Just got a job as a custodian cleaning a factory for a good amount of money and a killer schedule.Getting hate for it because its a "below me" job.You know what ive noticed? People aint comfortable with them selves and a narratives to "live your job" is seemingly pushed.Even I was kinda embarrassed to do it at first, but im making more if not equal money to everyone who has commented on my job ,not to mention my two days on two off is golden.Im still self conscious a little, but happy about the job.Anyone else run into this kinda shit?

I'm a cashier/stocker at a fucking dollar tree...
Fucking kill me

just stay for a bit and wait till they have an opening for ass.Store manager.Pay isnt much better form what ive seen but if you can do that for 2 years you can get alot of high paying jobs in retail as managers and such.

Yep. I'm in auto repair and make about close to what all my friends with degrees make with MUCH less stress. Never have to work weekends and rarely ever have to stay past 5pm. Granted they have more options finding a job but I have no debt and am looking to start investing my savings.

I did this shit for 5 years bro. Fuck em and do what you gotta do.

I've been there a year already. They've been dangling a promotion in my face for the past 7 months. Apparently my store manager will be leaving at the first on the year and im up for the merch manager job since the current merch manager will become the store manager.

go for ANY management job.If will help you in retail if you wanna stay in it.Plenty of jobs ive seen just want supervisor exp and was usually never specific about what you did...just that you supervised it.

You can apply for a million positions that pay better. They keep people by convincing them they "need" them. Trust me I've seen it. Make an indeed resume and apply at a million places.

yea I got factory friends that talk shit but while they make the same money as me,they have mandatory overtime. No choice.Im offered OT if I want it...but only if I want it.People seem less likely to want free time.

I agree with him too.IF you wanna stay there and move up,cool. If not there are plenty of jobs...at least where im from.

sorta I used to insult people by calling them future janitors when I was kid

it was mostly cause the janitor at school chose me as a target was POS but I guess not all janitors are bully types

I used to be an accountant, and quit to sell on ebay. I took a pay cut, but the freedom I gained is priceless. I work around 20 hrs a week, and I work whenever I feel like it. and Fuck You! Joe from accounts receivable.

Most people don't realize how much custodians make when they work in industrial/office buildings. The ones that make shit pay are the one's at schools, small stores, and small restaurants. Even some at really big shopping malls make decent pay. I forgot what it's called but there's a position where you basically oversee all the custodial work for an entire building and it makes like 90K. People giving you shit don't know anything about it and would consider themselves better if they were a manager at a Macy's

who cares what ppl think. Do they pay your bills? No, so fuck'em .

just do whatever makes you satisfied in life. sure, work to live, and not live to work, and all the other cliches included, etc. I work a typical job, although the pay is pretty much double the amount compared to other companies with the same position. I can live and do just about anything as myself. that's really all I care about at the moment.

Teach me how to sell on eBay

>a "below me" job

based on your paragraph there i'd say it's perfect for you.

Having the free time is one of the reasons I took the job.The factory I worked in MADE you work Saturdays regularly. It wasn't so bad but when you are working 12 hours a day and only get one day to get everything done and have some time to yourself it gets numbing.Couldent do it the rest of mylife

>blacked girl
so you enjoy bbc porn?

>The factory I worked in MADE you work Saturdays regularly
why do you care about weekends so much? I'm just curious.
I always prefer to have my days off during the week because it's easier to get shit done like errands.

As someone who works a sales job I envy you. Decent schedule and being able to go a whole day without saying a word to someone sounds heavenly. Working 7 days a week putting on a facade that you give a shit what people do with their money isn't the best way to live. Especially hard when you have to do it all hungover.

Its not that its the weeked, its that after they took sat off I only had one day to do anything and most people were gonna be sleeping for work monday.I do like the weekdays off to get car repairs or shop. Its more about the only two days I have off was cut to one.

this.

thats not from Auschwitz, its from the 1905 Russian Revolution

Believe your referring to the position head of shit scrubbing

checked.Yea I worked retail for 3 years...im highly done with the general public and their general stupidity.Yea its gonna be an easy job the recruiter said. They even offered me a dollar more an hour if I would mop...like just mop.

im a fucking tutor/ta getting $8 an hour and have to teach all the bullshit the professors don't want to teach.

fml

someone's to justify closing off their borders

Been called that too,but funny thing is I dont clean bathrooms, just mop the entire shift.

accounts reievable isn't accounting, lol

what? care to clarify?

steal a bunch of shit
run it over with your car
sell it for like new
profit

I used to work in support for US Cellular. Before them, I had never been written up, however, after going to the bathroom outside of my regularly scheduled break, I got a "verbal" write-up (even though I had to sign off on it) and a 25 minute lecture from a female supervisor who said if or continued to happen, I would need a note from my doctor. I've never felt more humiliated.

our IT guy at me school quit to do entry level work in a factory, he made like $15/hr doing IT and will make $14 doing ENTRY level shit at the factory and plus its a 5min drive vs 30min

I got shit like that done to me at my retail job.I got back at the guy,but yea..its humiliating.Specially when your talked down to.

thats the truth of it.People dont like working grunt work now.Everyone is pushed into college but its over-saturating the high up market.

