As children get older, they learn the difference between fiction and reality.

But some children are naturally stupid, and never learn to think critically, like you.

But he is critiquing atheism you retarded neckbeard

>we can't talk about the alternatives to what I want to critique
>why don't you agree with me, Sup Forums?
>reeeeeeee.wav
Fuck off back to Sup Forums

Because believing in a god in 2017 in absolutely ridiculous.

You think too highly of young people Believe me, the majority of young people are still brainwashed unintelligent idiots.

THE CURRENT YEAR!!!

OH. MY. "GOD"

Because they were raised in the church, the church doesn't necessarily address a lot of the questions they have, whether it has answers or not, and they are rebelling against their parents just like every other teen in history. It also gives them a feeling of intellectual superiority, regardless of how unfathomably retarded the individual actually is.

moral indignation is not only not an argument, it's a clear indicator that you have none and don't believe you should have one

Yes, Saturday non the less! Saturn day! And sunday. Based on the Sun! Monday, the Moon! Ect, ect

yes, traditions are stupid

Because young people are dumb. Many Christians, like me, went through a period like that.

Saturday is named after the Roman god and planet Saturn.

What's Tuesday and Thursday?

And Thursday is named after the God Thor.

>le prodigal son meme
You're not a Christian, you're a fake jew like half of burgerland.

Today's kids have an easier time getting educated thanks to the internet, so they don't easily believe in fairy tales like you do.

By way of Spanish:
Monday - lunes - Moon
Tuesday - martes - Mars
Wednesday - miercoles - Mercury
Thursday - jueves - Jove - Jupiter
Friday - viernes - Venus

it's not tho? most teens and even adults still believe what their parents believe in since they can't think for themselves

Information is increasingly accessible in the modern era, and religion naturally falls out of favor when people have access to more information.

Kill yourself

Ok, but that's not English, I wanted the etymology for the English words. Though I do appreciate the information.

Thursday is Thor's day, you idiot.

Well, 100 years ago, when a kid tried to apply logic to religion and came out with an critical error he would go to their parents or grandparents and ask the questions. They would try to reply back the same indoctrination they received themselves and if that wasn't enough they'd send the poor lad to a priest who was trained in the arts of indoctrination.

Today? A kid has doubts so they google it and come out with two answers: a) You can't understand god, but you must have faith; and b) here's a scientific evidence why this is a total bullshit.

Which answer is more believable? You do the maths.

Atheism isn't "popular". It's not a "thing", like liking Miley Cyrus. Atheism is not believing in a huge dick among the clouds, a dick that can see everything and has a list of things it doesn't want you to do.

You should ask this instead; Why are so few young adults and teens not retarded nowadays, like they used to be?

If you're non religious are you automatically atheist?

Except that there's no scientific evidence that disproves the existence of God. Science and religion do not have to be mutually exclusive, and there are many many scientists that still believe in God. Kids just want to feel like they're better and smarter than their parents until they really grow up and start to understand the world from a truly adult point of view and appreciate what their parents had to do and sacrifice for them.

Also, a common way of indoctrination is saying "Everybody believe in god. Your mum does, your uncle does, the pope who is a very smart man does. How can they all be wrong?" Well... Internet gives you a sense of belonging. It shows you that you are not alone in your doubts. You are one among many, not one against the world like Christians would like you to think

Actually it is - those who identify as atheist have spiked and increased over the last few years, even in predominantly religious countries (the USA).

Show me on the doll where the priest touched you.

Yea, cause the santa-like space wizard idea sounds legit. It's written right there in the book that says that it's true.

> Why is Atheism so popular with young adults and teens?
Some people like being right about the number of gods there are. It's not for most people, though.

it's so obvious that atheists and theists alike have no real answers to life's meaningful questions

Your right - however what science does do is dispell the assumption which archaic individuals came up with to explain a purely non-answerable question.

The fact that there is also no signs or evidence should also get you to increase your skepticism; nice little not related point at the end - equation of sacrifices as somehow justifiable for believing fictional stories is a fallacy.

That's why I'm an nihilistic agnostic

You make a logical error. I don't have to prove to you that god doesn't exist. The burden of proof is all on you. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell's_teapot)

And every "evidence" of god Christians had over the years has been proven to be either impossible to verify or disproved completely. Hundreds of years ago people believed that thunder is the wrath of god, or that world was created in 7 days.

Science takes religion apart piece by piece and all Christians do is yell "but you cannot explain this or that so god is real, because how do you explain it if there is no god?" Well, I explain it by saying that if this is your argument than god is just the personification of ignorance that is getting smaller and smaller every year with each and every scientific discovery.

Straw man as fuck right there. I wasn't even arguing for religion, just giving a legitimate explanation for why a lot of young people leave the church and turn to atheism. Why are you so angry? Like seriously, I was the only person that gave a good explanation behind the emotions and reasoning that drive this phenomenon and you feel compelled to belittle me for something I didn't even say. Chill the fuck out bro, the whole point was to try to delve into the psyche of youth, not argue for or against religion.

