What is the best song from this and why is it Holiday? Also, discuss Green Day

...

It's Jesus of Suburbia. Also their best song in general (and AI is their best album).

Not a band song on their first four albums.

Uhh do you mean bad?

The main singer is such a banana

Solid hot take

Holiday is Green Day's best single

American Idiot is a geninelly amazing album.

Best song would either be "Jesus Of Suburbia" or "Homecoming"

Wouldn't call it Amazing, but it has some awesome parts. It's a guilty pleasure album for me

Jesus of surbububi

I honestly don't see it as a guilty pleasure, I see it as at least great album, there is nothing to be guilty off when listening to American Idiot, there isn't really any weak track on there and it is probably Green Day at their best.

After this they went down really hard, Revolution Radio seems to be taking some steps in the right directions at least.

Niggas u trippin

Its obvious Letterbomb

As I Said I like parts of it, but there are a lot of parts I don't like. Would you rank it among your top albums of all time?

I don't think I've ever seen on Sup Forums seriously arguing otherwise. It's the peak of over the top mid-00s punk

> Would you rank it among your top albums of all time?
It is more like in top 100 somewhere, I do believe it is an amazing album, but it's not nowhere near my top five. I like a lot of albums.

>guilty pleasure

imagine being this insecure on Sup Forums

Guilty pleasure? Underage clearly. Quit being insecure

thank you

Maybe that was the wrong word to use. It's a flawed album I like despite recognizing the apparent flaws. And yes, you will get judged if you have this as a favourite

Warning is a better album than AI

>And yes, you will get judged if you have this as a favourite

Once again, imagine being this weirdly insecure. Just say you like albums if you like them. Don't play this weird 'oh no, but what will people say, better downplay it' game.
It's cringe.

>It's cringe.
I wouldn't call it cringe, the user is just too scared to admit to this, it is true that people on Sup Forums will probably call you underrage and other things if you put a Green Day album on your favorite list, considering how controversial the band is to certain people, like to the fans of punk.
He just needs to learn how to accept liking things and not be bothered by insults from other people, that's all.

Misery is a great underrated track

This isn't Letterbombmah nigga

What is the best song from this album and why is it Macy's Day Parade?

Give me a Novacaine is by far the best song on the album, and one of the best in the green day repertoire

That's not even the case though, people are fine with people liking American Idiot. Sup Forums has always had a soft spot for this album. Same with most other places that discuss music.

If you like Aqua or Venga Boys or something, yeah maybe that's a guilty pleasure, but don't show false modesty because you like one of the biggest rock albums of the 00s.

1,039 Smooth out Slappy hours: fantastic start
Kerplunk: more up graded version of 1039.
Dookie: Objectively the best album
Insomniac:my fav album (tied with 1039 SOSH
Nimrod:A more experimental album. good
Warning:Warning>nimrod
American idiot: back in the spotlight. there is not a dull moment
:21CB:It feels like they did american idiot over again. there is some good cuts on here(murder city, christians inferno, american eulogy, static age ect.) there is some bad cuts.

iUNO!:a mess
iDOS!:a turd
iTRES!: ok
Rev rad: pretty good actually
Best american idiot song:letterbomb/whatsername

Misery
Cool

>Tell me, Jimmy, I won't feel a thing

Extraordinary Girl is the most underrated track, though.

Because it's a bad song

This is the ultimate "takes me back" album.
Boulevard was always my favorite; as overused as that chord progression is I always love it.
Jesus of Suburbia and Homecoming were also great just for how ambitious they were.
CITY OF THE DEEEEEAD

AND I LEAVE BEEHIND
THIS HURRICADE OF FUCKING LIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

it's a good song but those bongos at the start are really bad

Homecoming's better imo

chorus is weak on this one, but I like the overall structure.

Can we all agree that American Idiot has the best vocals from Green Day ever?
It was hard getting back into Dookie, the vocals seem really off at first.
Like Billie Joe wants to desperately sound deeper than his voice actually is, or something, I can't put my finger on it, it sounds really off compared to his performance in this album.

What do y'all think I'd their best album?

but the notes aren't even low notes, it is pretty medium range

most definitely. It's their most ambitious by far. Dookie is great but I dont think anyone likes it for the vocals

I enjoy the PMV of that song on the hub of porn.

No, the vocals are one of the biggest problems

*Is

American Idiot
Yeah, I think it's the best vocally, too.

