Well, it's been a few years since I found myself here on Sup Forums. I just started college (yes, i was underageb&) and I'm having a really hard time making friends. The lefties hate me because I'm not bending a knee to them and there's practically no right-wing presence here. All of the clubs I try are super cliquey and not really freshman-friendly. I just need a friend I can talk to late at night and shoot the shit with sometimes. If you're up to keep a miserable idiot company, then, thank you. I can drop discord or kik or something if it'd work better that way.
Checkem if dubs are enabled. I can't be bothered to check this late at night.
Pic is wholesome if unrelated. Kudos if you know it.
If you lean right politically and want to make friends, you should really look into rushing a fraternity. I don't know how I would've made it through college without being in one honestly. I didn't even get to enjoy most of the perks of frat life. I dated my high school sweetheart through my entire time at college, so no sorority babes & I wasn't a big partier either. Still absolutely worth it for me.
Bentley Carter
Making friends is about taking the good with the bad m8, you can't expect to find a bunch of people that think exactly like you do, try to connect over other stuff. Also, don't know the anime but it looks cool

I'm pretty shut in. I can't drink for medical reasons, and I get really paranoid in crowds. I'd rather spend an evening bullshitting or watching dumb shit on the internet with a bottle of soda than watching plastered gymbos with a bottle of beer. Since I left all my friends behind and my roommate's a party guy I'm alone most nights.
I appreciate the advice, man. It helps to know someone cares enough to give advice, heh.
I've tried making friends with the video game club but they hate me because I body them in Brawlhalla every time I go there. I'm in an activism group for my major, and I'd quit it in two seconds if it weren't my only ticket into the industry I've set my heart on. Practically impossible to get an internship without being in it. I'm extremely frustrated with the fact that in all likelihood the industry will be dead by the time I'm qualified enough to make a difference. Ugh.
The game's Blazblue, it had an anime near the beginning but it's basically a 4-game series. I highly recommend it if you're into 2D fighters. It's a top of the line franchise.

Bump.

>pretty shut in >rather spend an evening bullshitting or watching dumb shit on the internet You're preaching to the choir bud, look where we are. I'm not sure how the fraternities are up @ Penn State but at my alma mater (in Florida) there was a pretty wide range of personalities in Greek-life.
I drank once or twice a month personally, but a handful of bros never drank in my fraternity and it really wasn't a big deal at all. I was pretty skeptical about rushing too at first, but it ended up one of the best decisions I ever made. You really don't have anything to lose by checking out some rush events or meeting some brothers. Worst case scenario, you're in the exact same spot and you're sure that Greek life isn't for you.
Isaac Rogers
you know, that's not a bad idea. Probably not this weekend, but I'm gonna see if I can give that a shot. There's a frat house about 10 yards from my window. It's going crazy at the moment. I'm pretty sure I just learned what a drunk man yodeling sounds like. You're pretty chill.. I know that it's kinda weird but could you drop a discord/kik/whatever the hell? It'd mean a lot to me.
Brandon Turner
You didn't have to explain you're shut in, everybody knew from the moment you said you couldn't make friends because you're right-wing. Almost nobody should know your political opinions before you're already friends, so it means you're shoving it up the face of people and you're an annoying asshole.
I'm saying this to help you.
Luke Anderson
(cont) In the end, I got out of my shell a bit and made a lot of good friends & helpful connections along the way. I even took some leadership (like top 5 out of 100 bros) positions in the fraternity which really helped me to mature as a adult. >i know that sounds kinda faggy, I used to rip on fratbros who posted shit like this a few years ago, but I'm being 100% serious >also stuff like (pic related) looks awesome
Joseph Howard
That's the Sup Forums I know. Good to see you user.
Jace Moore
heh. believe it or not i actually feel better upon being insulted. it's familiar. i remember why i loved this place.
Chase Gomez
>implying leftism isn't constantly rammed down everyones throats @ University from all directions
Merely being on the right means you are constantly walking on eggshells. This isn't some random street encounter (in which case I'd probably agree with you) college campuses are the belly of the beast.
Jaxson Hernandez
I have to walk past this a few times every day just to subsist, enjoy.
Adam Young
>drunk yodelling kek, brings back some memories.
>discord, kik I have literally never used any of those services and I honestly have no idea how to do so. I'll stick around the thread tho and you can AMA that comes to mind.
Michael Wilson
got it, got it. heh. what am i supposed to do without a vacuum cleaner? I had to make my own broom two days ago because i spilled popcorn kernels all over the floor and can't afford a swiffer
Jason Thomas
Why is this poster a problem to you? Don't you like initiatives to help people become friends?