Because the left commies have indoctrinated our children, the removal of the bible initiated the agenda to crusade against those who believe.

God will have his judgement against those who seek to impose the socialist agenda and to brainwash our children with fictional science.

John Dewey an his boyfriends invaded the public school system

T-T-T-T-THOT PATROLLED

Get a better religion dumbfuck, I am an existential postmodern wizard

Religion is based on faith, atheism, whether you like it or not, is also faith based. There's no proof either way, believe whatever you want, I don't have to prove shit.

because progress is in stages, generation of thing after generation of thing and useless things are left behind

Atheism is based on reason - that is, the ability to look at the the situation logically and base an assessment - religion is purely on the basis of faith; blind following without any evidence to justify its existence.

If science can break down religion so effectively, then it would have no problem answering the questions that religious people ask it to answer. Religion has already answered these questions, so the only remaining task is to propose arguments why science and other worldviews cannot answer them effectively.

Also this
>God is the personification of ignorcance

Let's see what Oxford dictionary has to say about it:
> Faith: Strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.
(en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/faith)

Can you see it? It's right there. Faith means discarding the proof so the belief can be preserved.

Because who needs a god when we can become one in a few hundred/thousand years?

Wednesday is also Wotan's day. As in the god Wotan.
Ignorant americans.

Evolution requires spontaneous generation, so it seems to me that it requires even more faith than religion. People have actually spent years studying evolution probably know that it is flawed, but the have some repressed prejudiced against religion. (ex. Richard Dawkins believes "Everything came out of nothing").

Evolution is just as much a religion as christianity, it isn't science anymore

You may also know Wotan by his non-Germanic name; Odin.

But this is the very problem.

1. Religions people have questions.
2. Science provides the answer.
3. Religious people come back with more questions
4. Science can't answer something
5. Religious people yell "Ha! You can't answer it so god is real!".
6. rinse and repeat

>implying Thor is not simply another face of Jove, aka Zeus
you're worse than a Christian, user. Keep your Abrahamic arrogance out of this.

>atheism, whether you like it or not, is also faith based
False. It's based on a default assumption, absent evidence to the contrary, that the case with the fewest special pleadings is the best approximation to truth that we have.

>because progress is in stages, generation of thing after generation of thing and useless things are left behind
Progress is just the atheist version of original sin. Knowledge has been discovered and lost many times over history and will continue to be so. In fact, almost everything we know today will fade into nothingness due to the ephemerality of electrons. I'll pass, thanks.

Did you really just subscribe to fucking cosmic humanism's punctuated equilibrium evoluton to godhood. when that shit happens tell me. Oh right it won't, because religion holds it back

>spontaneous generation
So if you take the number 666 and forget how to write because you have autism and accidentally get 696 you don't get a different number?

Not exactly, there are logical arguments for both sides if you take the time to find them, but there are no definitive answers. Therefore ascribing to either belief requires you to believe something that has at least some logical basis, but no actual proof. Atheism is a religion, just not necessarily an organized religion, and you're no better or smarter than anyone else just because you're going to Hell.

Except evolution can be tested - just needs the necessary environment and plenty of time.

It's not discarding proof, dipshit, it's believing without proof. You transcribed a definition and didn't even bother to read it.

I'm of course being metaphoric here. The autism represents nature copying DNA with errors except sometimes those errors make the animal grow large teeth so the DNA with the teeth lives longer and makes more DNA faster.
Can't tell if it's intelligent design because it's supposed to error or isn't.

Scientists were able to create organic molecules from inorganic molecules by replicating conditions on Earth before life existed.

If science cannot answer something than it has not completely broken religion down.

Example:
Religion asks "Where did I come from"
Science: "the big bang (Spontaneous generation)"
Religion: Then how do I know what is right or wrong?"
Science: "Too many questions! invalid argument!

Science lazy as fuck.

Most forms of atheism use evolution as their stance for cosmology. However, evolution requires spontaneous generation. In conclusion, you have to have faith in the big bang or whatever you call it. sorry buddy

Because God is as real as Santa is.

Autism makes you forget acquired skills?

Please explain what you mean by "spontaneous generation". Did you mean duplicate bits of DNA where one of them isn't even a copy but comes out different thusly making longer and different DNA?

Slow down there mister false analogy.

I am talking about spontaneous generation as it relates to matter arising from nothing.

What you are talking about is using ink to generate a pattern on paper.

Just a little different

What if autists have superpowers except their superpower is being able to forget acquired skills at will?

atleast science doesnt pretend to be able to answer all questions religion does, i'll choose truth over magic any day of the week.

