Kind of

He went from Bleach to Nevermind, which seems to be alot softer

All smiles

Their latest album while not being their best is by fair their most light hearted and upbeat which makes me think that they're finally becoming happier people.

alien sex fiend

Mastodon
Anal cunt
Joy division

Noise rock/hardcore to standard alt/pop rock

HA HA BECAUSE HE KILLED HIMSELF LOL

Squarepusher has had many iterations of his manic breakbeats over the years, but to think that the jazz heavy "Hard Normal Daddy" and alien "Go Plastic" were by the same artist is an interesting evolution timeline.

Soft Machine moved away from Psychedelic rock jazz rock and straight jazz fusion as time went on.

Spring Heel Jack went from DnB to Jazz with with amazing effect.

Pixies started out singing about incest and mutilation, then did groovy alien space rock.

Big Star went from Beatlesque power pop to a bleaker, more orchestral direction on their last album Third

His first four albums are much more depressing than most of his material. Although I'd say he reverted back to the depressed sound in Push the Sky Away.

TAYLOR SWIFT

HANNAH MONTANA

Both are 10/10

Mastodon

Ulver. Went from black metal to synth pop.

Underoath, Embodyment, Mortification, Solstafir, Ulver, Anathema, Tiamat, Samael, Sirenia/Tristania, Therion, Extol, Opeth, Katatonia (a lot of this is heavy versus light, a lot of the music is still "dark")

the cure

Tegan and Sara

fucking bitches can't even make a depressing song anymore

...

reminder that elvis died taking a shit

Scott Walker is pretty fucking obvious for the vice versa option

tyler the creator

>Upbeat

Sharp Edges, Heavy near the end and maybe Invisible, but the rest of the album is bleak in lyrical content.

Faith No More

Started as a New Wave icon making fascinating and only sometimes cold and creepy music in the 80s to going both Goth and Industrial.
