Horrible... DS9 and TNG are still best.

The Orville is the better new series

Not as bad as The Orville but still bad

Vikings is better

It's shit, don't bother

megalinks on reddit

And about the show itself...
It's dumbed down. A lot of ham-fisted SJW propaganda. TNG starts with a trial of humanity for its violence, Voyager starts with the Caretaker story, even DS9 has a nice opening about Cardassian occupation. And what do we have here? Two cunts having a retarded chit-chat that concludes in a clit-measuring contest...

It is "star" but it isn't really "fleet". It has its moments but, generally, immersion won't exist in this show. Characters are bland and uninteresting, they have no spine whatsoever. This new StarTrek is like a sitcom and was certainly made for people watching sitcoms.

All in all, it's mediocre. Something like Expanse but with much worse actors and less respect for the audience's intelligence. For the first time in the series, though, special effects are actually good. It's the only good side of the show. No more guys in rubber suits. Still, Klingons look retarded.

The Orville actually isn't that bad. I was skeptical because it was Seth MacFarlane but it didn't have all the lol randumb stuff that turned me off of Family Guy. Not Futurama tier but not terrible.

Tell me more about how sjws changed your show.

Got those links from reddit?

dont waste your time, it's shit

ewatchseries.to/episode/star_trek_discovery_s1_e1.html

so whats your option on a million ways to die in the west? I don't think seth as evolved much as an actor, its basically the same performance,

If you don't know this you don't understand trek

it's dumbed down and hamfisted, whereas TNG and DS9 would employ subtlety in metaphors, this show instead has explosions and a black lady who thinks she's the first black lead (hint: she's not, there was Captain Sisko in 1993, and also Trek never centers around a single character, it's an ensemble show)

Trek used to be smart, this is really not

checked

If you enjoy feminist propaganda you'll enjoy the new star trek.

Retarded sassy black bitch "Vulcan" girl does everything wrong, pisses everyone off, gets people killed, but the show tries to pretend she's a victim. It panders to black women, hard. Just typical she-boon behavior trash.

>propaganda
>in star trek
>new thing

I've never seen it. I just know I went into The Orville thinking I'd hate it and it wasn't too bad. The previews made it look like total ass.

well, the movie is shit. Seth had final edit somehow and made the thing way to long and self indulgent. I got the same vibe from Orville, you only really hear one comedic voice from all the characters, seths.

It's not awful so far, I'm gonna give it the benefit of the doubt and see where they go with it. Very different kind of Trek but I'm gonna keep watching for the moment. Still has the potential to turn into absolute garbage.

this new show has reverted to the level of subtlety shown in your image after several decades of positive progress in making it more philosophical

I think people are judging it prematurely. Of course they're gonna do something big and flashy for the premier. They keep swearing that it's all gonna tie into TOS and not break canon though so I'm gonna wait a season before I start bitching. It's definitely different but reasonably interesting so far.

Fuck off lorefag, kys. You ruined all star treks post tng

This fucking show. It's actually OK but then I've watched all the versions. But...

>Captain is a chink
>main character is a nigger
>Klingons have been changed to be more niggery
>the ship is called Shenzhou

I wonder if they'll ever run in to a strange race of white heterosexuals.

just watch it, it sucks. great eye candy but my god its not trek. The orville on the other hand just feels like trek hopeful future, and just kinda fun, and flaky. Im growing tired of edgy in your face stuff...kinda looking for more fun less...real issues bullshit force down your throat.

I get the problems with the show. Specifically what did the left do to your show?

Did they turn the trek universe into a socialist paradise with no currency? Does start trek normally portray capitalism ib a negative light?

What about diversity? Did they push interracial shit in the 60s? What was that vulcan saying. "Infinite diversity in infinite combinations"?

I can continue. What about religion? How come the only religion ever referenced by a human is a native american religion?

Its been left since its inception.

You obviously didn't watch the second episode because the chink captain dies like a bitch and the Shenzhou blows the fuck up.

Lol yeah, the klingon agenda is literally "we is kangz!"

They've set the agenda, it's SJW central

>post your analyses of the show so far
it has potential
I see where many of the claims of pushing extreme left wing ideologies come from
but I also see a lot of far right stuff being presented as well, granted most of it is from the klingons so it will probably end up being "this alt-right shit is bad bc klingons are bad"
but if it sticks to a story about the federation in direct conflict with the klingon empire both militarily and ideologically, it should be a great series
unfortunately from the teasers at the end of the 2nd episode, I don't see that happening
it looks like it will be following the trans genderqueer demivulcan through xirs jounery of self and social acceptance

also
even though Seth is the worst comedian, actor, writer, and person that has or will live
Orville is still a better show
and did the transgender thing better
and had the balls to bring up the MRA issue of circumcision

Could be worse. The ferangi are stereotypical space jews.

It was always sjw central. Its been preachy since the begining

CBS is to Star Trek as George Clooney is to Batman.

Did you watch ep 3 yet?
>What is gender?

