Most are spending their time working hard to be able to live. It may be urbanized but that hasn't changed anything. It's a rat race. No time for being a little sadboi NEET making indie folk music in rural Michigan.

pretty much this. they live in a a highly competitive society where most people live like fucking slaves. also don't forget about censorship there, people are only allowed to listen to what the government wants them to. that severely hinders creatives. looking at other east asian countries, south korea is more liberal in terms of freedom of expression that's why stuff like kpop is allowed to exist but they are being treated like insects too. if you think about it, a kpop industry is the only thing that would make sense in the hyper capitalist society they live in thanks to ameriturds. japan treats its people the best way, even if it's still way too harsh compared to western standards, that's why we see a lot of western influenced acts popping up there.
it boils down to most of asia not really valuing art because they are too busy being exploited.
gooks are all the same and they lack the self-awareness and creativity required to make art
