Underrated Post Punk Chart

Making a chart for underrated post punk/new wave albums, make suggestions and I'll add them
No Chameleons or The Sound, we all know them and the meme isn't that funny :/

Republika - Nieustanne tango

greatest Polish post-punk album, up there with the best of the genre

Chameleons, The Sound, Metabolist

>inb4 someone calls U2 post-punk
that meme needs to die

rateyourmusic.com/release/album/u2/war/
rateyourmusic.com/release/album/u2/october/
rateyourmusic.com/release/album/u2/boy/

Glaxo Babies - Put Me On The Guest List
Ut - Conviction
Various artists - Mutant Disco
ESG - Come Away with ESG

U2 - joshua tee

no. go away

call of the west by wall of voodoo is better

U2 - October

books.google.co.uk/books?id=M4cWDAAAQBAJ&pg=PA187&dq=u2 "post-punk"&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjm2N-g5YTWAhWBI8AKHTHRBPIQ6AEILzAC#v=onepage&q=u2 "post-punk"&f=false

added
fuck off mate
they were for a little while, they started in the same scene as the virgin prunes iirc
glaxo babies are already on there but added the other 3, good picks
Call of the West is amazing but it's more synth pop than Dark Continent

U2 - Joshua Tree

...

pop rock isn't post punk
>revivalshit
no thx

...

...

if you have no interest in post-punk revival then i have no interest in this thread. simple as that

Кинo (Чёpный aльбoм) by Кинo is absolutely essential

open.spotify.com/user/jackfella78-us/playlist/2D1f8DKFwlPAnzZIP3boB5

...

Kino is basically the russian U2, don't see how they're underrated

yeah it's famous but it's still underrated because it's fucking brilliant not 'good'

...

great albums, added
not sure how underrated these guys are but I'll add them for now
99% of revival bands are just ripoffs (Bloc Party ripped off Long Fin Killie, LCD Soundsystem ripped off New Order, The Rapture is James Chance, The National is JAMC and so on). The only good post punk bands from the 00's are Xiu Xiu and Iceage imo

Republika are one of the most famous Polish post-punk bands with Kult and Siekiera

>Young Marble Giants
>underrated
lel

>>Young Marble Giants
>>underrated
>lel
this

yes, but it's not like Polish post-punk/coldwave is well known outside of Poland. Besides, one album constantly reccommended is the debut, but the sophomore Nieustanne tango is clearly superior and much more well realised.

What about Liars?

Бyepaк - Taнцы Пo Pacчётy
Šarlo Akrobata - Bistriji ili tuplji čovek biva kad...
Pekinška Patka - Strah od monotonije

...

>The National ripped off JAMC
>The only good post punk bands from the 00's are Xiu Xiu and Iceage

Those are some retarded opinions

I think this is fairly well known, but I rarely see it mentioned on Sup Forums

>The only good post punk bands from the 00's are Xiu Xiu and Iceage imo
Alrighty, since you apparently know more about post-punk than I do (and since you think that LCD Soundsystem is a post-punk revival band), I guess I'll stop helping.

>The National is JAMC
are you fucking high

forgot about them cause they've sucked since sisterworld but yeah They were wrong and Drums Not Dead are great too

added
really great album, added
I don't like this album that much but i know it is well regarded, I'll add it
also, 00's dance punk is a form of post punk revivalism + a lot of the new LCD album sounds exactly like New Order (Call the Police especially sounds like Procession)
They sound like post Darklands JAMC not Psychocandy
I'll never be able to find these albums on topsters lol

>I'll never be able to find these albums on topsters lol
yes you will you fucking retard
also au pairs is a popular and shitty band

I actually did just find them so you're right about that
Au Pairs aren't that good in my eyes but they're hardly popular outside of the post punk crowd. If something else comes along Ill take it out

>The Scars
>"The"

I don't make the album titles, it fills in automatically when you add an album and sometimes they're slightly wrong

if Au Pairs is too "mainstream" then addLife By the Sea is a pretty good track

oh wow so you're too lazy to make the chart yourself, that's really cool

oh wow you were wrong and don't want to admit it, that's special

ok listening now and it's pretty good, a bit like And Also The Trees
that would take ages

