I'm a stupid American and the only soccer/futbol/football players I knew growing up were Pele and David Beckham and I always assumed they were Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan, and Wayne Gretzky tier GOATS.

Im trying to get into soccer. So where do they really rank?

>Im trying to get into soccer.
Don't bother, it's literally shit.

Pele is in the discussion of GOAT's.

Go wacht eggball.

Pele was undisputed GOAT at least until Maradona. Old people who saw him still consider him GOAT but the superior knowledge of Sup Forums declares him to be shit.

Beckham was a legit good player in his time but not a GOAT by any stretch.

pele is GOAT

beckham is a meme

if you want to get into soccer watch liverpool games. theyre the greatest team on the planet

Pele = Roger Staubach

Beckham = Boomer Esiasan

>liverpoo
LOL

Pele is one of the GOATs, arguable if he is the true GOAT though.

Beckham was a very good player, world class at his peak, but never truly a GOAT. The level of marketing he had around him made you think he was a GOAT.

btw just watch Bayern they're the team that winslol so it's easy for a casual

Pele = The Beatles

Beckham = Oasis

Pele was probably the first player who could be considered the GOAT. He's probably been displaced in that the best players of today are better than he was, although it's difficult to compare them directly because the level of training has generally improved so naturally the quality of players would have also improved. His greatest achievement is winning three World Cups for his country.

Beckham was a great player, although his popularity stems from his brand rather than his footballing abilities. His greatest achievement is a free kick against Greece in the qualifying stages of the World Cup.

Pelé is one of the top 5 players of all time.

Beckham is famous for marrying the worst Spice.

but he didn't marry Ginger

Stupid sexy Beckham

>either
>worst spice
either of the Mels. Nigger spice has sunk below chav spice as time has gone on.

>these are 10s in bongland

pele is undeniable top 3 all time

beckham is well liked and was a good player for a number of years, but isn't considered close to the best english player, let alone greatest of all time

Does Vitoria have a dick? I don't see why Beckham would like a girl who could pass for a not so good looking latina.

How does someone know about Beckham but not know about Ronaldo?

Ronaldo is not marketed here at all. Has he ever even been on an American Late Night Show?

Beckham has been on more American commercials, probably

Pele is an overrated old chimp.

Beckham is a celebrity, he wasn't that good at football.

>i rank bobby charlton

Beckham was good 1999 to 2002. He'd gone to shit by the time he signed for Real Madrid

Beckham was overrated for a while but the backlash at him being overrated before has actually made him underrated now. He was excellent, not GOAT tier or anything but a great player. These days you'll see edgy fags saying he was average but it's just not true.

Beckham was definitely an above average player in his prime, but he was never world class obviously and did not deserve that much fame based on his footballing skills.

But he was/is handsome and married a Spice Girl, so he still was valuable for the clubs he was playing for as far as shirt sales goes.

This. Young Beckham would shit in the head of any Mongrel Alli kind of player

faggot

Pele is an oldie from the paleolithic, Dr.Zeuss do Nascimento jr the III. He wouldn't survive 90min. in a modern football game.

Beckham was the best underwear ads salesman and that's about it.

Ofc he wouldn't. You should give all the hgh and shit like that to make a fair judgment. And you should give equal conditions that Pelé had to those crybabies from nowadays.

That makes Pirlo Blur

Who do ya prefer? Oasis or blur?

I don't think I've ever seen such a great description of Pele desu

Both the Beatles and Pele are seen by children just getting into the subject of Music/Football as the GOAT and old baby boomers will never back down and say that there are players/artists that were better than them.

But putting Pele on the same level as the Beatles is a semi-insult.

Pele is like top 5 all time if we don't count era.

Some autists on Sup Forums and muslims on youtube/facebook might try and say Cristiano Ronaldo is GOAT, but he probably just breaks into the top 10 all time.

The real debate of GOAT is between Messi and Maradona and literally the only thing Maradona has over Messi is international achievements.

GOAT list goes

1=Messi
1=Maradona
3. Fat Ronaldo
4. Pele
5. Cruyff
6. Di Stefano
7. Muller
8. Best
9. Puskas
10. Iniesta

Excuse me but where is Pulisic???

and at the same time none of the current players would be able to finish a game in Pele's era. Theyd be stretchered off and would never want to touch the ball again

great list tbqh

best would have been a jobber in today's game tho

Holly shit, I more or less agree with a leaf talking about football

spe rates iniesta way too high.

If a career similar to his made people like Di Stefano, Best and people like that go into history, then I can say with no doubt Messi is GOAT and Fatnaldo the only relevant thing after him in the last 30 years

>sp overrating fat ronnie

Love the guy but let's face it, due to his iinjuries he'll remain a perennial "what could have been". Romario played for longer, scored more goals, and won a WC also. Plus, no trannies.

