oh lad

>traps on the grid this Sunday

>be me
>still think of China as a new track
>maybe it's not so new anymore at this point
>look up first race
>mfw first race was in 2004 (13years ago!!)

Am I alone in thinking this?

no
Even the Turkey GPs that are gone again since forever only stated in 2005

Is it just me or does that guy look like Heinz-Harald Frentzen?

I really want to get interested in cars/motorsport, however I don't have a driving liscense, don't have lots of disposable income and haven't watched racing since I was a child.

1. How do I learn how a car works? (Tried watching F1 and have no idea what all the terms mean, no idea how a gear box works tbqh)

2. What are essential non-F1 racing series worth watching? (NASCAR, Le Mans?)

3. Is it really worth getting into this knowing I'll be driving a VW Polo for the next 3 years and torturing myself looking at nicer cars?

4. Are bikes/Moto GP a meme?

5. Do you root for teams or individual drivers? How do I pick a team?

Shit I see it now
youtube.com/watch?v=FIxjA53ZIfA

Just follow F1 and fuck the rest. You'll never drive anything close to resembling an F1 car so you'll be fine with your Polo.
t. 1995 E36 318

I can give you a rundown on the teams if you want. If you support a team or a driver is entirely up to you.

>How do I learn how a car works?
Scuderia Ferrari facebook page has short videos explaining parts of the car for dummies

>2. What are essential non-F1 racing series worth watching?
Formula 2 (known as GP2 until this season. junior series for F1, absolute pure kino)
Formula E (basically F1 but slower and electric with very talented field of ex-F1 and Le Mans drivers and super entertaining close racing)

>How do I learn how a car works?
Wikipedia/YouTube. Try Engineering Explained on YouTube
>What are essential non-F1 racing series worth watching? (NASCAR, Le Mans?)
I'd say WEC internationally. As a kiwi I also keep up with V8 Supercars, and Indycar because Scott Dixon
>Is it really worth getting into this knowing I'll be driving a VW Polo for the next 3 years and torturing myself looking at nicer cars?
Sure it is. I drive an utter shitbox and I can still appreciate nice cars. If anything it makes you appreciate the nice cars more
>Are bikes/Moto GP a meme?
They are to an extent here but the racing can be legitimately good
>Do you root for teams or individual drivers? How do I pick a team?
Drivers myself. I support Gimi because memes, though I've always had a soft spot for Ferrari because they won the first F1 race I ever went to at age 5 (2001 Melbourne GP). Outside of F1 I tend to just support kiwi drivers
Also don't be a Mercedes or Lewis Hamilton fan here or you'll get destroyed

>are bikes/Moto GP a meme?
no

>I can give you a rundown on the teams if you want. If you support a team or a driver is entirely up to you

Quick rundown would be appreciated.

also, for your non moto gp entertainment

>Enjoying a nice pint at your local
>Some knob crashes through the wall
>Bike is a complete write-off
>Lad who was on it now some Cronenberg looking creature
>Cheeky shit also spilt your pint

Also F1 would have a jump if they went back to Buddh in it's current state

Do you honestly think fat Nick is going to be up this early in the day, Sanjeev?

TOP TEAMS
>Ferrari
Have been in the semen slurping sport since forever, biggest fanbase. Likely to have a good car but also spilling spaghetti because muh Italian way. big budget. Last 'hip was 2007
>Mercedes
The team itself is as bland and generic as it gets, they are the best right now though because they had major influence on the engine formula. plus they have the biggest budget. Won 2014-16
>Red Bull
Very entertaining drivers, team principals can go suck a dick. Have the weak Renault engine, the car itself is great most of times. Won 2010-13

MIDFIELD
>Force India
Team principal is an Indian tax evader hiding in England, their car is pink lol. Despite having not a lot of money they improve yearly, last year they got P4 in the final standing. Mercedes enigne.
>Renault
Money out the ass but only returned to the sport in a last minute takeover 2016, they are still in the process of rebuilding a competitive team. Expect them to improve most throughout the year because money. Their engine is mediocre.. Won 2005-6
>Williams
Tradiotion, cool livery, haven't been relevant in quite some time, only in 2014 when the Mercedes engine gave them an edge. Their pit crew are fast as fuck. Drivers are interesting because old fuck out of retirement plus young rich kid with no talent
>Toro Rosso
Red Bull's junior team. Not much to say about them, they are just there most of the times. Their new car is a beauty.
>HAAS
USA! USA! USA! Joined last year and were better than anyone expected because Ferrari helped them a lot. First American team on the grid since forever. Their new car looks good and fast desu. Did I mention they're American?

