Looks like a TGV

Probably, but would prefer the hyperloop.

Maybe if they change the colors

Prefer this state to fall into the ocean already. We are running out of water, surrounded by poisonous SMOG, high cost of living, and invasion from the 3rd world. We are now more concerned about our "SUPER HIGH SPEED RAIL" and new gun laws that are going through our senate.

no I have a car and I don't plan on visiting California

yes driving into town is an all day chore as it is now.

It will still be slower than taking a plane and will need ongoing taxpayer subsidies.

The hyperloop is just another meme idea by Elon Musk. That guy has already scammed the government out of millions.

But then what. What if your job is far from a station? The BART and Metro down in LA is terrible.

Wow, this design is clearly ripping off glorious Dutch railway engineering. Once again, the U.S. is far behind on innovation.

Hell yes I would

Though making Los Angeles so close so fast is going to spark a LOT of problems.

Criminal elements are going to capitalize on this haha.

it might just bankrupt CA, which will make me eternally happy

classic americans stealing japanese technology...
japan has had this tech. for over 40 years now.. stupid american dogs

US trains are really the worst

>I'm a NE faggot who hasn't had to deal with hordes of shitty Californian migrants ruining my state

Ftfy*

Yes, if I'm still alive by then

So what?

Europe has had traditional high speed railways for decades too, doesn't mean everyone else should stop building them does it?

no i live in cali, born and raised. but i am leaving for all the reasons Sup Forums has spelled out

Well I'm not. Fuck California.

there's already little reason for anybody to go to LA on purpose, and it'll be zero by the time this dumb train is finished

the state is maybe 20 years away from being a 5% white Brazil clone with every financial bubble imaginable bursting at once

I likely will never ride it.

But I'll certainly pay for it...

That they are.

The places HSR could really speed don't have the population to support them and the places that could actually use the capacity are built up and prohibitively expensive.

Trains got supplanted by aircraft, and until that changes for any reason they're not coming back.

>96 billion dollars spent already and not a foot of track laid.
>It will have to be tax payer subsidized
>It will go the exact same speed as the Amtrak already on the same course
>In a no bid contract, construction was awarded to, surprise surprise, Nancy Pelosi's husband

Yeah, this thing is awesome

Would you rather we stubbornly refuse to update our infrastructure because other people did it first?

No, if I'm travelling within 500 miles I'm going to take my own car so I have something to drive when I get there. Beyond that I'm taking a plane because I enjoy flying and its faster/cheaper. Trains are for cargo transport. i can't wait for some endangered tortoise to get run over by these and environmentalists shut it down.

Given the times we are living in, mass-transit such as a high speed rail would be obvious targets for terrorists. But hey, good thing California is passing new gun legislation!

>96 billion

Jesus Christ. So who's pocketed all that? The husband?

Primarily, yes. As well as the state attorneys that have permitted them to bypass all of the ecological restraints that hinder every other business.
This state is a cleptocracy

>96 billon for 1300km
I don't get why it's so expensive. Spain invested like half of the money for twice the length, around 34 billon Euros to get 2500km of high speed rails between 1992 and 2012 (the 2nd longest HSR network in the world, currently exceeds 3000km). I get that labor is more expensive in the US, but so much more expensive?

>>In a no bid contract, construction was awarded to, surprise surprise, Nancy Pelosi's husband
No way. Source?

1 party government in CA.
corruption from top to bottom (see Leland Yee)
if u spout leftist dogma no one cares of your ability to govern.

did i mention we're 40% mexican?

The geography of California poses some serious engineering challenges. For example, the rail line is expected to cut through the San Gabriel Mountains as it approaches Los Angeles. That would require miles of tunneling through geologically active mountains that include the San Andreas Fault.

FUCK OFF COMMIEFORNIA

STOP COPYING US.

PIC RELATED, THE ONLY HIGH SPEED RAIL THAT MATTERS. IM SICK OF YOU AMERICUNTS PLAGARISING EVERYTHING.

FUCK OFF

KIND REGARDS

BRITAIN

>implying there won't be infinite bailouts until the whole country is kill

If it's not a maglev train in a vacuum tunnel then it sucks.

depends how much pork barrel they can use. you have a point

no Ill just drive

Yet Spain is the 2nd most montanious country in Europe after Switzerland. You would be surprissed by the ammount of viaducts and tunnels that had to be built (and are still being built). But it's true that there aren't big quakes over there.

That thing is only "high speed" for a few short segments". Still though, it's pretty cool to be able to ride the train to Brussels or Paris in just a relatively short train ride.

If the train were to crack and not be airtight, all the oxygen would immediately be sucked out in the vacuum and basically rip out your colon. It may be a good idea for transport though.

Alot of money for something no one is gonna use.

Well... that would require me to actually GO to California.

And since I decided to blacklist California from my list of travel destinations year ago, that's pretty unlikely.

Trick question. It's not going to be high speed anymore.

This train project is a massive boondoggle. Diane Feinstein's husband got the contract to build the first section of it. They are starting construction in the middle of fucking nowhere.

It's the literal train to nowhere.

>t. Mai Waifu

I'll be long dead by the time they finish. So only if they need to transport my coffin or something

>In a no bid contract, construction was awarded to, surprise surprise, Nancy Pelosi's husband

Feinstein's husband

>Feinstein

You don't say.

The Metro just opened a line from downtown LA to Santa Monica yesterday. You can now take a choochoo train to the beach

To be fair, doesn't that describe airports and doesn't include the greater amount of time used faffing about to even get into the line to get into the plane?

>passegenger kilometer per head
The amount of kilometers travelled by a single person per year?
