IS IT SAFE TO TORRENT WITHOUT A VPN?
I've been avoiding torrenting shit for the past year or so because of the massive crackdown on all the websites. I dont know what's safe anymore. Especially because every website has gigantic warnings telling me to get a VPN.
I can't decipher if that's spam or an actual warning.

it depends on where you are
what you torrent
and how anal the owner of the IP is about enforcing copyright

You will download shit full of viruses. Your ability scanner will not catch everything.
Congratulations on your new botnet membership.

Mainly just porn and the occasional movie
I don't do anything crazy and even at my height, I never exceeded 8-10 gigs a day

Thank god

I stopped torrenting altogether. There are sites out there that catalog or stream movies. A lot have popups though. Megasearch, Mega.nz files, Openload, google drive, and lots of file search sites.

don't torrent recent movies or video games

porn should be fine, the more obscure the better.

but as other anons have pointed out, your provider and country also matters.

me being in germany and torrenting hentai porn games, have never had an issue with it

You'll be okay. I have torrented fifty gigs of music and at least 30 movies, all without incident. You can get free vpn services if you want to be safe.

That's another question I have.
How do I use a VPN?
Cause I had one but never knew if it was doing it's job or not.

The only time i got a warning from my ISP was when i torrent Game of Thrones.

Dont torrent movies or any HBO series and you should be fine.

Never torrent a movie when the dvd quality was leaked before the actual release of bluray/dvd. They usually go after those people.

I tried to understand how to set up a vpn thru the torrenting app. Ive never been more confused.

Yep, totally, I do it all the time. Comcast can't do shit. Fuck them in the asshole. Want to see?

for one you should see your flag displaying something different than it usually does on boards like

My ISP used to be cool about it. Recently they started sending threatening emails for every single torrent I tried for. VPN required now.

I do it a lot. I got warnings. Then the warnings stopped. I'm sure they're logging it all somewhere, but who knows what/when/if they're ever go after users again. It hasn't payed off for them in the past.

here you go. Its's not that hard.

>Can't
Just because you haven't had anything done doesn't mean they can't. They just would rather give you crap internet and charge you monthly than fine you one time in court that might not stick and gives them bad PR.

if you're in the UK, the larger ISP's are required by law to send you a threatening letter, though they genuinely do not care what the fuck you get up to on the internet because you're paying them a monthly fee. they'd rather have you as a customer torrenting shit instead of a non-customer. it's the government that make them do it.

Can you recommend a VPN?

Low price is important but I also want to be secure cuz otherwise what's the point.

The free one I had was called BetterNet
But I don't know if it only covered my browser's activities
It was confusing

Depends on the country.

Here in eastern europe, you can torrent whatever you want without any consequence. Only torrent site owners are getting occisional police raids.

you guys actually worry about it? lel

Private Internet Access

$3.33 per month

You might be able to find a free one but those seem to go up and down all the time. Avoiding that hassle is worth 3 bucks a month IMO.

i have torrented stuff since limewire days. never had a problem, just stay away from recent stuff. give it a few weeks

I would look into AlgoVPN. GO to lowendbox.com and buy a vps with a KVM.

Run the algo scripts and you'll be fine.

Cheap and you know its actually working (unlike nearly al paid for VPNs)

what country ? you can download everything in those shithole countries like poland
not sure about usa which is made of FREEDOM FREEDOM FREEDOM but almost everything illegal

The jews in germany are the worst.
You could download a song from a german "artists" and get a couple thousand dollar fine for a single song.
For older stuff too

this
everytime i got a letter it was for a VERY commercial file
i remember:
the last harry potter book
the hunger games movies
i still wouldnt risk torrenting without a vpn but if i really wanted it i might
it would just require being very careful

google ip locator to test you're VPN'ed

wasnt there something like things youve downloaded become illegal after 24 hours and you just have to delete it sooner ?

never heard of that in my country, but usually the offense is you helping to seed it to other users which you always do when using torrent.

No not really. And a good vpn can be had for $30 a year.

I use tunnelbear, but i don't have a credit card so i can't pay for the premium shit, but don't use free VPN's Tho, they will give out your private shit to companies. Tunnelbear or any other VPN's won't do it if you pay them.
