Americans are used to being in the center of averyone's attention; it's THEIR shit that gets dubbed and aired in other countries, not the other way around.
When forced to watch a single piece of footage that was produced in another country, Americans feel that their own national identity is under threat.

This is being played every night during primetime on the main networks in the US. This commercial takes place in Shanghai and features only Asian people.
Commercials are expensive, and with the US becoming more multi-cultural every day expect this to continue. Why shoot regional commercials when you can just tweak the same one for individual markets?
I hear a lot of British accents in commercials for cleaning products during the daytime. It's gotten to the point where people have associated Britishness with cleanliness.
One telling thing about that Apple commercial: it shows how strong the Asian-American buying power is today.