> Most forms of atheism use evolution as their stance for cosmology. However, evolution requires spontaneous generation. In conclusion, you have to have faith in the big bang or whatever you call it. sorry buddy

No. Actually I can see the big bang with my own eyes: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmic_microwave_background

Can you look at your god?

Wait, are we talking cosmology or biology? Because if it's cosmology then there's anti-vacuum that you've probably never heard about but check it out if you put something in a vacuum it blows up.

No.. you miss the entire point, it is not a "belief" or faith if the evidence (scientifically) supports it, according to your own logic gravity is just a "belief' as there is "evidence" to the contrary - yeah no, laughable execution.

Atheism is a religion like grass is water; they are neither - contrasts for entirely different uses and purposes.

Religious folk (such as yourself) simply like to categorise atheism as a religion as if provides some affirmation about "faith" (your subjective faith being correct).

Logical on the religious side is based on you own naive perception; because as they have no literal evidence scientifically they resort to metaphorical assumptions which bare no basis in reality.

These threads are just as bad as the logs of shit ones. Nothing unique, the same 3 faggots posting them, etc, etc...

Because there is no god.
You're welcome.

I mean that there had to be a source for evolution. So without a God, that source has to be some random generation of matter which was able to start evolution.

If everything came from one cell, where did the cell come from?

Pretty much the only answer other than a creator is random spontaneous generation.

that is what I mean

Sounds like we just started a "pick a superpower and others impose dumb restrictions on it" thread.

That cell came from a multitude of other, smaller cells - which is.. the process of evolution.

because we dying and what happens after death isn't constantly on our minds.

Made in his image so all I need is a mirror bb

Big philosophical thought bomb coming.

(ignoring the straw man)

You seem to be putting full FAITH in science, and essentially claiming "Science knows best"

How does science account for evil in the world... How does science determine a moral code to live by. Some things just are not reducible to the facts of science. So if science is your only tool against religion, you need to upgrade your arsenal instead of hiding behind one thing like your mothers skirts.

>Made in his image so all I need is a mirror bb

In other words no?

Mother fucker where did that multitude of other cells come from. I used the cell as an example.

you can't say evolution has infinite sources. (Unless you are cosmic humanist, but even then your probably still grasping, so Idk)

It's called abiogenesis.

Really? I thought it was a strawman even though it smells like a red herring.

Good job - you asked a generic, nothing to the original point question - thanks for backing up my statement.

Except it doesn't even attempt to answrr those questions. It knows that it can't approach it systematically, so it focuses on things that are more specific and less existential like how to specifically target the inhibition of one enzyme to help fight a disease. Science is an approach to getting good information about things that are currently observable, real science doesn't even attempt to answer religious questions because it has no way to approach it.

because of weather apps

If the ability to physically see your god is what validates it's existence, then my penis is a God. Whatever my penis wants, is thus an acceptable moral code.

your logic can be used to justify whatever I want :^). Relative truth is so fun

More parents have stopped forcing religion down their kids throats. I plan to do the same and let my kid go their own way on that regard

>Why is Atheism so popular with young adults and teens?

The most important reason:

People want to appear in a good light to their peers.

Exactly. People always make those stupid fucking straw mans and if you don't agree with them down to the letter you're just "A fucking christfag"

No I'm not, those other cells came from the gases, protons, neutrons and neutrinos which existed a second after the big bang - these are the main building blocks.

Before you ask "where did they come from?" Science doesn't have a solid argument as to where - however religion seems to think they do, which makes science even the more wise for admitting they do not know - the same cannot be said for religion.

I smell so many fishy amines every day I wouldn't even be able to smell a red herring anymore.

How fucking empty does your mind have to be for this simple ass concept to go over your head. Be careful with your wikipedia information darling, Abiogenesis is a convoluted mess that could be discredited by 11th grader

Because traditionalism is apparently very unpopular with teens and young adults, well into adulthood, in fact, if hookup sex culture and rising divorces is enough.

Well... seeing something right in front of you kinda helps with the credibility, don't you think?

>You don't believe in god? Look, he is right there.
See? Helpful. Instead you tell me:

>God exists. I have no proof, but I have faith. I don't care the burden of proof is on me because I choose to believe and you have to prove me wrong.

...

You need the Bibble.

u mad bro

...

It's not young people who are choosing atheism, it's the old faggots choosing to believe that babies die because some ancient dickhole ate an apple.

Dog, it doesn't take a philosopher to see that spontaneous generation is the source of the earth through an atheistic view. But most atheists do not deny that it is.

ex. RIchard Dawkins -- "something came out of nothing"

If you want to be a contradictory fractal of info, who attacks everything, I recommend joining the postmoderns, although they would haze you.

honestly not sure, my mother was not religious so it literally was never a factor for me, so why start now?

So how many of you noticed that Atheists in this thread are nice and try to provide evidence to support their claims and Christians default to insult if they can't find a constructive arguments?

Will it function as a respirator?

...
