15 has really grown on me lately, I still have a soft spot for 8 overall.
If I had to pick it is a hard tie between 6 or 7.
Mind you I did not play 8, 9,14,15
What's the best track off FF15 or some of the "hits"
I'm pretty skeptical of post-Nobuo Final Fantasy, but 13 had great battle music so I'm still open.
FF BRAVE EXVIUS for mobile has some really good songs for my taste.
Otherworld obviously
I hope you're not being ironic cuz that shit is dank. Ballsy for them to start their game off with weeb metal.
Im dead serious its incredible
Agree, I liked that video too.
Auron rocks!.
Still my morning alarm.

Bro I compose with pizzicato all the time because of this. This is pizzicato porn.
I particularly like "Rodeo de Chocobo".

VI or XII

I mean you can't go wrong with the chocobo theme, and this is a very nice rendition, probably the best ever, but what would you say is the best original composition from the game?
it's IX you morons. IT'S 9 YOU MORONS
"Stand your ground", I can't get tired of it.
For my taste, much better than FF7 regular battle theme.
"A quick stop" when lurking The Crow's nest is also timeless :D
I love pizzicato porn

Dudes, I wish my car's mechanic was as in FF15.....
First one reminds me of Ice Climbers from Melee, which is not a bad thing:

"Stand your Ground" is good. I might have to take more listens, but it's not as thematic as I was hoping. I like the progression and the sense of urgency. It sucks that the battle music bar has been set so high, so it might just be me comparing.
Try with Nox Aeterna then
7 and 8 are too good
Even the deep cuts are great
FFMQ had great music. Simple game but the music made me complete it.
FF6 soundtrack gives me the most feels.
7, but 14 is a hot contender.
Another song that touches my heart is FF8 Laguna's battle song "The man with the machine gun".
Love 7 but 9's music just tops it .

I dunno... it sounds like somebody trying to do an impression of Nobuo. It's not very melodic. Big chords and kind of placeholder progressions. Sort of a curse of modern vg music. Nothing stands out. I'm sure it fits very well in the game, but it's not focused as a listening experience. Kind of a mess, which hurts because I want to like it so badly. It just seems like, at some point, video game music stopped being something we're meant to pay attention to. It doesn't need to carry a game as much these days because the graphics and story are so complex in current generations. Music seems like an afterthought, whereas back in the Zelda: A Link to the Past and Sonic the Hedgehog days, they really had to come up with something good that worked. Every tune had to have a hook or chorus that felt like a melody that was slaved over. I wish they applied that thinking today. This just seems like the director said "I need something dramatic" and the composer just ran with it. It seems very far removed from classical composition. I wish I had good things to say, but this seems to be the case for 99% of games these days. Really upsets me.
breezy balamb for comfiest tune

In case of me getting tired of any, I carry a lot of them on my mobile.
Just a few here.
9 is Nobuo's favorite too
Probably, it happens to me that I eared it on the game and fitted, that's why I like it.
It's not a bad song, simply Uematsu set the bar too high. I keep Uematsu at my heart, but I don't allow him to make me dislike other songs.
I miss him, thought. Lately he is with the FF Orchestral show and not making good music for games.
What about this one?:
These two tracks are probably the most focused and complex compositions in Nobuo Uematsu's catalogue:

Thanks that's cheered me up massively for some odd reason. Going to go for a drive with Black mage village on full blast later.
No it's not bad. It's great actually. It's amazing that they even payed an orchestra to play it live instead of hiring some jack off to do it in his studio. Everything I've heard so far from the new soundtracks are great, but for some reason they are always missing a lead or a clear melody that could be transposed to any instrument. For me that's the mark of a good tune is that you can imagine it being played in different contexts. I gotta say it's miles beyong Halo or any of those POS FPS games that basically pay their composers peanuts because they know nobody cares.
FFXI will always be the soundtrack that I remember.
What do you think about "Blue Dragoon - Advacing grounds"?
15 is good for pure orchestral, and the somnis theme. 10 is best overall IMO
You're not alone from FFIX is one of my favorites.
Oh, I now understand what do you mean.
The lack of a "central theme" melody that can be recogniced within all the soundtrak songs.
Certainly, I can't remember of any case of this in recent games I have played.
Fuck yeah. Tune is dancy af.
XIV has some of the greatest tracks, not to mention XI had some as well
Just YT "Fossil Roo" from FF9.
Tune is going to stick in your head for hours without escape.
Nobuo is a genius.
I like 8. Still have a soft spot for Eyes on Me.
Dancing Mad from 6 is still the best piece of music of the 16 bit Era.
the gilgamesh theme from FFV is a close 2nd

>Still have a soft spot for Eyes on Me.
I love it too. I'm gay as well, user. Good melody and great counterpoint. Nobuo could probably write Disney music in his sleep if he wanted to.

Anything other than 7 is trash.
Every single song accurately triggers the correct emotional response that the scene is portraying.
You listen to any other ff soundtrack and it's just a bunch of random classical music.
youtube.com
This song triggers a very correct emotional response in me.
I don't think how a piece works in the context of its game is a good way to measure the merits of a composition, and even if it was, I think you're being extreme in saying that. You're trying to trigger me and it's working.
I think it's a very important part of video game and movie music actually.
This shit is so brilliantly composed, it's almost a crime it's in a video game about a time-traveling faggot water soccer player with the mind of a child.
>music doesn't matter as long as it's upbeat with lots of WUBS
This is a perfect example of why I'm much smarter than you.
I'm onto you.
Good strawman. I guess this thread would devolve eventually :(
I think 8 is my favorite. The game was awful, but all the music and art saved it.
FF1
>Good Strawman
>Desperately tries to undermine the best soundtrack in the entire ff franchise
You should feel bad for being a hipster who denies great works of art.
you got the job, user. When can you start?
That file name though
