Hey Sup Forums, looking to watch a movie similar to Blood Diamond. Just watched it for the first time and it was great. Doesn't necessarily have to be set in Africa but just a REALLY fuckin good movie. Any suggestions.

Only movie I can think of with the modern desert grit and action.
I haven't seen Blood Diamond but this is a 10/10 action movie. Story is alright but the shooting/fighting scenes are amazing. Not sure if it has an english dub.

I was trying to think of a movie similar to blood diamond and this what I came up with.
What OP wants is a movie with a lot of players, usually in different countries all converging on a single goal or motive. Usually a movie where one key person throws a monkey wrench into the plan.
Die Hard is another good move, but its NOT xmas yet...

I'd recommend this. It tackles some pretty important social issues, addresses the injustice that took place in Darfur, has a compelling protagonist and the gunfight at the end was really well choreographed.

Have you seen Lone Survivor? Im not the biggest Wahlberg fan but this movie is crazy intense and gripping the whole way through
International intrigue with some action and solid acting
helps if you have a decent stereo system with a good sub, both great films tho.
This is the second movie to ever make me shed a tear in the 24 years I've been alive. Shit is intense.

Leo had this heavy Rhodesian (Zimbabwe) half Afrikaans accent. Im Afrikaans and the ",hey" he added to almost every sentence was a bit overdone. There are ppl that talk like that, but they could have reduced it by 40%. Good movie though.
yeh same sort of thing with Chris Kyle the American Sniper guy, theres a lot of skepticism around his story, but you always have to expect exaggeration and manipulation from hollywood and I think its alright if the movie is top tier, which they both were.

Also this me again. This movie perfectly fits the genre of which op requests. There have been a few movies listed here that also match that genre. But I'm flabbergasted to find that The Last King of Scotland, wasn't included.

This is the absolute worst war porn movie of all time.
They fucking jumped off a cliff in a group like a bunch of teenage girls on a dock and they all get shot dozens of times.
Literally you lose track of who's who, just because they keep getting shot and taking cover and then getting shot again and covered in blood and dirt and dust, getting shot even more times and screaming, all with individual moments of heroism and screaming and then getting shot one last time and then getting shot again.

That's because they are all the same movie, just refined more every time.
Guy loses his stuff after getting entangles with powerful locals, runs a bit, grits his teeth, turns around and goes straight through them.
This last one is best because the loner is so damaged he wins nothing but being able to keep going. He has nothing to offer of significance except his blood. Hardy has the fucked up troubled look pitch perfect.
4th and best version of a simple story told well.
