Hey Sup Forumsros I'm a retard so now I have to write a philosophy essay in a single night on whether or not freedom is real. Should I get high beforehand? It might make me write better. However, there's a huge chance that I'll get sidetracked and not end up writing it at all.

Do an edible, then start writing. It'll slowly kick in when you run out of ideas

I only have dabs right now.

You have the freedom to high, or not.

Freedom is subjective.

Write on a piece of paper that to demonstrate true freedom you have chosen not to do the assignment.

true freedom would be doing nothing at all.

Welp. Self control. I've had productive highs, and they are dope affff, otherwise I end up eating my whole kitchen and falling asleep, waking up to a sense of dissatisfaction that can only be coped with my calling myself a piece of shit for hours until I mustard up the courage to get up and face whatever i was delaying. But otherwise productive.

OP here
The essay is 1/3 of my grade in the course

Write before. Smoke after
Wake up early to spend 25m reviewing before you submit.

OK, well if I was taking this seriously then I'd probably link the essay to the concept of free will and whether that even exists (which I believe it doesn't)

Go check Sam Harris out on the subject on Youtube to give you a better idea. Would be hook I went with.

Prove freedom is real by freeing yourself from the requirement to write the paper.

Freedom is real to the point that people insist on it. I just paid the government $800 dollars for a permit to put a new roof on my house. $800 dollars to get the government's permission to put a roof on the house I own. That is a limitation on my freedom that my fellow citizens have seen fit to allow.

Get high and write 20 pages on my new roof.

haha you are going to fail 4th grade. again.

Draw yourself kneeling and submit it as protest to this injustice

There are only two kinds of free people. The super rich and the homeless. The rest of us are slaves to our posessions and other people.

I'm in first grade you goyim.

Well your clearly not taking school seriously if your procrastinating and getting high all the time. So why bother writing anything.

write about how people try to better their lives and have a purpose and help people then about how they will always become skeletons or ash if cremated because there is no freedom and nobody can escape that fate, everybody will die and billions have already lived and died before you

There is no free will.

Shoot up heroin, drink your own pee, drop out.

no just do your report you degenerate dumbass

Location? Show us the details of the permit. $800 seems to be a lot if you are just replacing a roof. Or are you doing more, which would be a more expensive permit.

This is now a thread about user's roof.

If I had more than 1 day I'd do it for you. I actually miss doing these in college.

OP here. I feel like I just not write the essay even if I don't get high. Then my night will be wasted.

Do you have any way of getting an extension? One you wont waste.

This is more of a physics answer, but it might help. Do you believe that if we had a computer complex enough to take a snapshot of the current location of every atom in the universe with the knowledge of how every atom interacts with each other through the 4 natural forces that we would be able to identify the past and future of every atom in the snapshot? If yes, then there is no freedom. Not that it end up mattering since we can't tell the difference.

Have an audio recorder on. Talking is easier than writing.

>whether or not freedom is real.
The freedom to kick a rock is real, the freedom to jump to the sun right now is not.

I can probably do it. I'm a decent writer and it's only 3 pages. I just have cite quotes from a certain text book. I really don't want to do that. Maybe I should write the part about what I think first and then write the parts about the two other philosophers after I have some ideas down. Thoughts?

That's compatabolism. You should check out Hobbes.

Well if you actually want help while you write this can you tell me what books?

I can't believe I just spelt compatibilism wrong.

Philosophy: A Text with Readings - Manuel Velasquez.

It's the 13th edition

Did your proffesor also give you a guide line sheet you can post?

Best option, smartest choice, never gonna happen.

...

Doesn't sound too bad. Can't believe this shit is 1/3 of your grade.

Convince yourself "Freedom" is real, get a little high, and write the argument using examples of "Soviet Lies" etc. Drop in big themes like "Socialism and Tyranny" Be sure to title your paper objectively something like "The Case for Millenial Freedom", use "citations", submit a "closing argument", "reference propaganda", and "hype it up", "finalize with a catchy slogan". Turn in your "personal" essay.

I know right?

Write high, edit sober. But if you have to take a particular direction on the paper, you should challenge the meaninng of the word "real" If we must actually designate something as "real," and humans are inherently flawed, then the word is not ultimately meaningful. Freedom is a constructed idea, but that doesn't make it any less real than say, the English language.

I'm thinking about using Hobbes's compatibilism and Sarte's existentialism.

I've got 5 hours and adderall I should be able to do it. I just have no motivation. I think there's something wrong with me.

The entire point is to talk about freedom it depends what you are talking about, it is contextual. You need to include various definitions of the word 'freedom', and make it clear what you are using, or use multiple.

The entire point is that there are freedoms and there are limitations.

There is not infinite freedom and there is not infinite limitations.

Try compare projections or second opinions, try to "include" outside interests.

Thanks

philosophy essays are the easiest to write, because it's all logic in your head, and no one is expecting you to come up with a new/groundbreaking idea unless it's your thesis.

Define freedom. Can people be truly free? What biological(can you fly?)/societal(can you steal from your neighbor?)/philosophical restraints are there on freedom?

in the more strict philosophical sense of 'free will', it comes down to: Is it possible for an individual to make a choice between two or more options.

Post anime tits and I'll throw you a free one.

...

get drunk and cynical and start writing

Just go on about some stupid shit like how true freedom would mean complete anarchy. In an ideal world our morals would keep us from doing what we deem wrong, but being burdened by morals ois essentially limiting your freedom.

Talk out of your ass.

Freedom clearly isn't real because you have to write a shitty essay when you would rather be high and doing some other mindless shit. The best philosopher that I can think of that might help you out with this is Thoreau. You can only do your best to go against the grain, but in the end, you are constantly resisting the natural order.

Freedom is real but is obscured to us by the makings of man. As we all learned during our first tastes of philosophy, we surrender small freedoms to our gods and governments to ensure our peace and prosperity. We cobble together the walls and build the iron cage that shrinks the reach of personal will through our laws and ragulations.
