Illmatic is one of the finest examples of a timeless album, and the production still holds up today. If there's one thing I hate more than oldheads who only bash the new generation of hip hop, it's hypebeasts like you who only bash the older generation.

this is the opposite of a dated album, literally the only thing thats even kind of dated is the weird reverb on a few drum tracks on the album (the world is yours, one love) but other than that this album sounds like it could've come out yesterday

It is definitely the best hip hop album ever made. However, it's not the only perfect hip hop album. 36 Chambers, Liquid Swords, Madvilliany, College Dropout, Late Registration, The Cold Vein, and The Low End Theory are all flawless.