>that would take ages
it would take a few seconds actually

I use neverendingchart
Besides I don't think anyone besides you seems to care all that much, it really isn't a big deal

Young Marble Giants aren't underrated

Normil Hawaiians - More Wealth Than Money
The Ex - Catch My Shoe
The Momes - Spiralling
Patricio Rey y Sus Redonditos de Ricota - Oktubre
Rema-Rema - Wheel In The Roses

Dolly Mixture is post-punk you fuckers
Some of The Falls easrly stuff would be good as well (Grotesque or Live at the Witch Trails)
Cut by The Slits as well

The Del-Byzanteens - Lies to Live By

>the fall
>underrated
The Slits should probably be in there
One of the greatest covers ever, I used to play this to really fuck people off.
youtube.com/watch?v=S4cXsdITRgU

i can't wait until the chart is over so i can listen to these album bros
also above the ruins-songs of the wolf is an ok album, but my opinion may be biased bc i love sol invictus

Well I know The Fall aren't underrated but y'know, it's The Fall. Any chance to discuss them is good in my book

zvuki mu - krim
daisuck & prostitute - that one album with the surrealist painting on a white background

forgot about rema rema, so so good
the ex as well
I'll check the other stuff out
Dolly mixture is post punk enough for me so I'll add them
The Fall aren't underrated enough but the Slits are a good pick
added

updated chart

post punk outside the main charts is interesting at times.I say at times because most bands end up making B or C tier albums

but it will be interesting to see and much more if there are no meme or troll suggestions

I've personally heard most of those albums so I can assure that these are good records. I can't speak for any polish artists though, never got too into that scene

A.R Kane -69
is quite late (1986), and a hipster accessory by now, but they were underrated for a long time.

as much as I love AR Kane I don't really consider them to be post punk. They fall more into that early post rock grey area with bands like The Durutti Column where they aren't quite post punk but it's too early for them to be associated with post rock

My Dad Is Dead
And Also the Trees
Comsat Angels

23 Skidoo - Seven Songs
Minimal Man - Safari
Pink Industry - Who Told You, You Were Naked?

Кaзмa-Кaзмa - Пляcки тpyбaдypoв

added
I hesitated to add 7 songs when i made the chart cause I thought Scaruffi made them too popular, so I just waited to see if anyone brought them up

looked these guys up and they're absolutely bizzare. I wouldn't call it post punk but I highly recommend it to anyone in this thread

Alternative TV - The Image Has Cracked

it's refreshing when the person making these isn't some dilettante that takes every half-assed suggestion for a chart to be forgotten a week from now

can i add Vibing Up The Senile Man instead? I really love that album
thanks

>Vibing Up The Senile Man instead
sure. I just wanna see them represented

chart is full, thanks everyone who contributed

The albums on here I've heard are all great to amazing, so I hope the rest live up!
i ended up just going with image has cracked cause I think more people like it, I don't think Senile Man is as good even if I like it more

...

normally, the thing about these threads is that they are very little serious

I can confirm by myself that Lowlife and Wall of Voodoo are a worth check(I may disagree with the Foetus album though) and fit there but it would be neat some criticism if they actually deserved to be there

Feels a little arbitrary but I'm saving it

m.youtube.com/watch?v=9N1nlh8iC4I

I think a song of those albums would create some interest on why they are there

I've said it before but for anyone to check it out

currently making a playlist with songs from these albums

so I made a playlist with songs either from these albums or from the artist when the album wasn't available. Not everything is on it cause spotify has a really weak post punk selection outside of big artists

I have some other playlists for similar genres that you guys might like too

open.spotify.com/user/jackmorgan8/playlist/04L8gc0oZgKgOorN2537d8

>Not everything is on it cause spotify has a really weak post punk selection outside of big artists

then yes,it's a sign that they fit in the underground

I would've gone with Moody for my ESG pick.

good chart.

page 1 for anyone to see it
