I'm an audio engineer so I eventually I want to build a studio in my basement. Gonna do all DIY acoustic treatment and get a pair of good studio monitors (probably focal cms 50s). Gonna be a while though before I can do that

Here's just part of it.

In picture:
Macbook Pro (I use Logic Pro X to record, and I use Mainstage 3 for live shows)
Korg Minilogue
Novation Circuit
Gear4Music Stand with 2 tiers and some homemade shelves

Grande Pedaltrain with:

El Cap, Bluesky, DD7, Organizer, Dunlop Volume X, Hoof Fuzz, RAT Pro Co Distortion, Jamman Stereo Looper, Chromatic Tuner...

A DI box, some other odds and ends.

Forgot amps. I have a Peavey 3120, and a Deville... Also got an old shitty Mixer and some speakers.

Here's the same gear as before, but from a different view, so you can see the pedalboard underneath.

Oh, and some electronic drums. Soon to be sold... Maybe.

Is that Audacity?

Who the fuck are you? Tame impala?

Maaate, do you have any material online? I'm wildly impressed with your gear

Thank you sir.

Not yet. Got a looot of different stuff recorded, stuff I really like, but I haven't posted it yet, because I'm all over the fucking place. Sometimes doing Post-metal, sometimes electronica, sometimes indie-rock, sometimes acoustic... Really hard for me to just stick to one thing, and i end up spreading myself too thin. Maybe one day it'll come into come into form and make coherent sense, but right now, I'm pretty unorganized.

Soon though, my friend.

Bunch of worthless niggers with more gear than talent.

Where's your music, faggot?

You know what? Fuck it. Maybe I'll post a demo tonight. I'll link it here.

Sweet, I'll be waiting.

soundcloud.com/user-28750621/song-idea-7-demo

Keep in mind, it's post-rockish, so it takes awhile to get moving. But it eventually comes in hard. Really explodes. Still not done, though. Needs vocals, I wanna do some synth stuff with it, and wanna continue expanding on it.

But it's a demo anyway. Tell me what you think.

Shit, it's a bit quiet. Listen with headphones, definitely.

most of these are pretty budget setups. You doing okay man? You need some money?

Poorfag here. Please make fun of my $40 amp and $100 electric guitar
DAW is Audacity
Folk, experimental rock, and post rock.
I plan on expanding a bit once I can get my hands on some pedals though.

Limitations can be a blessing. Trust me. When you have every option available, it can be very, very overwhelming.

Quiet yes, but you got it man, I'll keep an eye on your stuff

Thanks man, I really appreciate that. If there's any one thing I could do for the rest of my life, it's music. If only I could decide on a style I wanna do.

Mastering needs work, the second part sounds weaker than it should because of this. Other than that its good

Genre: Depressive black metal and Stoner doom metal.

Yeah, thanks for the suggestion. I'm trying to learn as I go. Any tips?

>If only I could decide on a style I wanna do.
I feel you, man. I'm having the same dilemma right now. Who knows, maybe our inability to decide on a genre will create a fresh new sound that people will love? That's my bit of optimism for the night.

True man. That's really all it takes. Just a matter of finding a way of making all the sounds I like flesh together in a way that isn't a trainwreck... lol

I'm actually a guitarist even if it doesn't look like it from the pic, so there's a lot of guitar stuff in the living room.
I don't really have a genre since I didn't have the chance to make a lot of music just for my own enjoyment for a long time.
when I record at home it's mostly keys and guitars for poppy, jazzy, neo-soul-y type productions, also some film sound design

Very nice setup, my man! Very clean.

Also, fuck yes, another person with a ML.

yeah, it does have the pre-gain mod. I like it alot (especially since the price is quite good). Have only compared it to the Manley one quite briefly, and it was awhile a go. No regrets on getting this one.

Thinking of just spending a bunch of money to get sustainiacs installed into my electrics.

This is my gear but I haven't quite figured out a setup that works for me. At the moment I'm just using this stuff for jamming either on my own or with bandmates. For actually making music I've been doing that all in a DAW with vst's.Too much hassle trying to do it with physical instruments; having to strew midi cables and audio cables everywhere.

Dude, this is great. Keep us posted.

Nice

What are your influences?

i dont understand what youre going at

Sorry, what fucking 4-chins secret is there to building a budget studio that you seem to have a monopoly on?

i think he's implying you should buy used gear even though well cared for music gear isn't actually too much cheaper. he might also think vintage gear is somehow better idk

I hope nobody would ever imply buying a used interface, that's an awful idea unless it's like made in the last few years.
Older interfaces have worse preamps, tracking, response, features, etc.

Looking into getting a Volca Keys and a couple of pedals (looper, reverb, delay etc).

FL Studio 12.5

Genres:
progressive house, downtempo, ambient, lowercase, noise, experimental stuff

if you want a proper DAW reaper is really good esp for guitar stuff and it's like winrar where they ask you to buy it but you can still use it without doing so. pedals are cool and all but honestly upgrading your amp a bit would be a lot more important. actually the best way is to buy a cheap interface for like 100 bucks like the scarlett solo where you can plug your guitar straight in and then use vst amps. they are pretty close to the real deal and infinitely better then any amp you could buy for the price of the interface. just pirate some vsts like bias fx or guitar rig and you got more pedals then you could ever want. if you still wanna go the analogue route later on and get a proper amp and pedals atleast you had some time to play around and now know exactly what you want to buy and you can still use the interface to plug a mic like a sm57 into and record your amp. would highly recommend going this route.

FL Studio 11 (torrented, hopefully Ill buy it soon)

Akai MPD 18
Korg Nanokey
Akai RPM3
Hercules DJ Instinct S Series (for DJing)

Trap instrumentals

behringer c1
focusrite 2i2

vsts: reaper vsts, bias fx, guitar rig, massive, battery, actually i pirated a shit ton more but massive for synth, battery for drumsamples and bias fx for guitar amp is what i use usually in combination with a few random reaper vsts for mastering like compression, eq and so on.

Completely retarded.
Interfaces and computers expire, and preamps continue to improve. 1073 replicas are better than the originals at this point.
Software also continually improves, and is replacing hardware, or in many cases on piece of modern hardware can replace many pieces of old hardware.

In fact the only thing that really stays the same is mics and monitors, and largely instruments themselves.

Started producing six months yet so I don't have much yet
I don't use the electric guitar since my amp is shit, I do have a classical guitar though
Any recs for the next thing most necessary thing I should get?

monitors got a lot better as well, something like a kii three or a geithain rl901k wasn't possible in the 80ies.

mics though plateaued pretty much, yeah. a basically perfect nanometer-exact condenser capsule design like the u47 has now been gold standard for over 70 years, only the surrounding electronics improved and the manufacturing got a lot cheaper.