Beckham was a really good player, captained England, but became a celebrity for things outside of football

>complains sp overrates ronaldo
>talks about romario

Romario had two good years at PSV and one very good at Barcelona, and tha'ts all. And he was not better at his prime than the best Ronaldo after the injuries.

Pre-injuries Fatnaldo had already a best career than Romario.

>B-but playing against hues and literally who from Santo Flumingense do Spiritu Santo is relevant
no

fatnaldo is the Brazilian Ronaldo right?

This. His maniacal pursuit of celebrity and social status led to him becoming shit tier real quick (So glad he's been exposed as the cunt he is).

>So glad he's been exposed as the cunt he is

isn't he more popular than ever?

>But he was/is handsome
Only until you hear him speak.

Pele is either #2 or #3 all time behind Messi and maybe Maradona.

Beckham was one of the better midfielders of his generation, and possibly the best dead ball specialist of his generation, but was/is more famous for his looks than his football.

>1999-2002

I'm old enough to remember that CL quarterfunal back then where Man Utd was ridiculed by Real Madrid at Old Trafford. Beckam was good at passing and absolute shit in every other aspect of the game. He was absourdly slow and couldn't 1v1 to save his life.

Mcmanaman was a much more complete winger than the spice boy would ever dream of. But it was the age of big publicity stunts and sell merchandising to football illiterates in China, Murica and etc

> Cafu last one in notable tier
> when he is clearly extraordinary tier and arguable great tier

>raul
>drogba
>Roberto Carlos

Remove these and you got a decent list

Should be pretty obvious at this point

I am actually Ok with this.

where would you rank Scholes?

obviously below lampard and gerrard

Pele has 3 World Cups, undoubtedly the greatest international player of all time. Considered by some to many to be the best player of all time.

Beckham won the treble win Man Utd and was perhaps their best player that season (came second in the Ballon d'or that year).

Where is zizu?

And Iniesta? Really? Greay player, but not on goat player.

anyone who says pele is GOAT is a fucking spastic

Pele is considered GOAT by more people than any other player. Diego Maradona is the only player that is seriously considered as a potential GOAT besides Pele. I guess it seems like Maradona's GOAT claim has gotten stronger over the years, he retired 20 years ago and it takes a long time for anyone to seriously acknowledge GOAT claims. For example, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are both currently being talked about as potential GOATs but because they're still playing nobody really mentions them as actual GOATs yet.

David Beckham was a very good player but never considered GOAT level by anybody. His celebrity is based partly on his quality as a player but also his media personality; he married one of the biggest female celebrities of the mid-to-late 90s and made career decisions that were based equally on business and pure footballing reasons. He also comes across as the sort of person that it's hard to dislike, he is perceived as extremely hard working as he put many more hours in on the training ground than his peers, he spent the majority of his career at the two biggest-supported clubs in the world, played over 100 matches for England as well as captaining them for many of those matches, and according to many females is a very good looking man. I think it's admirable in a way that he managed to make the most of a great natural ability that definitely doesn't quite put him on the level of Pele, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, Cruyff, etc etc.

What's funny about Beckham Is that everyone on Sup Forums looks at him as a meme player. When really he was always pretty good. Then his fame made him sound better then he really was which eventually led to people dismissing him as a meme which made people forget he actually was good. Just not quite as good as his reputation said he was.

That's harsh, Beckham was a pretty good player!

As soon as he left manure for halal, he lost his knighthood

I'd say he just about sneaks into the top ten best players for Man United, and only because C Ronaldo and others didn't really stay long enough there to merit inclusion:

Duncan Edwards
George Best
Ryan Giggs
Peter Schmeichel
Eric Cantona
Bobby Charlton
Brian Kidd
Roy Keane
Bryan Robson
David Beckham

>he doesn't rate Matthews

Right, I'll never forgive McClaren for dropping him from the England squad just to make his shitty point.

He will be knighted at some point in the future, but it's probably 10-20 years away yet.

Cristiano Ronaldo played for Manchester United for 6 seasons and you don't include him. Eric Cantona played for Manchester United for 5 seasons, featuring a 7 month ban, and you do include him.

Iniesta is, in many ways, far superior to Le fancy flick berber.

International achievements are a meme.

If we talk about the best scorers of all time nobody is going to say Klose. Things need perspective.

t. teenager
I bet you are the ones discarding Led Zeppelin because it is "daddy rock"

1 - Pelé
2 - Maradona
3 - Crujyff
4 - Puskas
5 - Di Steffano
6 - Messi