I'm 39 and was a "leader". That bitch made me feel like I was six and pissed my pants in class.

I also applied for a factory job that just had me putting conveyor belts together...started at 17 an hour.

WTF? Unless you were gone for an hour or something, why would anyone give you a hard time for taking a leak??
>Never let your bladder get full outside of designated time periods!

powertripping bitch

how much money are we talking?

it fucks with the manhood.

It happens alot user.I remember my earliest retail job.I hyper extended my arm and fucked up my elbow. So instead of taking workmans comp,I toughed it out and worked with one arm.ONE FUCKING ARM IN SHIPPING AND RECEIVING.I was then told I want working hard enough( obviously since I only had one working arm) and was threatened to be put outside to get carts...thats what I get for loyalty and trying to save the company money.

when he told me that, it was my deciding factor on fuck college after college what are the odds of me getting 70k+/yr? when he can make just the same doing entry level shit I could do with the difference of 77k in debt what's the point of college? Hell I'd probably be stuck working shit jobs til I find one with my degree in it so I said fuck it I'll go to tech school, learn a trade and make more than my classmates will

14 to start with 8 hours of mopping and a one dollar and hour raise for doing said mopping.

trades will net you mass money if you are good at em electricity and welding will always get you a job.If you wanna hit the work floor temp agencies hire for factories all the time, shit pay but if you get hired in some will pay alot,if not you are getting exp to put on resume for other big paying factories.

I work in a slaughterhouse as a line grunt on the skinning floor and make 20.10 hr for easy money job.

If you're young with no real plan/cant afford education, consider joining the military. The GI bill helps with school after your contract is up. I am now a DoD cybersecurity contractor with a very stable job and income.

thinking welding or mechanical work, hell maybe even IT I'm fairly good with computers and security and nothing wrong being a blue collar worker, someones gotta do it and they're high in demand if I go welding probably be travelling pipeline is my goal they make big money

>8 hours of mopping

It's going to seem fine your first day. Give it a week or two.

Nice thing about trades is they tend to be resistant to layoffs or outsourcing, etc. You always need an electrician, you always need a plumber, you always need a mechanic. Welding is a good field, I'm learning myself.

Sue? Da fuq you doing on Sup Forums?

I've worked as an armed contractor in D.C., I've ran an amusement park in Virginia... Man I moved to this po'dunk Florida town where the most illustrious job is working at Target. So I was hired on the spot...

Be humble or be humbled brother. A job is better than sitting around looking for work.

already had a job with hours of that shit.Thats why I got podcasts and music.

I work night shift at a 7/11 and make 9.09/h. The best part is, i usually take care of shit on the store floor while my co-worker takes care of customers and shit behind the counter. So that means the only time i really have to talk to people is when they're too stupid to read the prices that are clearly posted all around the store or when a long line has formed. Other than that and the deliveries on Thursday, i spend the rest of my time in the back office browsing Sup Forums and watching YouTube. Shit is easy.

a job that doesent feel like a job is best...depends on company and management too

took welding in HS and have a class next semester and just love it for some reason the avg wage is like $25/hr I think

Oh the manager is from corporate and he's a pushover. I steal shit all the time and he can clearly see me on the cameras yet he never says anything. He's also racist torwards blacks cuz he thinks they're gonna steal from his store. Kinda ironic if you ask me.

sounds like a sweet gig for the time being

depends where you are I think. Also what level you are.Apprentice, journeymen etc etc...but its all good money.

haven't started yet and not going union either just gonna get my tech school done and apply to places if I have no luck then I'll just enlist in the Air Force and say fuck it

I'm in sales: It's brutal until you count the cash. Same sentiment though.

Depends on the process, certs, and experience. There's a guy I know that works for a shop but also teaches welding classes on the side, and I think he's around $35ish? One of the guys he works with does pressure vessel welding and is closer to $50 for some jobs, even more when offsite.

Good stuff, I really like welding. There is something amazing about being able to manipulate a material that is far stronger than you

its so relaxing to do I just wanna find a laid back spot where no ones on your ass and as I said before I could make more than my classmates who go to college I'm still a senior in HS and nowadays schools make it seem like you will be poor if you don't go to college and almost required afterward while trades are always overlooked and never mentioned

I'm a server at 32 and I make more money then most people with a degree and work half the time. Plus I sell weed and shrooms and that puts me in the range of someone with a masters. Fuck what anyone thinks man. Make that skrilla. If you define yourself by your job you're a sad sack of shit. Also the winner of the game is the one with the least stress.

Yes it is. Along with accounts payable
