Copa América goes to the same year as Euro

>Starting in 2020, Copa América and Euro will be held on the same year.
>2019 edition will be in Brazil and will be the last one to take place on a odd year.
>2020 edition will take place on USA, thanks to the US Soccer desire to repeat the Copa América Centenario success.
>After that, the 2024 edition will be on Ecuador, resuming the alphabetic rotation of Conmebol countries.
>FIFA and UEFA approved the changes, because it would unify the football calendar and ease the release of players by the clubs

about fucking time. and let's hope they don't fuck it up

>implying this isn't just a cash grab so they can have Copa twice in 2 years again

Just a reminder that the 2020 edition will be a meme one

Why do you always fuck around with the years? It gives the impression everyone outside of europe is disorganised

As all of them 2bh

Will they include more countries from North America and the Caribbean, and make qualifying stages?

We need an international calendar on three years and nor four like now :

before 2026 everything is normal
>World Cup 2026 in June and July
>Every team of the World Cup is qualified for its continental cup the year after, the other teams play a first part of the qualifiers during the World Cup (or at least during the days before, when the 32 teams play friendlies)
>second part of the continental qualifiers in August, September, October and November 2026
>continental cups in June and July 2027
>qualifiers for the World Cup from September 2027 to November 2028
>Confederation cup in June 2028
>last games of the qualifiers (intra and inter-confederation play-offs) in a special session in January 2029
>World Cup 2029 in June and July
>continental cups in 2030
>Confederations Cup in 2031
>World Cup in 2032
>and so on

Pros :
>useless to have a World Cup with 48 teams when you have one every three years
>it's easier to bid for a World Cup for 32 than for 48 (right now, only ten countries in the world could do it : USA, Brasil, Spain, France, Germany, England, Russia, China and Japan)
>no empty year (even if the Confederations Cup is shitty)
>three years is still a big wait for a World Cup
>it gives more importance to the national teams
Cons :
>World Cup and Olympics can be on the same year

Also, the Gold Cup is fucking useless, just give 4 spots for CONCACAF teams that are not USA nor Mexico in every Copa America so they can play it well.

ten of twelve years ago, without democratized Internet, nobody was watching other continents' cups and less players were crossing the world. And as having a big cup every 24 monthes is legit, it was the best model people are taking.

That's really good for us.

Awful.

We should just send the B team to give new players a chance to shine no matter the outcome like we did in the Centenario, prepare some newfags for the qualifiers/WC

Nothing would feel so empty as winning a cup in the US.

Oh lovely! I can't wait to play against Panama and Jamaica or whatever country central america has. They killed the euros now killed the copa america, it's all about money not football quality(which will obviously go down by making a tough competition into a mickey mouse one). Wait till they also join CONMEBOL and CONCACAF completely

>CONMEBOL&CONCACAF Champion Libertadores League :)
>Qualifiers divided by groups, Brazil-Argentina-Uruguay never to be seen playing a match against each other again because they'll be busy playing against Honduras

Why does the Copa America even exist? It's just a shittier version of world cup qualifying anyway.

Why does the Euro even exist? It's just a shittier version of the copa america anyway.

Imfuckingplying, the Euro is usually so much better

I sure love small teams parking the bus in literally every game.

Or part time dientist vs England, amazing games.

The euros are just a shitty rip-off of the copa america, the same goes for european qualifiers, dogshit tier.

>another Copa America in the USA

Can't wait to shitpost with you Sudacas there again.

>implying anyone cares about the worthless spic cup that is the >copa America

Lel

>being this much of a clueless and biased beaner

Nah, Mexican.

Not another of those meme cups!

2 gold cups make more than that meme cup and that's where Concacaf makes most of their money
And plus countries like Montserrat and the British Virgin Islands have just as much power in this as France and they have no reason to change from the status quo
Why do you think they expanded the world cup? It's basically a bribe

CONMEBOL desperately trying to Messi a trophy huh.

Man why are you lying yourself like this though