It really isn't too bad so far and I assumed it would be. Anyone bitching about SJW bullshit this early into is full of shit.

I hate that pandering liberal bullshit as much as the next guy but realistically this is no more pandering than any other Trek so far.

lol, why would that change?

Reasonable

the social engineering in TOS and TAS
and even through most of TNG, DS9, Voy, and Ent
was presenting both sides and starting a conversation
Discovery is very blatant "this is what the morality of the future is, accept it and follow it"

Blew the fuck out of child genital mutilation.
Pissed off all the trannies on Sup Forums, that's for sure

yes...and "i have been suffering from the tits all day". thank goodness my wifes lisping vagina kept me in a good mood

The problem is that Star Trek is too big as a brand for its niche, but not big enough to stand on its own.

STD cannot be like the other Star Trek shows, because by now it is too big and too much money has to put into it. But it has to be a generic Sci-Fi show, to make a profit (not enough people would watch it, if it was too Star Treky)

The Orville on the other hand has no brand. Therefore, it can fill out its niche perfectly without having to aim for the big audience.

So we either have to hope that STD fails bigly and drags the Star Trek brand down with it, so that Star Trek can go back into its niche.
Or STD is so successful, that they can make Star Trek more Star Treky again

eztv

Discovery has potential but I think they kinda forgot about what makes star trek star trek. You know like adventure every week. Maybe the characters growing. A likeable crew. Ds9 did the storylines good for the most part but they still had that. All we saw in discovery is some quasi Klingons get pissed and introduced us to Micheal. A woman. Orville actually feels and definitely looks more like Star trek. It has more potential to be a great show then discovery imo.

Orville was an hour long dick joke that didnt even travel anywhere.

It had the tone of ST but none of the substance.

Anyone excited for Stargate origins?

orville is a better star trek, but as a standard scifi its entertaining. it looks almost movie quality, but the goddamn lens flares and crooked camera angles do get really annoying. theyre trying way too hard to copy jj abrams style.

plot was entertaining. i liked it. well see if it gets better or flounders though since its a continuity based show

>a black lady who thinks she's the first black lead
the actress said that she is the first female (!) black lead, the media shortened her statement.
It was not the actresses fault

To your other point, that it used to be more subtle, I would disagree and agree with you at the same time.
Yes, it was differently presented back then, but the context was different as well.

What we consider subtle today, was not really that subtle back then

covenant on kodi

are you retarded?

exept the third episode into the series was more controversial than the gender episode in the actual star trek series. you must not have seen it yet or you wouldnt have posted this

I saw it. Not impressed.

Its just normalizing trans behavior.

How?

No. They will do nothing but drag stargate down further.

Ever see SG:U?

no its not....i got he feeling ADULTS should wait until their children get old enough to actually know if they need the surgery, instead of :oh my kid thinks hes a she or vica versa so we'll mutilate them. before they even understand whats, what.

how the fuck did you get that out of it lmao. it was questioning culture and forcing your culture on other people. like the way the western world forces its culture on the rest of the world

Did we watch the same thing?

>Ever see SG:U?
I actually like SG:U

DS9 is trash

exactly. it was sending an anti transgender message if anything

It advertised that its culturally alright to give a baby a sex change even against a parents wishes.

>DS9 is trash
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

It isn't like people don't have a reason to mistrust Star Trek. When you ask people what their favorite series are it is usually tng, tos, and maybe ds9. Rarely will you ever get somebody that admits voyager was good and people act like enterprise doesn't exist. This new show is full of sjw garbage that alienates the old fans and will fail to pick up enough new ones. It may get another season or two but then it will be cancelled.

I ended up using bit torrents to watch Discovery and Orville. They are OK but not worth paying for. They might get some of my money for models of the spaceships or a game on Steam but that's about it.

But they mutilated the baby anyways. And we're supposed to believe thats just their culture.

That's because art reflects the times and present day society. So of course it is dumbed down.. that's the only way dumb fucks can understand it. And the majority of people are dumb fucks. Where have you been kiddo?

>this

It's been 2 episodes and they are actually more like 1 movie-length intro to the series.

I'm as skeptical as the next person but until we actually have 3-4 episodes more I don't think we can see this as a precedent.

Completely ignoring the SJW undertones that have lets face it, been in it since TNG;

>it's pretty well shot
>they did well with graphics
>the show has started with a possibly-good plot

I'm-at-least-going-to-watch-a-few-more-episodes/10

Chicks name is Michael
>just a coinicidence

Two human chicks fight 2 Klingon warriors, >score is 1-1

that's exactly the opposite of what it advertised.
The only shit aspect was the predictable womyn are equal in all regards crap. I'm not sure if the arguments proposed where intentionally shitty.

I don't remember that?
The entire crew was against baby genital mutiliation and portrayed that mentality as the right methodology.
Can you explain more in detail how you think it showed the opposite of that?

I enjoyed most of Voyager and Enterprise. Haters are just negative.

5593070313

...

yes, they are aliens. The rest of the crew hated that it happened....but that's their way...so they just have to suck it up.

agreed

> If you don't like something I like then you are a hater.