BACKMARKERS
>McLaren
Used to be a big deal, tradition, titles and what not, but decided to team up with Honda as engine supplier in 2015. Have struggled for pace since then and are only good for memes. Trouble with the japs every other week.
>Sauber
Celebrating their 25 year anniversary. Pay drivers, principal incompetent curry woman.

>two Greeks with internet connection let alone electricity

Not believing this shit for a second Ömer now I know you re just one of Nicks multiple personalties so put him on now yeah

>Team principal is an Indian tax evader hiding in England
actually going to be deported back to India to face trial

Who will be head of FI when that happens?

>comment too long
Sauber have 2016 Ferrari engines and are poor af. Only good thing about them is based Gio the Nazi

>Ferrari
Oldest team in F1, been around since the start and have a lot of bargaining power as a result. Tend to be good but often under perform. have the most wins, Drivers' Championships and Constructors' titles but haven't won a Drivers' Championship since 2007 Constructors' title since 2008.
>Mercedes
The team to beat since new regulations mandated the use of turbo engines in 2014. They compete under a German license but they're based in Brackley.
>Red Bull
Based in Milton Keynes and owned by Red Bull. Sponsorship money and the fact they have Adrian Newey design designing their cars have meant they've been a competitive team since 2009, winning titles in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.
>Scuderia Toro Rosso
Based in Faenza, Italy and owned by Red Bull. Effectively function as Red Bull's junior team. The name more or less means "Red Bull Racing" in Italian
>Renault
Formerly competed under the Lotus name until they ran out of money and got bought out by Renault, Currently in a rebuilding phase as they transition to the new ownership
>Haas
An American team and as such is popular here. Engines are built by Ferrari and chassis by Dallara so they're more Italian than anything else. Seen by some as a Ferrari junior team as they have an engineering relationship
>Sauber
Formerly competitive midfield team that has had money issues for the last several seasons and as such is at the back of the pack. Celebrating 25 seasons in F1 this year
>Force India
Operates with an Indian license but is based in Sliverstone. Often punches above their weight
>Williams
Formerly competitive team that won titles in the 80s and 90s. Hasn't been truly competitive since they lost their factory BMW engine deal in 2005. Been semi-competitive since getting a Mercedes engine deal in 2014
>McLaren
Founded by a kiwi but based in Woking. Formerly competitive , won titles in the 80s and 90s, but haven't won a title since 2008 and has recently gone to utter shit thanks to their Honda engine deal.

I think Sergio desu

What the hell happened to McLaren? Didn't they used to be top-tier?

Will any new teams join in the next few years?

Thanks for writing all that out by the way in such a short space of time, eternal kraut efficiency.

>What the hell happened to McLaren?
They had Mercedes engines in 2014 when they got their last podium, but decided that they will never have a chance on winning the 'hip as long as there is a works team using the same engine.
Thus the Honda partnership, big gamble that didn't pay off.

Stefan Grand Prix will be back next season with a lot more funding. I expect big things from these lads

>almost 40
>still no kids
didn't even bother putting those hips to good use

>What the hell happened to McLaren? Didn't they used to be top-tier?
Honda doesn't know how to make an engine that's competitive in the current regulations
>Will any new teams join in the next few years?
Unlikely. F1 is ludicrously expensive nowadays, and almost every team on the grid came from buying out older teams (excepting Williams, Ferrari, McLaren and Sauber
For instance Mercedes used to be Brawn GP, which used to be Honda F1 which used to be BAR which used to be Tyrrell.

>Will any new teams join in the next few years?
2021 the earliest I reckon. More likely that teams drop out. We just lost Manor Racing in the off season.

