It's not masturbatory, it's just that I know there's millions of artists out there, and I'd rather discover several new artists every single day than put the handful of popular artists on repeat just because they're popular.
I have to listen to the same top 40 trash on repeat every single day at work, it's insufferable. Since I started working back in January, they have added exactly one song to the list: Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do." The song they removed? Elle King's Ex's and Oh's, which was damn good blues rock for top 40. So pardon me if I have an intense hunger for the complete opposite of what I listen to every day at work.