>Letterbomb
Holiday and Jesus are way better than Letterbomb. It's third best at most.
Dookie is better than Warning imo

It's polished, but not soft like on 21st Century Breakdown
It still has a punk feel to it despite being as polished as it is
And his voice has definitely matured from Warning

green day more like green gay gotem

I avoided this band for the longest time because of the general reputation and the popular=bad mentality, but I'm glad I got over that phase. I really appreciate nice pop tunes, and Green Day does have a bunch of them.

fool ass, best song is Waiting. don't deny yourself the pleasure of Waiting any longer.

>bongos

they're tablas you pleb

Are We Waiting doesn't get enough of love.
Also, Google Play's version is retarded, just look at this shit. They are supposed to be their own seperate tracks that transition into each other.
It's always great to appreacite the more obsecure bands, but many then make the mistake of throwing away stuff like Green Day, when there is literally nothing lost when you hold on to both.

forgot picture

You need to Wake Up to the fact that Macy's Day is the best, Satisfaction Guaranteed
That hurt to type I apologise

because it does not sound good

It's similar to Extraordinary Girl in that it just feels like kinda filler-y
It's pretty okay live tho

Spotify's lumps a bunch of them together too. The worst is the Extraordinary GIrl/Letterbomb combo.
And Are We the Waiting is pretty decent. I like the verses more than the chorus.

The song simply exists to build up St Jimmy

*Cough*

American Idiot is pretty good, but has anyone here actually watched/listened to the musical version? I personally don't care for most of the songs. (Save for The Last Night on Earth. That song makes me cry like a bitch, and I don't know why.)

I tried it, it is pretty weak and I am not a big fan how they potrayed the songs into musical version, a lot of songs lack the intensity they did in the album version, the story also becomes kidn of weird and confused in the musical while in the album it is pretty easy to get

this came on spotify the other day and I was reminded how hilariously bad this and foxoboro hot tubs were as 'secret' side projects

The music was good but how could anyone not recognise that as billy

Are their any albums like this? With the epic story and all and memorable story. Preferably something less cheesy and maybe more diverse

I thought it was tongue-in-cheek.
Billy's insults towards "The Network" are pretty funny too.

It's fine but everything is very forced. Rather than being a kinda punky snarly album it turns into 'DON'T WANNA BE AN AMERICAN IDIOT :DD!'

I rep them highly for putting like favourite son and shoplifter in there though. quality b sides.

Pink Floyd - The Wall
Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral

*Coughs a little louder*

What about Shenanigans? I'm actually a really big fan of this album. Personal favorite is Desensitized, probably because it's the first song I heard from Shenanigans.

daily reminder that do da da and stuck with me's songs titles got switched around for fuck knows how reasons and now they're stuck that way

>discuss greenday

Anyone who shits on GD, has not seen them live. It's really that simple to me. 10/10 performances

I GOT A KID IN NEW YOOIRJKKKK

I love Green Day unashamedly. They're so fucking good and surprisingly consistent.

39/Smooth: Billie Joe's vocals often disappear into the background vocals and the drumming can be a bit wonky at times, but the songwriting is a lot better than given credit for.

Kerplunk: I don't think it's as much better than 39/Smooth as most people seem to, because the drumming is still a tad wonky and the songwriting is the same, but it is an improvement because Billie Joe's voice stepped up a lot.

Dookie: Fucking perfect album.

Insomniac: Just as perfect as Dookie, and such an underrated album

Nimrod: A bit bloated, but there's still a lot of classic Green Day songs and a lot more variety, even if a few songs aren't as great.

Warning: Definitely one of their poppiest releases, but the songs are so good. Warning is one of their most consistent releases along with Insomniac.

Shenanigans: It's got some good songs but most of them are just okay.

American Idiot: Fucking flawless album. Probably my favorite album ever.

21st Century Breakdown: Bloated, but the good songs are really good. The stadium rock influence is really prrevalent throughout.

Uno: Production is cleaner than One Direction, but some songs are really fun

Dos: Same as Uno. Production is too clean, but a lot of fun songs.

Tre: Production is still too clean, but this time most of the songs are kinda boring, Easily their worst album.

Revolution Radio: Production is better than trilogy (guitars are back), but it still is too bland for rock production. Bang Bang is dope, but most of the album doesn't stick out in any way. It's the only Green Day album with very few risks taken.