McLaren got JAPPED

>Unlikely. F1 is ludicrously expensive nowadays, and almost every team on the grid came from buying out older teams (excepting Williams, Ferrari, McLaren and Sauber
I forgot Haas

>that fucking Merc family tree

>What the hell happened to McLaren? Didn't they used to be top-tier?

Since 2015 because of Honda shit engine they are backmarkers but they claim to have a GOAT chassis, in 2014 they had the best engine but somehow the chassis was shit, probably they are shit in every field now, but they have muh Alonso is the best driver meme.

>Will any new teams join in the next few years?

It's rumored Alfa Romeo might come back as proper Ferari junior team but who knows, lately VW attended the FIA meeting for the new engine meaning they might be interested when engine formula will change ca 2021, probably as Audi. No idea about provateers tho

>What the hell happened to McLaren? Didn't they used to be top-tier?
Mercedes, McLaren's longtime engine supplier, started their own F1 team in 2010 (buying out Brawn, 2009 champions, which used to be Honda)
McLaren then slowly started getting less preferential treatment from Merc as Merc ramped up their effort
McLaren also started becoming really shit at designing the aerodynamics around that time
Lewis Hamilton left McLaren to go to Mercedes in 2013
McLaren haven't won a race since then
In 2014, McLaren were using their own fuel mix instead of Mercedes's recommended one, it cost them 40 horsepower because McLaren are idiots
Then McLaren decided to switch to Honda engines in 2015, because they weren't going to win races with a Mercedes that was inferior to the actual Mercedes
Honda are absolute horseshit, made an engine that was not only slower than a 30 year old Ford Fiesta but also exploded every 5 laps
Remarkably, Honda have actually gotten WORSE in 2017 instead of improving like everyone else in the history of the fucking sport has done

Ah yes the fabled amazing but flawed diamond that is the McLaren chassis. Be brave little kiwi team

I feel like as a New Zealander I should support McLaren but for some reason I've never liked them

Finland truly is on a BTFOing streak

>Stefan Grand Prix will be back next year
What's this now, seven years of almost being "here"

Oh yeah, Bernie got BTFO during the winter by new owners based Liberty Media which are americans and don't know shit about F1 so they put Brawn senpai to talk to the teams for the technical part (the one everyone actually cares), likely Liberty won't care about shekles as much as the greedy little brit

It's sad, but Ron Benis did kind of have a point in saying they'd never win without a factory engine deal. I think Brawn was the last team to win a title without a factory engine deal and that was a huge fluke desu

>I think Brawn was the last team to win a title without a factory engine deal and that was a huge fluke desu

Red Bull tho, Renault was in the game during 2010 and 2011

>Their new car is a beauty.
its god awful you crazy kraut

>Red Bull tho, Renault was in the game during 2010 and 2011
Oh right I forgot about that whole Lotus-Renault-Lotus-Caterham mess

williams pregnancy team

Renault weren't a factory team after 2009, they were owned by Genii

Say that to my face, fucker, and not online and see what happens

>Pregnant Claire
My body is ready.

wtf wasn't she supposed to be dating Andrew Murdoch or whatever Scottish bloke was Felipe's engineer in 2014

We all know who is the father

Why are all teams based in the UK?

Anglo superiority? F1 is popular here?

at her age there is a 1 in 82 chance that the baby will be a retard. Just thought this should be out there

>F1 is popular here?
This. Most of the factories are still there so why build new ones somewhere else?

I think Toyota did that back then in Cologne

F1 started in the UK because after WWII the airplane builders needed new jobs, so they turned the plane wings upside down and hey presto

Mate, all but Ferrari and Torro Rosso build their cars here (even if some are registered overseas)

We've got the best tradition in F1, the most amount of drivers, world championships, champions and one of the longest histories, fuck the Italians.

F1 is pretty popular over here, but like Tennis or any Olympic sport, it often comes down to whether a British guy is winning.

Sauber build theirs in Switzerland senpai

cheap labor

She's in her 40s.

The baby is going to be Michael Schumacher.

Haas are built by Dallara in Italy.

Wouldn't believing in thicc mickle mean we believe that he will stay thicc? Shouldn't it be thin nick?