Luke Thompson
>actively seeking out friendship with people who advocate for language policing
Ayden Jackson
blehhchhh
Christian Torres
This is not langage policing. This is to make dense faggots like you better at communicating because you are not wired like social people are.
Lucas Collins
The fact that I'm shut in doesn't mean i'm friendless. the problem i have is that i left all my friends back at home and it takes a long time for me to come to trust people who i meet in person.
Jason Allen
>be me >year 1 at college >forced to take a lecture: "Freshman Colloquium" >all new Honors College student required to take this course instead of an English class
>literally = (((diversity class))) >professor was an old jewess >1 night each week for 3 hours >very subjective grading, few assignments, >lots of group discussions & other nonsense
>some highlights that I recall.... >Week 2: Guest speaker (chinese lady) talking about "white privilege" >this was 6 or 7 years ago, it was still a very fringe concept, several kids walked out >Week 3: Take a DNA test (like 23 & me) >Week 6: Results from DNA test, spend entire period discussing how diverse we all are and how that makes us strong
I was very apolitical at this point in life so I didn't think too much of it, but looking back I was sliding pretty far to the left before I transferred schools and started taking non-bullshit courses for my major (Business).
Gabriel Myers
also, what got me blacklisted more than the general aversion of some topics was that i made a self-depracating joke related to my home state which happens to be extremely poor. my peers are more offended by a man making a joke about himself than they are by the actual problems i referred to. it's pretty pathetic.
Bentley Walker
oh shit, i got dubs.
Thomas Edwards
Short-term: Ask somebody in the hallway to borrow theirs, might even make a new friend.
Long-term: Part-time job?
Angel Jenkins
No, you didn't get blacklisted because of a single joke, but you probably act a lot more creepy than you realize. Stop deluding yourself and act on the real problems about you.
Gavin Torres
i'm gonna do that immediately. pic related. it works surprisingly well.
Isaac King
>i'm not projecting guys i swear
Daniel Young
in all reality i am working on how i come across to people. I tend to see things in a political light and it's not the best way to be. i don't actually think you're projecting and i appreciate the tough love. ...but the bit about the joke is true.
Evan Ramirez
>illegal immigrant >just want to be a part of my country >my country Welp that did it, i'm officially triggered.
kek, these two are more on the funny side
Carter Wright
...
Brandon Kelly
>posting lists of words you aren't supposed to say idk famalam, it kinda feels like language policing..
Jonathan Wilson
Cost: some trash and $5 at a convenience store
Gain: engineering street cred, satisfaction, clean floor, didn't have to throw out a bunch of shit
Wyatt Hughes
All the more reason to join a frat brah, you can just make your pledges clean for you. Maybe even move to the frat house and not have to deal with insane nonsense being taped over the walls outside your door.
Isaiah Nelson
i think my dad's frat is here as well as at his alma mater. I think i'm gonna ask him about them in the morning/day/afternoon/night whenever i wake up
the frats here at old state got castrated after the guy died last year. I know a dude who knew the guy. it was pretty brutal.
Luis Ramirez
Didn't have a pumpkin for halloween so i put a mask on one of my succulents and let it sit outside my door with a solo cup while i slept through the holiday. woke up to a few free pieces of candy and i didn't even need to buy a costume myself
Michael Sanchez
>talk to dad Definitely do that.
>frats got castrated same thing just happened down here at Florida State. Obviously the deaths are awful situations, but the schools tend to use fraternities as a scapegoats whenever possible to save face & they pretend it's a issue unique to Greeklife. Independent college kids drink plenty and do retarded/deadly shit too, but there's no "problematic group" involved to blame all of the world's problems on.
My fraternity had a "cowboys and indians" themed-social event & the entire administration went ballistic on us as if we'd performed some sort of hate-crime. >Our social chair wanted to call the event the "Trail of Beers"....thank god he didn't meme that too hard
Jason Davis
The goal is to make you understand how those words make other people feel so you can communicate better with them. It's the same as when you're called virgin/asocial/pick your poison, it wouldn't hurt other people but it does hurt you because of your background.
You're supposed to pick up on social clues to not need this kind of initiative, but you can't even understand the project so I guess you're just lost.
Nowhere it is written than those words are forbidden, but you should watch their usage if you want to be friendly.