Even the worst shows have a few fans. Doesn't make you a successful or good person it just means you have bad taste.

...

I like sgu, rewatched it last month

You have horrible taste

>It's okay to not like things
>It's okay, but don't be a dick about it
>It's okay to not like things
>Just don't be a dick about the things you don't like

OP here.

just watched the first episode.

so far I'm undecided.

obviously its going to push left shit, but in previous star treks (especially ds9) it did it in a very intelligent way, so that even when you disagree with the morals of the show, you're still left with respect for it due to the lack of general intellectual dishonesty that you normally see elsewhere.

I'm still skeptical but one line jumped out at me as a sign that this show still may be like that. when she said "don't confuse culture with race".

I'm worried though since the plot seems kinda predicatble, and what I predict is that they're gonna go full sjw antifa post modernist with how they demonize the position of the klingons. but i guess ill give them a chance.

in other areas of the show:

the dialogue is giving me mixed reactions. some of it is characteristic of what you'd expect from star trek, but some of it is out of place.

the writing has a couple inconsistencies in the beginning which really popped out at me right away.

the aesthetics of the klingons are pandering to prometheus.

show otherwise looks ok.

camera work was annoying on the planet. showed no thought was put into it.

KEEP IN MIND I HAVE ONLY SEEN THE FIRST EPISODE.

>It's okay to not like things
>It's okay, but don't be a dick about it

What website do you think you are on exactly?

Both shows were great. Never trust a Canadastan to review shit. They're idiots.

Maybe the first half of ds9 tried to do things in an intelligent way but by the end it was pretty preachy and hypocritical.

Unless you really love everything Star Trek then don't bother. Most Star Trek fans hate it because it cares nothing about the Star Trek name other than trying to make money off of it. The camera work is nauseating and they are force feeding sjw garbage down people's throats.

90% of the entire seasons budget was spent on the first 2 episodes, lmfao. If you think it was good prepare to be let down extremely.

Nothing like any other star trek, they took names only and completely changed the rest. Worst than Enterprise imo.

With the exception of DS9, ST has always been progressive propaganda. It wasn't as obvious at times because they managed to write decent sci-fi episodes here and there. Unfortunately, Discovery doesn't seem to be making any effort to disguise their propaganda with decent "problem of the week" stuff, but it might learn before it hits s2. Otherwise, I'll be impressed if this shit survives more than a season.

It's ok not to like it faggot. Stop trying so hard.

>It was pretty preachy and hypocritical
DS9 didn't try to have a message. Its narrative was literally "what happens on the frontier where starfleet has little input and isn't always a call away from providing support." Its entire theme was how the people who AREN'T on Earth or a starship deal with the day-to-day while trying to live up to the ideals of Starfleet. It's a "tearing down" of the established universe.

if you like politically correctness, this is the show for you.
The only white male is some sort of secondary person.

Who is this show's audience?
Black women? Chinks? Hood niggers?

DS9 and TNG are the best by far.

Here I thought this was obvious. Shit some faggots really do see what they want to see.

1. Kek, nice pic.
2. Checking those dubs.
3. Interesting thought.

I haven't seen it yet but I am eager to check it out.

>money
>money
>money

You know what? The fans of the earlier series would watch it, all those filthy neckbeard nerds would too, some normies would watch it too.
We feel less of Rodenberry's influence and more of jj dickcheese's.

>Most Star Trek fans hate it because it cares nothing about the Star Trek name
and the massive "fuck you" to canon
even if this takes place (re causality rather than chronologically) after the temporal cold war, that still doesn't provide enough of a change to justify most of it

most of the ships should be Miranda and Oberth classes, both of which canonically predated the Constitution class and registration number wise come from this era
but we don't see one of those ships
and the ships we do see look even remorely like Miranda or Oberth

holographic tech was a new thing on TNG and was limited to specialized rooms
holo-emitters in every room wasn't a thing until Voyager

all the displays were touch screen or holo-projections
yes I understand that the first is available to us now and the second is not far off
but ST history diverted drastically from reality in the 1990s when neither of those were realistic possibilities
and the divergence was a massive global war that nearly ended life on Earth
war is a great prod for tech development
but that prod always pushes it towards practical use and away from aesthetics and ergonomics

Star Trek was always about trying to get different people to live and work together in peace. It never made a point to exclude white people as a form of activism.

/thread

liking star trek to begin with is admitting you are a democrat and a closet fag sjw

there have always been sjw shit in star trek it's about people mostly being over it, tng often just hid it between other species other than humans often being very racist rather than humans. except when it comes to cardassians because they're assholes.

Come on, there are no white males, but they have a retarded-accent chinkress.

The holographic technology is likely so they don't have to show the bridge of a bunch of different ships to cut down on production costs. They could have used green screens though.

I hear the next few episodes will feature a Muslim crew member. No info beyond that. Supposed to be an "alien race" that happens to have complete body coverings and strict laws about everything