He has to earn that title.

>f1 in china
>v8s in australia
>super gt in japan
>blancpain asia in malaysia

This weekend in this timezone oh baby.

Yeah but you miss Indy at based Long Beach.

McLaren-Honda technically is both in and not in the UK at the same time

How quickly will teams leave the UK after brexit is done? I can see being UK based being a hindrance

And motogp in Argentina.

Massa was on the podium in monza 2015

i thought you talk about williams
my bad

>You now realize why they hired Paddy Lowe

>Paddy Blowe the Lowed

a man so small he can infiltrate Claire's bagenis without her even knowing

He's from Northern Ireland. Still listed on Williams' site: williamsf1.com/racing/about/our-people/andrew-murdoch

No idea who this so-called """"Marc"""" fag is.

Also, telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/10140354/Claire-Williams-Formula-One-How-rude-that-people-keep-asking-me-when-Ill-get-pregnant.html
>People keep asking me, 'are you going to get pregnant?' How rude.

"I want to have children one day, but at the moment, I want to sort Williams out. This is my focus at the moment; if I want children, I want to give them 100pc of my time. And at the moment I want to give Williams 100pc of my time; it's the choice you make in life. I've got time [to have children]."

So maybe Marc should have covered his stump before the hump?

>V6's just drone, to my knowledge there's never been a V6 that really screams no matter the RPM.
Well that's another problem. I think the Ferrari Dino's sound nice, and some of the Alfa V6's, but no V6 can really compare with the Ferrari V10/12 which is what people generally want. That high pitched scream doesn't really come out in a V6; perhaps because of the angle or the firing order, because Alfa/Ferrari's get closer then Camry's and Commodore's (which sound atrocious).

I hope F1 goes back to displacement but not cylinder config, so we get V8-12 and I4 etc.

>Re Wehrlein; conspiracy theorists are out in force, pitchforks in hand. Of course there remains the possibility that he's simply not fit

Mfw this is true.

Press

Maybe this is him?
twitter.com/marcssparcs?lang=el

One of $tro££'s people it seems. New kid on the block? Just arrived this year and already got the boss preggers? Good job, Marc.

why can't ""journalists"" pronounce their own name and organization in a way that can actually be understood? You'd think they'd say it loud and clear to make themselves more known.

I have it on good authority that Claire is expecting a son and will name him Max

They don't care, the drivers don't care, the viewers don't care. Everyone involved wants to skip the introduction and jump straight to the questions and answers. Only people that care are the FIA who want to ban people that ask stupid shit I guess.

She's clearly written off this season now that Bottas has gone.

nice sleuthing, you put wagfag to shame there

weirdly he almost looks Spanish/north African in yet on his twitter he's whiter than dan wheldon's teeth

Who do you think he is actually son of?
It's basically sure he's a next-level genetic engineered baby that will be born for racing but Williams genes aren't required and by the age of 40 pretty weak too, my bets are on Susie Wolff and Valtteri. Another option could have been Lewis's semen in exchange of Bottas to Merc but considering the "father" is not black I had to exclude that, plus I think Toto is brewing another kid with his wife's eggs and Lewis's juice to be put in someone else

>It's another "Toto is a cuck" episode

It was pretty easy desu. Maybe I'm just a natural creep. Anyway if it is the same guy, he has two kids already and was married in 2013 (no idea if he still is). He looks more tanned in the announcement photo, but his gimpy teeth are the same.

tbf I don't think so, I mean, in the sheets he surely is but on breeding bussiness I think he's the mastermind, he lends the eggs in exchange of a managment promise in baby's future.

Is this the second (confirmed) team member that Claire fugged? Looks a bit unprofessional desu, Frank must be fuming with embarrassment

'Sir Frank dies of stroke' soon i reckon

""""stroke""""

>that Ferrari drought in the 80s and 90s

I fear poor Frank doesn't even know what day it is.

ok update!
Seems they've been together since last year at least: donfeatures.photoshelter.com/image/I0000Pz.sOdjGNo4

When did she break up with Massa's lad then?

>2014 cars are slow as shit, Hamilton wins
>2015 cars are slow as shit, Hamilton wins