Jordan Richardson
also fuck my typing
Lucas Clark
up here the problem was the individual students, not the frat. he was partying with a bunch of quasi-sociopathic assholes. play dangerous games, win dangerous prizes
some dudes mess around with nerf guns a lot in the courtyard here. wonder how long it is before that's a hate crime against murder victims. :|
Leo Cox
All y'all though, I feel a lot better. I think I'm going to keep coming back here again. Let's argue again sometime. Stay safe fratbro. Also I appreciate your sternness criticism man.
Logan Smith
>helps understand muh fee-fees These are 18+ year olds (who are SUPPOSED to be among the cream of the crop in our society) not fucking toddlers. They don't need the walls covered in naughty word reminders. Those notes are not constructive criticism, they are up there as a WARNING. Once these words are posted, it's easier to portray people their use (such as calling an illegal alien; "illegal") as a "micro-aggression" because everyone was warned about those words.
>calls you a virgin asocial I'm the frat-poster m8, I'm not a virgin and i'm not "asocial" either. Your need to insult other anons during every post says a lot more about you than it does about them.
>they aren't actually "forbidden" Damn right they aren't.
>watch their usage if you want to be friendly You mean if you want to avoid HOSTILITY. The leftist don't "act less friendly" when someone steps out of line, they go on the offensive.
gay asf fuck you, no one wants to be your friend cause youre a loser but sure just blame "the lefties hate me because im not bending a knee to them" no kys
Dominic Sanchez
shoo soyboy
Easton Turner
not being friendly = being hostile. If you're using offensive words, acting hostile, people will react the same.
Jace Jenkins
still hiding behind politics huh, im sure you feel protected behind all your trump buddies
Ryan Myers
OP here. that wasn't me.
Ian Taylor
and also I didn't vote for trump. he's disgusting. I wrote-in.
Benjamin Green
Anyway OP is clocking out for the morning. Thanks guys. See ya around,
Leo Jones
1) Words are not violence & no word is "offensive" by itself. You can choose to be offended by everything or by nothing, that is not the same thing as hostility.
2) There are plenty of steps between "not being friendly" and being "hostile". >indifferent >cold >rude >standoff-ish >passive-aggressive If I chose to ignore you in the hall and you respond by getting me fired from my job, we have both been "unfriendly" but only you have been hostile.
3) Some of those "hurtful" words are literally just accurate words. The idea that people should be tip-toeing around illegal aliens because they don't like being called what they are is fucking insanity.
Gabriel Hernandez
It's okay not to figure this stuff out right away as well. The infectious wokeness of modern american life isn't going away anytime soon, and people are going to have to learn that leftist/socialist praxis is the only reasonable position to adapt to, but you don't have to adopt to being one of the cool woke kids right away.
For the left to win we are going to have to adopt the uneducated into our fold, and the path to liberation is probably not performative wokeness, even if it's connected to things inherently good. The acceptable discourse on campus is ever changing, its pretty easy to not fit in with social norms you have no experience with but it by no means makes you an "unsalvageable" person.
You need losers for the revolution comrade, solidarity.
Make right wing friends all you want, but don't be so afraid of the language police, some of them might like you after all. If you can dig chan culture at least realize nerds are not hard to find anymore, and your current isolation is pretty widely experienced. Not everyone seemingly on the left is going to have a problem geeking out about games with you dude, make friends the traditional way through shared hobbies.
Oh and maybe study materialist history, it's probably the most important thing you're ever going to learn about the world.
Zachary Sanchez
You. I like you.
Tyler Russell
You need to realize other people are people and not NPCs in your life. Put yourself in the shoes of others.
Aaron Foster
>materialist history A meme that went too far.
Andrew Price
You post this like it's a meme a leftist wouldn't come up with.
You could stand an extra dose of history and theory yourself user.
Blake Rogers
>i don't like it >therefore you're ignorant
The left's unwarranted sense of moral and intellectual superiority never fails.
Nathaniel Sullivan
So let me get this straight. Believing that words are not violence & that your feelings do not take precedence over the truth makes me a bad person?
Christian Price
It seems like you're trying to make the claim "I did not like comic" when in fact that's not remotely present in the plain text or subtext of that post, and in fact the opposite is true.
I could make a snarky reply or something but really that's just a level of lazy I don't have much to engage with on.
Anthony Bennett
It's a meme that ANYONE observing history would come up with because this is what happens EVERY FUCKING TIME and you guys just say "b...but that just means this try doesn't count because we never achieved full socialism!"
You're like a golfer repeatedly smacking your club into the tall grass and screaming "MULLIGAN MULLIGAN MULLIGAN". All of these shots still could m8, and it's frankly just starting to become embarrassing.
