you haven't played it

Salary cap. Isn't it obvious?

...

you get penalized for contact in basketball. pushing against each other's shoulders isn't contact in the sense that i mean.

statewide decree that fenway and Nu-yankee stadium have to alter their ballpark dimensions so theyre not viable for fucking middle schoolers hitting HR's

No fouls in pick up you lil bitch

Nine players per team. Pitch one innings each.

>muh specialisation
>muh DH
>muh relief pitcher

what do you know about pick up b-ball you shrimp dicked little twerp? your 150 pound pothead buddies aren't as strong as grown men. that's not what i'm talking about anyway.

the rules of the game are fine as is. The main issue is the infrastructure of baseball in the US. compared to other sports, its not as accessible and not retaining enough new support. Baseball is the sports equivalent of Japan's birthrate. Little League and high school baseball participation has dropped dramatically while cheaper sports like Soccer and Basketball are growing at an exponentially faster rate among Gen Z.

In this day and age, easy access is everything. for a sport as complex and cerebral as baseball, it must be better accessible to casuals. that doesn't mean drastically changing the rules of the game though:

>Shorten the MLB season by 10-20 games, so the world series won't bleed into frigid November
>Reduce or completely eliminate inter league play
>Eliminate all blackouts
>broadcast games on standard channels like NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX more frequently.
>Expand/reduce cost of the MLB streaming service
>Allow unrestricted gif/webm/video sharing of plays on social media platforms
>Relocate the A's and Rays to better markets/stadiums
>Remove the green monster at Fenway park
>mandatory get rid of the bullshit transfer regulations when it comes to acquiring Asian/International players
>make a large investment on developmental/youth baseball programs across the country
>bring the baseball academy formula used in central and south american countries to the US and Canada.
>promote college baseball more, and adapt a Koshien style tournament for college teams. No conferences, no multi-game series. just 64 college teams competing in an old fashioned single elimination bracket challenge.

You don't. So stop fucking with it. The game as it's played is pretty close to perfect

The only problem with baseball is they play too many regular season games. It's 162 fucking games to get to the playoffs. This makes the everyday regular season game meaningless, and worthless to watch

If you want to fix baseball, you have to increase the value of Regular Season games. To do that you have to reduce the regular season to about 125 games. Only then would each game each take on more importance

But this will never happen because a 25% cut in the number of games would mean a 25% cut in revenue for owners and a 25% cut in salaries for players. And that's not ever going to happen

So enjoy your watered down product America

first good answer

You sir, have just saved baseball.

This and multi-ball and the sport is saved

It needs to adopt some MMA rules

You're not a real sport if you're not physically assaulting your opponent.

>Fixing something perfect
The problem is they market it poorly... they prefer to be stodgy and conservative. Whis is looking uglier and uglier to the modern world

Based. Its worth keeping interleague the same imo. Otherwise its essentially 2 leagues independent of one another

Your heads aren't just in the clouds, they've shot into orbit. Half those things aren't even in MLB's direct control.

Pitchers can't be removed from the game until they've recorded the final out of an inning. Length/pace of play is being killed by all the situational swapping.

Recently read an article saying mlb doesn't market Trout the way Lebron and Brady are. But I thought it was a good thing. I love the fact that you have all stars in Twins Dozier, Marlins Gordon, or Braves Freeman. Like even the shittiest teams have stars. Not like the Nets or the Browns, who have literally who's. I actually like that its not a star driven league. Saves us from shit reporting like Manziel watch or Lebron watch.

Bring back Bill Veeck from the dead

It reminds me of my dad who always wanted to play catch and go to the batting cages wih me because he watched TV shows and movies where the suburban father and son bond together through baseball. It's sickening. I cringe whenever I see people throw the first pitch or whatever.

The difference between now and 100 years ago:

1 ... advertising time
2 ... pitching changes
3 ... more walks and strikeouts

in that order

the question was how to improve the sport, not how to just improve the MLB.

it's important to aim high to begin with as well.

reducing the number of regular season games is the only way to improve the game,
which will never happen

You might as well say "have the MLB go bankrupt and start over"

These "threads" are cancer.

tell that to players whenever they are posting up in the paint

>Shorten the MLB season by 10-20 games, so the world series won't bleed into frigid November
Yes, 16 team leagues, 150 games would be good
>Reduce or completely eliminate inter league play
Yes
>Eliminate all blackouts
Yes
>broadcast games on standard channels like NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX more frequently.
Yes
>Expand/reduce cost of the MLB streaming service
MLB already has the GOAT streaming service but yes
>Allow unrestricted gif/webm/video sharing of plays on social media platforms
Yes
>Relocate the A's and Rays to better markets/stadiums
A's to Portland, Rays to Montreal desu
>Remove the green monster at Fenway park
'NO'
>mandatory get rid of the bullshit transfer regulations when it comes to acquiring Asian/International players
Pretty sure Gook and Nip leagues do this to protect their teams
>make a large investment on developmental/youth baseball programs across the country
Okay
>bring the baseball academy formula used in central and south american countries to the US and Canada.
Yes
>promote college baseball more, and adapt a Koshien style tournament for college teams. No conferences, no multi-game series. just 64 college teams competing in an old fashioned single elimination bracket challenge.
GOAT idea desu

It's not just the developmental stuff, a bunch of those things are at the mercy of existing contractual obligations with the media and team ownership and/or new spending without funds. Good luck doing any of that while at the same time lowering ticket prices and reducing the number of games. Unrealistic.

get rid of the batter and add a catcher for the batting team. the catchers fight for the pitch and whoever gets it runs the bases(full padding) while team tries to tackle him(hard)
