I believe incorporating technology and government is the way forward. The standard leader-people principle is getting outdated. It would be best if there was some sort of supercomputer running things. But since that is still far too futurist, I would settle with some sort of large, central council that consists of people who've proven themselves to be worthy of statesmanship through education, or, of course, technocrats, scientists, engineers, doctors, who decide what is best to do in their field. I don't believe they should have absolute power like the Politburo, there should be a distinct trias politica.

There are many different kind of communists. I believe one the highest necessities for it to work is a high IQ population. I also do not inherently believe that all social and political systems currently existing needs to be smashed and destroyed. I think we will eventually transition to a communist society with automation anyway. But I would rather have a government that fully acknowledges this and focuses towards that goal (full automation, space exploration, education for all, a little bit like Star Trek.)
Also, it's something that can't be tied to a single country, or it will inherently fail amidst the presence of much more productive capitalist countries. Communism is an international ideology.
