Thanks for the link! Is there some essential Grouper you'd reccomend?

Love this, thanks.

Do people still make mixtapes? I always just find a moment to show her what I like and she shows me what she likes, obviously I ain't making her listen to death metal or detroit techno, but you get what I mean.

Here's some normal entry level stuff. This is difficult because what you choose lyrically depends on what you want her to think you meant by including that song. Do you want to seem a little vulnerable and sad? Do you want love songs? Are love songs too lame?

The Postal Service - The District Sleeps Alone Tonight (not explicitly romantic but it'll probably stick in her mind. Plus girls love that band)
Smashing Pumpkins - Thirty-Three
Ween - Joppa Road
Fiona Apple - Left Alone / Valentine / Anything We Want
Massive Attack - Protection
anything by Elliott Smith. Maybe No Name #1.

I make them still. I had my parents old casette deck and I like to draw so I just started making them. I met a girl a few weeks ago while on a work trip and we exchanged addresses after a week long fling as she has a thing for written correspondence. Also gives me a good reason to find weird, sappy shit.

I'm going for a mix of vulnerable, kinda' sad shit with a good mix of poppy dancy shit. I feel like a mixtape is a good excuse as any to wear your heart on your sleeve so long as a line has been established between the two people

I'm gonna bump this because it's a nice thread

Yeah, I'm surprised by the lack of joke answers
Here's one:

Too bad she ain't a Deadhead.

I do, and at least one of my friends does. It's like any other kind of present. I just like making mixes in general, for driving or if I'm showing a friend some new bands and he wants to hear their best stuff I'll make a greatest hits

Share some of your track listings! Got any go tos?

Joni Mitchell - All I Want
Townes Van Zandt - I'll Be Here In the Morning
The Field Mice - Missing the Moon

Not a problem!

A I A dualogy to go into space
Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill for some chills
Ruins to just fuck you up deeply

I accidentally deleted my playlist folder when I was emptying my laptop hdd a couple months ago, so I don't have many on my laptop anymore, only discs, but here's one I'm working on for a friend

the "I Won't Leave My..." is "I Won't Leave My Wooden Wife for You, Sugar" by The United States of America

if i ever gave a qt a mixtipe, and i wouldn't
but if i did
it would be filled with grindcore, industrial, and noise

to become a man you remove your weaknesses

tempest - deftones
vermillion - slipknot
then maybe a bunch of alex c songs

thats all i can think of
